Sheikh ‘Abd al-Rahman al-Sa’di writes in his tafsir:

‎البدعة نوعان: نوع يتعبد لله بعبادة, لم يشرعها أصلا، ونوع يتعبد له بعبادة قد شرعها على صفة مخصوصة, فتفعل على غير تلك الصفة

There are two types of innovation:

1. A type wherein one worships Allah with an act of worship whose very basis is not divinely legislated.

2. The other type is to worship Him with an act of worship which has been divinely legislated in a certain condition, but then to practice it upon something other than that condition.

3. A man whose heart is attached to the mosques (who offers the five compulsory congregational prayers in the mosques).

4. Two persons who love each other only for Allah's sake and they meet and part in Allah's Cause only.

5. A man who refuses the call of a charming woman of noble birth for an illegal sexual intercourse with her and says: I am afraid of Allah.

6. A person who practises charity so secretly that his left hand does not know what his right hand has given (i.e. nobody knows how much he has given in charity).

7. A person who remembers Allah in seclusion and his eyes become flooded with tears."

✅ Reviving the Sunnahs of jumu'ah

1. 🚿 Taking a bath or shower : It is Sunnah to take a bath or a shower on the day of Jumu'ah before attending the Friday prayer.

2.👚 Wearing clean and nice clothes : it is encouraged to dress nicely and wear clean clothes on the day of Jumu'ah.

3. 🕌 Going to the mosque early : it is sunnah to go to the mosque early on the day of Jumu'ah for the congregational prayer and to listen to the khutbah (sermon).

4.📖 Reciting Surah Kahf : it is highly encouraged sunnah to recite Surah Kahf (chapter 18 of the Quran) on the day of Jumu'ah.

5. 🤲 Making dua : It is sunnah to make dua (supplication) on the day of Jumu'ah during the last hour before sunset, as it is a special time when duas are more likely to be accepted.

6. 💰 Giving charity : it is encouraged to give charity on the day of Jumu'ah, as it is a blessed day for giving and helping those in need.

7. 🧴Perfume: It is recommended for men to apply perfume before going to jumuah prayer

Allāh says in Qur'ān: والذين لا يشهدون الزور

“And those who do not witness falsehood..” • [al-Qur'ān 25:72]

Mujāhid and other than him from the Salaf said that falsehood (Zoor) refers to the festivals of disbelievers.

قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم : من تشبه بقوم فهو منهم.

The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: “Whoever imitates a nation then he is from amongst them.”

قال عمر بن الخطاب رضي الله عنه : اجتنبوا أعداء الله في عيدهم.

‘Umar b. al-Khaṭṭāb رضي الله عنه said: “Avoid the enemies of Allāh during their festivals.” and in one narration with addition “.. for the Wrath of Allāh descends upon them during it.”

قال عبدالله بن عمرو رضي الله عنه : من مر ببلاد الاعاجم فصنع نيروزهم و مهرجانهم و تشبه بهم حتى يموت و هو كذلك حشر معهم يوم القيامة.

‘Abdullāh b. ‘Amr رضي الله عنه said: “Whoever settles in the land of the non-Arabs and celebrates their new year and festival and imitates them until he dies while he is in that state, will be gathered with them on the Day of Resurrection.”

Ibn Taymīyyāh said: “Muslims should not celebrate any festival of the disbelievers.”

1. Call her using beautiful names

2. Treat her kindly

3. Set high standards from the start:
- display good manners
- good hygiene
- don't be on your phone 24/7
- continue to offer congregational prayers in the masjid (especially Fajr - as you may stay awake throughout the night)
- set a suitable timetable for mealtimes
- occasional reminders/duroos

4. Buy her gifts occasionally (it doesn't have to be expensive - it's the thought that counts, even if it's something as trivial as a lollipop). Good Islamic books should be a priority in terms of gifts.

5. Don't rush into intercourse. Take it nice and easy. Let things happen naturally. Remember that you will be rewarded if you have the right intention. Don't forget your du'as! Make sure to satisfy her needs.

6. Help her around the house.

7. Honor her parents.

8. Let her know how much she means to you, how much you love her and how lucky you are to have her.

9. Praise her and show your appreciation when she does things for you...جزاكِ الله خيرا goes a long way.

10. Don't rush to criticise her if she makes a mistake, and never shame her in front of others.

11. Make yourself look attractive for her as you'd like her to make herself look attractive for you

12. Chat with her when you are together.

13. Phone her when you are outside to tell her how much you miss her.

14. Make the most of your time together during these early stages before kids come in the way.

15. Study the Deen together, even if it's exchanging just 1 benefit a day.

16. Avoid aggression.

17. Encourage her to avoid bad habits and bad friends.

18. Avoid talking to her about a second wife.

19. Remember her in your du'as

20. Thank Allah for blessing you with a wife. How many would wish to be in your shoes.

3. 🕌 Going to the mosque early : it is sunnah to go to the mosque early on the day of Jumu'ah for the congregational prayer and to listen to the khutbah (sermon).

4.📖 Reciting Surah Kahf : it is highly encouraged sunnah to recite Surah Kahf (chapter 18 of the Quran) on the day of Jumu'ah.

5. 🤲 Making dua : It is sunnah to make dua (supplication) on the day of Jumu'ah during the last hour before sunset, as it is a special time when duas are more likely to be accepted.

6. 💰 Giving charity : it is encouraged to give charity on the day of Jumu'ah, as it is a blessed day for giving and helping those in need.

7. 🧴Perfume: It is recommended for men to apply perfume before going to jumuah prayer

8. You fast and have sabr for the pangs of hunger and thirst but you swear, insult, curse.

9. You help others but you're doing it to gain something from them and not doing those acts of kindness for the sake of Allāh's Glory.

10. You post reminders and have thousands of followers on facebook and instagram but you're doing it for the fame, not to please Allāh.

Do not gather all your good deeds in a leaking bucket. You struggle to fill it whilst it easily runs out through the leaking holes!

May Allāh make us do all of good actions for pleasing HIM alone and may HE be pleased with us always.

Finding Good in Disappointments: Lessons from the Mother of موسى عليه السلام

Many of us have prayed for something, only to feel confused and frustrated when we receive the opposite. Think about the mother of موسى عليه السلام . When she gave birth to her son, she must have been terrified. Infants were being killed all around her, and she was desperate to protect him.

Allāh promised her that He would return موسى عليه السلام to her after she cast him into the river. Imagine her shock when he ended up in the palace of the Firaun—the very man who wanted to harm him. It seemed as if Allāh had answered her prayer with the exact opposite of what she wanted. But in reality, this was part of a greater plan. By delivering موسى عليه السلام to the palace, he was raised in a place where he could grow up to liberate the Banu Israel. What looked like an unanswered prayer actually changed the course of history.

Through this situation, not only did the mother of موسى عليه السلام get her son back, but she was also promised protection and provision.

In our lives, we might feel like we are being delivered to the “palace of the Firaun.” We might feel angry or ready to give up, but it’s important to remember that what seems like a setback could be a step toward something greater. Perhaps your struggles are leading you to your loved ones, your purpose, or a meaningful legacy.

Sometimes, when you are least expecting it, a turn unexpectedly appears on your road map, confusing you. Those of faint heart assume they are lost or must go back to the beginning. Skeptics stop proceeding, wondering where this path came from and what went wrong. Those who put their trust in Allāh go forth, understanding that Allāh is guiding them to a better path and a higher goal.

There are times that we are so blind to the path we are on that we don't really stop to think about where it is leading us. So, Allāh blesses us by placing an obstacle in our path, thereby guiding us to another path.

Hasn't the past already taught us that each and every obstacle in our lives eventually turned out for the best? Then why is it that every time another obstacle comes, we doubt and lose faith? Truly, it is possible that you do not like something, yet Allāh will place much good in it.

As mentioned in the Quran,
But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. And Allāh knows, while you do not know
(Quran 2:216).

So, the next time you face disappointment or confusion, remember to trust Allāh’s plan. What seems like a detour might actually be the path to your destiny. Alhamdulillah for Islam.
