Deviating From The Evidences Of The Qur’aan & The Sunnah

A Series of Reminders About The Month of Rajab - No.2

It Is Not Permissible To Single Out The Month Of Rajab To Fast

Ibn Taymiyyah رحمه الله said: "As for singling out (the month of) Rajab for fasting, then all of the ahādīth are weak. Rather, they are fabricated and the People of Knowledge do not rely on any of them. However it has been authentically narrated that 'Umar Ibn al-Khattab used to strike the hands of the people so as to force them to eat in Rajab and he used to say: 'Do not liken it to Ramadhān'."

Ahadeeth Pertaining To Repentance, Admonition And Softening Of The Heart

From Sahl Bin Saad that the Messenger [ﷺ] said:

From The Most Significant Reasons For A Heart To Be In Anguish

Al-Hafidh Ibn Al-Qayyim [رحمه الله] [D. 751 A.H.] said:

«وَمِن أعْظَمِ أسْبابِ ضِيقِ الصَّدْرِ»

❝From the most significant reasons why a heart is in anguish:

«الإعْراضُ عَنِ اللَّهِ تَعالى،»

1 - Is turning away from Allaah [

2 - Attaching the heart to other than Him.

«والغَفْلَةُ عَنْ ذِكْرِهِ، ومَحَبَّةُ سِواهُ،»

3 - Neglect from remembering Him and loving other than Him.

«فَإنَّ مَن أحَبَّ شَيْئًا غَيْرَ اللَّهِ عُذِّبَ بِهِ، وسُجِنَ قَلْبُهُ في مَحَبَّةِ ذَلِكَ الغَيْرِ.»

The Story of The Dog Who Killed The Person Who Belittled The Prophet

Al-Hafidh Ad-Dhahabi [رحمه الله] said:

❝Jamal Ud-Deen Ibraheem Bin Muhammad At-Taybee Bin As-Sawamli said in a gathering:

I attended a gathering with Sanjuq Al-Khaznadar Hulagu Khan [around 1256] He was from the Mongols who became Christian at the beginning of the Abaqa empire.

We were in his tent, and with him he had a group from the rulers of the Mongols and a group from the seniors of the Christians on a snowy day.

The cursed senior Christian said: 'What was Muhammad - meaning our Prophet - [ﷺ]?! He was a mere claimant who established himself among starving Arab people.'

He began exaggerating in belittling the Messenger [ﷺ].

There was present a hunting dog chained with a gold chain which Sanjuq loved. The dog jumped and became free from the chain and attacked the Christian man and scratched him and made him bleed.

The people rushed to him and stopped the dog and chained him up. Some of those present said, this is because of what you said about Muhammad [ﷺ].

The senior man said: 'Do you think that this happened due to my speech about Muhammad? No but this dog is precious. It saw me pointing with my hand and thought I wanted to hit it, and so it pounced on me.'

Then the man again began belittling the Prophet [ﷺ] and said more than what he did before.

The dog pounced on him a second time and broke the chain and mauled the man - and Allaah is Great - while I was watching!

Then the dog bit him on his throat and pulled his throat out, then this cursed person died.

Approximately forty thousand Mongols accepted Islaam due to this great event, and this event became famous.❞

A Series of Reminders About The Month of Rajab - No.1

Ṣalāt ar-Raghā`ib, An Evil Innovation

Ṣalāt ar-Raghā`ib, a prayer that is said on the night of first Friday of the month of Rajab is an evil Bid’ah, so be warned and warn others, below are the statements of the Imāms of Ahlus-Sunnah concerning this innovation:

Imām an-Nawawī رحمه الله said: “May Allāh kill the one who introduced (this Bid’ah) and fabricated it, for it is an evil Bid’ah, a Bid’ah that (constitutes of) misguidance and ignorance and in it is open opposition (to Sharī'ah).”

Ibn Ḥajar رحمه الله was asked: “Is it permissible to pray Ṣalāt ar-Raghā`ib in congregation or not?”, he said: “.. It is an innovation which is disliked and condemned, the Ḥadīth regarding it is fabricated and it is not permissible to act upon it (i.e pray it) be it individually or in congregation.”

Ibn Taymiyyah رحمه الله: “This (Ṣalāt ar-Raghā`ib) is not prescribed in Islām, that is is the agreement of the Imāms of Islām and also this is what has been stated by the respected scholars of this Ummah, no one allowed it except for an ignorant innovator, for innovations as such open the door to altering the Sharī'ah of Deen, this prayer was not offered by the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ nor any Companion nor any Tabi'ī nor any Imām, the scholar have a consensus upon it that the Ḥadīth regarding this prayer that has been narrated from the Prophet ﷺ is a fabricated lie, hence ‘Ulamā said it is *forbidden* (to offer this prayer) and it is not recommended.”

Ibn al-Jawzī رحمه الله: “Ṣalāt ar-Raghā`ib is a fabricated lie upon the Prophet ﷺ, had it been prescribed the Salaf would not be unaware of it, and it (this innovation) was introduced after 400 Ḥijrī.”

Shaykh al-'Uthaymīn رحمه الله said: As for what is called Salāh ar-Raghā'ib which comprises of 1000 rak'ah that is prayed on the first night of Rajab or the first friday nightnof Rajab, then this is also not correct and it is not legislated (by the Sharī'ah)."

Ibn Rajab رحمه الله said: "As for salāh, then there is nothing authentic confirmed in the month of Rajab that is specific and specified to this month. And the ahādīth that were reported about the eminence of Salāh at-Ragā'ib on the first Friday night in the month of Rajab are lies and falsehood - they are not authentic. And this salāh is an innovation, as deemed by the majority of the 'Ulamā'."

The Advice of Umāmah Bint Al-Hārith To Her Daughter Umm Iyyās on The Night of Her Marriage

Umāmah Bint Al-Hārith said to her daughter when she was being sent off to her husband:

❝My dear daughter, if advice were to be left off due to the refinement of one's manners then you would be in no need of that. However, it is a reminder for the heedless and useful tool for the intelligent. If it were that a woman could go without a husband due to the wealth of her parents and their great need for her then you would be the least of the people in need for that. However, the women have been created for the men and the men for the women.

My dear daughter, you have left the environment from which you have sprouted and left the life which you have grown up in, going to a home that you do not know and a companion that you are unfamiliar with. He has become, by his authority over you, an overseer and a king. So be a slave to him and he will be a willing servant to you.

My dear daughter, take from me ten qualities and they will be for you an asset and a reminder:

Accompany him in contentment and be amicable with him by hearing and obeying.

Safeguard where his eyes land and safeguard what his nose smells, so that his eyes never see anything ugly from you and his nose never smells any repugnant odor. Kohl is the best make-up and water [i.e., good hygiene] is the best perfume.

Safeguard his meal times and keep tranquil his sleep times. The heat of hunger is infuriating and deprivation of sleep is irritating.

Safeguard his home and his money and take good care of him, his relatives, and take care of his children. Safeguarding his money is a sign of good judgement and taking care of his children and relatives is a sign of good management.

Don't spread his secrets and don't disobey his commands. If you spread his secrets you will not be safe of him lying to you and if you oppose his commands he will resent you.

Beware of displaying joy when he is upset and and sadness when he is happy. The first is irresponsible and the second is antagonistic.

The more you honor him the more veneration he will have for you; the more you are in agreement with him the longer your time will be with him.

And know, that you will not attain that which you want from him until you give preference to pleasing him over pleasing yourself and to his desire over your own in whether you like it or not. And may Allāh give good to all.❞

Hunger [i.e. fasting and its reward] is a treasure preserved with Him, that He does not give except to the one He loves specifically. The Righteous Woman In Paradise Is More Beautiful

Imam Qurtubi [رحمه الله] said:

❝The state of the believing Muslim woman in Paradise is better than that of the Hoor Al-A'yin [women of Paradise] she also has a higher status and is more beautiful.

The righteous woman is from the people of the Duniya, when she enters Paradise she enters it as a reward for good deeds and an honour for her from Allaah for her Deen and righteousness.

As for the Hoor [woman of Paradise] who is from the delight of Paradise was created in Paradise for other than her and is placed as a reward for the believer for good deeds.

There is a huge difference between the one who enters Paradise as a reward for her good deeds and who was created as a reward for the person who has good deeds.

The first is a righteous woman who is a queen, a lady who has a high status, the second is the Hoor Al-A'yin even though she has a great status and beauty but as far as is understood by the people, she is lesser than a queen, and she follows the command of her master the believing man, Allaah created her as a reward for him.❞

❝From the most comprehensive of what you can supplicate with is what is mentioned in the Hadeeth of Anas [رضي الله عنه] that the Prophet [ﷺ] would say this a lot in his Dua’:

«رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً»

'O our Lord give us goodness in this world'

This includes all the goodness of the Duniya:

• From having a righteous wife,
• Comfortable transport,

«وَفِي الآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً»

'Goodness in the Hereafter'

• From an easy reckoning,
• Being given your record of deeds in the right hand,
• Easily passing over the Siraat [bridge],
• Drinking from the lake of the Messenger [ﷺ],
• Entry into Paradise,

Reasons For An Increase And Decrease Of Prices

Shaykh ul-Islaam Ibn Taymeeyah [رحمه الله] said:

❝Products become expensive due to an increase in prices and are cheap due to a decrease of price. These two aspects are from the general occurrences which have no creator except Allaah Alone.

None of those things can occur except by Allaah’s permission and His capability. However, Allaah - Subhanahu - may place some of the actions of the slaves of Allaah as reasons and means for some occurrences. Just as like a murderer killing someone is the reasons for a death to occur.

Allaah causing an increase in prices could be due to the slaves of Allaah oppressing one another and the decrease in prices could be due to some people being good to others.❞

'O Allaah indeed I am Your slave, and the son of Your slave, and the son of Your female slave, my forelock is in Your Hand, Your command over me is forever executed and Your decree over me is just. I ask of You with all Your names, which belong to You, which You have named Yourself with, or which You have taught someone from Your creation or revealed it in Your Book or that which You have taken unto Your self with the knowledge of the unseen with You, that You make the Quraan the life of my heart and light of my breast and keep away from me my sadness, and that my grief goes away.'

Most Beautiful Words Of Encouragement For The Callers To Truth

Sh. Ibn al-‘Uthaymīn Raḥimahullāh said:

“Be FIRM, and DO NOT change (your stance) because of the large number of attacks on you nor due to (their) being offended by your words. As long as you are upon the TRUTH then be firm, for truth is never budged (by falsehood). Thereafter, defend (the truth) if you are in a weak position. There is nothing lesser than defending (the truth). But if you are in a strong position, then upon you is to attack (the falsehood). For the days take turns (sometimes in your favor and sometimes otherwise).

But (remember) the most important thing is that even if you are in a weaker position, then you should remain firm. And never say: ‘Oh, all the people are in opposition to this.’ Rather, be firm, for Allāh Subḥaanahoo Wa Ta'ālā aids His Deen, His Book, His Messenger (Ṣallallāhu-'Alaihi Wa Sallam) throughout the ages.

No doubt that you will face harm (from the people). Here is Imām Aḥmad Raḥimahullāh, he was dragged by a mule in the market and was whipped. But he was patiently firm.
And here is Shaykh-ul-Islām (Ibn Taymiyyah), Raḥimahullāh, who was driven around in the market on a cart and was thrown in the prison, but he remained firm.

It is not possible that the earth will always be a carpet of roses and flowers for a person who clings to the Sunnah (for he will face opposition and will be harmed by the people).”

The Prophet ﷺ combined between fear of Allāh (Taqwā) and good manners for Taqwā rectifies what is between a slave and his Lord and good manners rectify what is between and the creation, so Taqwā makes it imperative that he earns the love of Allāh and and good manners invoke people to love him,

The following Hadith mentioned in footnotes:

This is because Allāh, the Exalted says: The Merciful has ascended above the ‘Arsh, and the ‘Arsh of Allāh is above His heavens.

I further asked Abū Hanīfah: What if such a person admits, Allāh is above His ‘Arsh, but claims he does not know whether His ‘Arsh is above the heavens or on earth.

Abū Hanīfah responded: If he denies that the 'Arsh is above the heavens, he is an apostate.

Dealing With Short Tempered People!

It is reported that Khālid b. So if Allāh wants good for his servant, He opens his heart’s eyes, and so he perceives what he has been promised in the unseen world. Beware Of Hypocritical Humility

The Salaf would seek refuge from hypocritical humility, just like (it has been reported that) some of them would say: “Seek Allāh’s Refuge from hypocritical submissiveness.” it was said: “And what is hypocritical submissiveness?”, they said: “That you see the BODY in SUBMISSIVENESS while the HEART has NO HUMILITY.

● [Narrated by Ibn Abee ash-Shaybah in his ‘al-Muṣannaf 7/243 no. 3571’, and Imām Aḥmad in 'az-Zuhd pg. 135’ and Ibn al-Mubārak in ad-Durr al-Manthūr]

And 'Umar b. al-Khaṭṭāb رضي الله عنه saw a young man with his head lowered so 'Umar said to him: “O this one raise your head for indeed humility is not more than what is IN THE HEART, so whoever displays submissiveness which is NOT in his heart then this is only HYPOCRISY ON TOP OF HYPOCRISY.”

‘Laa Ilaaha Illallaahu Waḥdahoo Laa Shareeka Lahoo, Lahul Mulku Walahul Ḥamdu Wahuwa ‘Alaa Kulli Shay`in Qadeer’

Then it will be for him (an equivalent) of freeing TEN slaves, and Allāh will write for him a HUNDRED good deeds, and remove from him a HUNDRED bad deeds, and he will remain SAFE from Shayṭān that day until the evening, and NO ONE will come with a better virtue than his except for a man who commits more good deeds than him.”
