In Africa (especially the Maghrib), names like al-Makkī, al-Zamzamī, al-‘Arabī, al-Amīn are common, and they are all descriptions of the Prophet ﷺ. They are also often preceded by “Muhammad”: Muhammad al-Makkī, Muhammad al-Fātih, Muhammad al-Amīn...

The Kittānīs in Syria kept up this tradition, Shaykh Muhammad Ibn Ja‘far al-Kittānī named two of his sons Muhammad al-Makkī and Muhammad al-Zamzamī, and Shaykh Muhammad al-Makkī al-Kittānī named his son Muhammad al-Fātih

بسم الله وصلى الله على مالكنا محمد وعلى آله
It’s with great pleasure we announce our first course on Mantiq.

What is Mantiq? From the several sciences of the Arabic language, it is the study of logic in the Islamic tradition, aimed at understanding correct reasoning and avoiding fallacies. It focuses on defining concepts, evaluating the truth of statements, and forming valid arguments through structured reasoning.

Join us as we study Imām al-Akhḍarī’s didactic poem. In this course, you will gain the foundations of Mantiq which are essential for every student of the Islamic Tradition especially those wanting to further excel in the Kalam and the Arabic language.

An Ijāzah is to be granted upon examination.

A Refutation of Not Adhering to A Madhab

By Imam Muhammad Illīsh the late Azhari Maliki faqih

There is a masterful quote from Jalal Ud-Din Al-Suyūti where he refutes anti-madhabism from the perspective of each of the four madhabs

It is a little known fact that the entire eastern Arabian Peninsula from Basrah down to the Oman is traditionally Maliki.

Shaykh Yusuf Al-Nabahāni a 20th century scholar said:

“The original Arabs of Basrah are Maliki. And the Hanafis amongst them are from Baghdad or Mosul or Ottoman employees. And the Shafiis amongst them are Kurdish or Persian. And the Hanbalis amongst them are from Najd.”

This is the complete table with the notes as a commentary on the Section for Sahw from Ibn Ashir, if the students have any questions they can ask in the comments. This is a high-level overview of forgetfulness in prayer sufficient for the beginner student who seeks to gain some clarity on the subject.

Sh Abdelhamid Āl Shaykh Mubārak is the Shaykh of the Malikiyyah in Al-Ahsā’

Here are some fawā’id he shared when I met with him yesterday:

1. Up until 60-70 years ago the entire eastern gulf region from Southern Iraq to the UAE was purely Maliki (except Al-Ahsā’ which retained the 4 madhabs).

It all changed when the Salafis attacked.

2. Between the 4 madhabs here there is a unique love and brotherhood. On the other hand in some parts of the world, there are 4 groups within 1 madhab and animosity between them.

3. Any Shaykh there are doubts around or you feel uncomfortable with, leave them. There are plenty of other shuyukh in the world.

His shaykh once said “any person that leaves one sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ is not a waliyy.”
