In these places, No one will benefit me:

Ibrâhîm Ibn Adham (رحمه الله) said:

I was in the womb of my mother alone. I entered this world alone. I will die alone. I will enter my grave alone. I will be questioned (in my grave) alone. I will be resurrected from my grave alone. I will be taken to account alone. If I enter Paradise, I will enter it alone. If I enter the Hellfire, I will enter it alone.

In these places no one will benefit me, Therefore, what interest do I have in people?

Reciting the last two verses of Soorat al-Baqarah every night:

It was narrated that Abu Mas’ood al-Badri (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The last two verses of Soorat al-Baqarah, whoever recites them at night, they will be sufficient for him.”

[Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 4008; Muslim, 807]

al-Nawawi (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: “With regard to the words of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) ‘they will be sufficient for him,’ it was said that it means they will suffice instead of praying qiyaam al-layl; and it was said, they will suffice him against the Shaytaan, or against harm. From the Benefits of Winter:

It is reported from Abû Hurayrah – Allâh be pleased with him – that he said:

Shall I not point you to comfortable proceeds? People responded, “And what is that o Abû Hurayrah?” He replied, “Fasting in winter.”

The Arabs used to refer to matters which were relatively easy to gain as being cool. In this narration, the relative ease of fasting in winter and its consequent reward is likened to acquiring war proceeds without the heat of violence.

It is reported from ‘Umar – Allâh be pleased with him – that he said:

Winter is booty for the devout worshippers.

This is further explained in the following narration:

It is reported from ‘Ubayd b. ‘Umayr – Allâh have mercy on him – that he said:

It used to be said when winter came: O people of the Qurân, the night has become long so you can pray (more) and the day has become short for you to fast.

Abû Nu’aym, Hilyah Al-Awliyâ.

As with other experiences in this world, the Salaf used to be reminded of the hereafter when experiencing cold weather:

It is reported from the famous worshipper Râbi’ah – Allâh have mercy on her – that she said:

I have never heard the adhân except that I remember the caller who will announce the Day of Resurrection, and I never see the falling snow except that I imagine the flying pages of the records of peoples deeds (on that day), and I never see swarms of locusts except that I think about the Great Gathering on the Last Day.

Eating less:

Al-Hasan Al-Basree Rahimahullaah:

“The test of Aadam, alayhis-salaam, was food and it is your test until Qiyama.”

And, it used to be said:

“Whoever takes control of his stomach gets control of all good deeds.”

And:

“Wisdom does not reside in a full stomach.”

One day, Al-Hasan offered some food to his companion who said: “I have eaten until I am no longer able to eat.” To which Al-Hasan said:

“SubhaanAllaah! Does a Muslim eat until he is no longer able to eat?”

al-Hafidh Emaad ad-Deen Isma’eel Ibn Katheer (d. 774 A.H.) -Rahimullaah- said in his Tafseer about the previous Ayaat:
‘If you repented to Allaah and sought forgiveness from Him and showed obedience to Him your Rizq (provision) would increase and rain would fall from the blessings of the skies, and the blessings of the earth would spring forth, crops would grow for you. You will be given abundant livestock. You will be aided with wealth and offspring; meaning that offspring and wealth would be given to you. And you will be given gardens that have numerous types of fruits and through out there will be rivers that flow in these gardens. This is the way of giving Dawa’ by encouragement.’

Virtue of early morning and it's blessings:

The Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) said:

“O Allah, bless my people in their early mornings.” When he sent out a detachment or an army, he sent them at the beginning of the day. Sakhr was a merchant, and he would send off his merchandise at the beginning of the day; and he became rich and had much wealth.

Few Points of Benefit Related to the Above Hadeeth

This shows the importance of this time period and the greatness of the blessings and goodness with it…

The Salaf used to dislike sleeping during this time, in order not to waste it in laziness and weakness…

Ibnul Qayyim (rahimahullaah) said that the Salaf disliked sleeping between after Fajr prayer and Sunrise because it is a time in which great benefit is obtained. And even when they stayed up late at night (i.e. in worship), they still stayed up until after sunrise, for indeed it is the early part of the day and its beginning time, the time in which provision descends, the time in which one receives his portion of provision and the time in which blessings are obtained.

Supplication that's better for you in this life & hereafter:

Chapter: Issues regarding Supplications, their Virtues and Supplications of the Prophet (ﷺ)(250)-
Riyad as-Salihin 1469

Tariq bin Ashyam (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
Whenever a man entered the fold of Islam, the Prophet (ﷺ) would show him how to perform Salat and then direct him to supplicate: "Allahumm-aghfir li, warhamni, wa-hdini, wa 'afini, warzuqni (O Allah! Forgive me, have mercy on me, guide me, guard me against harm and provide me with sustenance and salvation)."'

[Muslim].

In another narration Tariq said: A man came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said to him: "O Messenger of Allah! What shall I say if I want to pray to my Rubb?" He (ﷺ) said, "Say: 'Allahumma-ghfir li, warhamni, wa 'afini, warzuqni (O Allah! Forgive me, have mercy on me, protect me and provide me with sustenance).' Surely, this supplication is better for you in this life and in the Hereafter."

The Words of Allah: “Verily, Good Deeds Remove Evil Deeds”:

‘Abdullah bin Mas’ud (رضي الله عنه) narrated a man kissed a woman, and then he came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and told him. Then it was revealed, “And perform as-salat, at the two ends of the day and in some hours of the night. Verily, the good deeds remove the evil deeds. That is a reminder for the mindful.” (11:114) The man asked, “Is that just for me, O Messenger of Allah?” He said: “It is for anyone who does that among my Ummah.”

[Sahih Muslim, The Book of Repentance, 2763 a]

Explanation
This man was a Muslim named Abu Yasir Ka’b ibn Amr. He went to the Prophet (ﷺ) and told him what he did.

“And perform as-salat…” Stand-you and your Ummah, O Muhammad-for the obligatory prayers.

“…at the two ends of the day…” At the beginning of the day and the end. Ibn ‘Abbas viewed these to be Fajr and Maghrib, Adh-Dhahhak believed they were Fajr and Asr, and Muqatil held they referred to Fajr and Dhuhr.

“…and in some hours of the night.” During the first part of the night that immediately follows the day, i.e, Maghrib. Additionally included is Isha, the last part of the night that immediately precedes the day.

“Verily, good deeds remove evil deeds.” Good deeds are an expiation for minor sins. If a person commits minor sins and does good deeds, these actions remove those minor sins. This ruling isn’t extended to the major sins. It has been proven that only the minor sins are expiated by good deeds.

Allah says, “If you avoid the great sins which you are forbidden, We shall remit from you your (small) sins.” (An-Nisa’:31) An-Nawawi (May Allah have mercy on him) said, “Allah says, ‘Verily, the good deeds remove the evil deeds.’ The scholars differ about the meaning of good deeds. Ath-Tha’labi said most of the people interpret good deeds to refer to the five daily obligatory prayers. Mujahid said good deeds are “Subhan’Allah, Alhamdulilah, La ilaha illAllah, Allahu akbar.”

“That is a reminder for the mindful.” This verse appeals to a person’s conscience as a warning.

“The man said, ‘Is that just for me, O Messenger of Allah?’ He said, ‘It is for anyone who does that among my Ummah.'” The man asked if this was specifically for him and the Prophet (ﷺ) informed him this was for his entire Ummah until the day of Judgment. Thus, bad deeds are erased by good deeds.

Brief Commentary

The Prophet (SallaAllahu ‘alayhi wasallam) used to say this supplication in the morning, soon after completing the Fajr prayer [1]
The Prophet (SallaAllahu ‘alayhi wasallam) teaches us in this hadith to ask Allah for beneficial knowledge. From this, it is inferred that not all knowledge is beneficial
Beneficial knowledge is the knowledge that increases the awe of Allah in a person’s heart, and pushes him to increase in righteous actions
Allah says in the Qur’an {From His servants, it is only the scholars that fear Allah} [2] therefore those who have acquired beneficial knowledge are the ones who truly fear Allah
The second thing that is asked for in this hadith is good provision. Good provision is that which is halal and pleasing to Allah
Haram income is something that is detrimental to a person’s life and hereafter, and is a cause for non-acceptance of du’aa, see the commentary on Hadith 10 of Imam Al-Nawawi’s 40 ahadith
Good provision is not limited to financial income, but also includes anything that brings a person closer to Allah, such as recitation of the Qur’an with concentration, remembrance of Allah with a present heart, the increase of a person’s Iman, a pious spouse and offspring, etc.
The final thing that is asked for in this hadith is acceptance of good deeds. We understand from this that not every good deed we do is automatically accepted by Allah
The great Sahabi Abu Al-Dardaa’ would say, “For me to be certain that Allah has accepted one of my Salah is more beloved to me than the dunya and what is in it” [3]
Imam Ibn Kathir said, “Acceptable actions must fulfil two conditions; they must be sincere for the sake of Allah, and must be in accordance with the shari’ah” [4]

Action Points:
A person who studies this religion should ask himself what effects the studies have had on his relationship with Allah and on his actions. Shaykh Ibn Uthaymeen said, “How many laypeople you see they have awe of Allah, consciousness of Allah, good manners and righteous worship that far surpass what a student of knowledge has” [5]
Ensure you seek knowledge for the sake of Allah and act upon what you learn. Knowledge is studied to increase in righteous actions, not for academic pleasures, or even worse, to seek a part of this dunya
Beneficial knowledge was mentioned first as it is what allows a person to ensure they have good provisions, and acceptable deeds
Ensure your income is halal and any transactions you make are halal so that you can be from those who have good provision
Ensure you study the religion properly so that you can perform actions which are in accordance with the shari’ah, and ensure you perform them sincerely for the sake of Allah so that they may be accepted

Be sincere and seek knowledge:

Whoever goes down a path searching for knowledge, Allāh will make it easy for him the path to Paradise.

The angels lower their wings being pleased with the one who seeks knowledge – and the seeker of knowledge – everyone seeks forgiveness for him from the heavens and the earth, even the fish in an ocean.

Mālik b. Dīnār used to say,

“Whoever does not feel a sense of companionship in the speech of Allāh but does with the speech of creation; then indeed his knowledge has diminished, his heart has become blind and he has wasted his life”

[Rawḍat al-ʿUqalāʾ (85)]

Shaykh al-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah said,

“Reciting the Qurʾān in the commanded manner causes strong īmān and increases it in certainty, tranquillity and cure”

“He who recites in the morning and in the evening the statement: `Subhan-Allahi wa bihamdihi (Allah is free from imperfection and I begin with praising Him)’ one hundred times,

will not be surpassed on the Day of Resurrection by anyone with better deeds than one who utters the same words or utters more of these words.”

(29)Chapter: Sins(29)

Sunan Ibn Majah 4245

It was narrated from Thawban that the Prophet (ﷺ) said:

“I certainly know people of my nation who will come on the Day of Resurrection with good deeds like the mountains of Tihamah, but Allah will make them like scattered dust.” Thawban said: “O Messenger of Allah, describe them to us and tell us more, so that we will not become of them unknowingly.” He (ﷺ) said: “They are your brothers and from your race, worshipping at night as you do, but they will be people who, when they are alone, transgress the sacred limits of Allah.”

Forgotten Sunnah: Wake up at Night, Recite this Dhikr and seek Forgiveness:

Narrated ‘Ubada bin As-Samit: The Prophet -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam-said:

“Whoever gets up at night and says:

‘There is none worthy of worship in truth except Allaah Alone, He has no partners, He has the Dominion and for Him is all praise, and He is capable of all things, praise is for Him, and Far is Allaah from imperfection, and There is none worthy of worship in truth except Allaah, and Allaah is the Greatest, there is no capability nor is there any power except with Allaah.

Then he says :

O Allaah forgive me (Allaahumma aghfirlee), or he supplicates and his supplication is answered, and if he makes Wudu and prays then his prayer is accepted.

Sunnah before sleep:

Doing wudoo’ before going to sleep is one of the things which is it recommended to do before going to sleep.

A hadeeth was narrated to this effect, in which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “When you go to bed, do wudoo’ as for prayer.”

(Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 247; Muslim 2710).

Ibn Hajar said: The apparent meaning is that it is mustahabb for everyone who wants to go to sleep to renew his wudoo’, even if he already has wudoo’. It may be interpreted as applying only to the one who has broken his wudoo’.

Al-Nawawi said: if a person has wudoo’, that is sufficient for him, because the point is to go to sleep having wudoo’, lest he die in his sleep, and so that he dreams will be more true, and so that the Shaytaan will be less likely to play with his dreams and terrify him.
