Tomorrow is the last day of the month of Rajab, in shā’ Allāh, and with it comes the arrival of Sha‘bān…

The most important duty is for a person to conceal their sins and not expose themselves to disgrace before their Lord, for openly committing sins weakens faith and invites divine displeasure.

Essential actions to take:

1- If you have missed obligatory fasts, make up for them without delay.

2- If you have not memorized from the Qur’an, start with the "Mī’īn"—the surahs that are around or exceed 100 verses—so that you can perform Qiyam Al-Layl (The voluntary night prayer and acts of worship performed during the night) with reverence and earn the reward indicated by the Prophet ﷺ.

3- Turn to Allah with sincere repentance from your sins and shortcomings.

4- If you have fallen short in honoring and maintaining ties with your parents, hasten to rectify this.

5- If there is enmity between you and someone, resolve it—unless doing so would harm your faith. If reconciliation is not possible, clarify your stance sincerely for In order to be free from guilt before your Lord (Allāh).

6- If you have not completed a full recitation of the Holy Qur’an since last Ramadan, even if you have a daily portion for healing or memorization, dedicate two hours of your day—even from your sleep—to complete it.

7- Frequently repeat 'Lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata illā billāh' (There is no power nor strength except with Allāh), seek Allah's forgiveness abundantly (Istighfār), and send prayers upon the Prophet ﷺ.

8- Trust in Allāh and remove anything that hinders your relationship with Him—whether it be gatherings of gossip, unnecessary conversations that waste hours, overeating, consuming food that harms your ability to worship, or wasting time online without benefit.

Some Hadith Scholars have deemed authentic the narration that deeds are raised in Sha‘bān. Thus, it is necessary to make up for shortcomings and strive to be in the best state:

1- Fast voluntarily as much as you can—the Prophet ﷺ is reported to have fasted frequently in Sha‘bān. If you are unable to do so extensively, do not miss at least a day or two, as this is also mentioned in prophetic traditions.

2- Increase in the remembrance of Allāh, so that He remembers you in return, bringing you His mercy and blessings.

3- Give charity as much as you can—the Most Generous Lord never fails to reward generosity. If you have no money to give, then even a piece of bread, a word of glorification, or a simple praise of Allāh counts as charity.

4- Be keen on increasing the recitation and reflection on the Qur'an.

5- Seek knowledge.

6- Increase in supplication (dua) and humility before Allāh, asking for sincerity, acceptance, divine assistance, and purification from spiritual diseases.

7- Help the servants of Allāh, and divine assistance will come to you.

These are the only means to ensure the establishment of justice and to protect the Muslim world from chaos and corruption, which enemies exploit to suppress any attempt to emerge from the era of oppressive rule.

This is the duty that every individual in this Ummah must work towards: upholding the word of Allah, glorifying His law, and adhering to His rulings. And Allah is Most High and All-Knowing; He alone knows the unseen, the hidden, and what lies even deeper.

Jābir (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I heard the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) say:
"What stands between a man and polytheism and disbelief is the abandonment of the prayers."

[Authentic hadith] - [Narrated by Muslim] - [Sahih Muslim - 82]


The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) warned against abandoning the obligatory prayers and informed us that what stands between a man and falling into Shirk (polytheism) and disbelief is the abandonment of prayer. Prayer is the second pillar of Islam and is of great significance in this religion. Whoever abandons it out of denial of its obligation has become a disbeliever by consensus among the Muslims, and whoever abandons it altogether out of negligence or lethargy is a disbeliever, a ruling the Companions are reported to have agreed upon unanimously. But if a person abandons it sometimes and performs it at other times, he is subject to this stern warning.

The Hadīth stresses the significance of prayer and its observance, for it is the distinguishing feature between disbelief and belief.
It gives a severe warning against abandoning and neglecting the prayers.
