A delegation from the Al maktoum Foundation in the United Arab Emirates visited Jigjiga University to mark a significant milestone in developing the 𝗔𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗰 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁. This collaboration was solidified with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), with 𝗗𝗿. 𝗔𝗯𝗱𝗶 𝗔𝗵𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝗛𝗮𝘀𝗮𝗻, 𝗩𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝗳𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗝𝗶𝗴𝗷𝗶𝗴𝗮 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗿. The MOU opens doors for collaborative programs that include:

Jigjiga University is thrilled to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between JJU S.H.Yabare Comprehensive Specialized Hospital and Tazma Medical and Surgical Specialty Center, a pioneer in cardiac surgeries.

Dr. Abdulahi Hussein, Vice President for IoHs & JJUSHYCSH, formalized the partnership with the presence of Dr. Mussa, Head of the Somali Regional State Health Bureau, during a ceremony held at the SRS Presidential Palace.

Key Highlights of the Agreement:

From October 15-18, 2024, Jigjiga University, in collaboration with EAWAG - The Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology, hosted a transformative Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Training for university students across various departments.

Theme: From University to Schools – A WASH Collaboration of Jigjiga University & Eawag

This training was essential in building students' knowledge in water safety, waste management, and hygiene practices. These empowered students will now lead awareness campaigns both at Jigjiga University and selected schools in Jigjiga city to promote these vital practices.

As a key outcome, students have formed a WASH Club dedicated to maintaining cleanliness at the university and surrounding schools. Together, they aim to spread the message of their slogan:

“Clean School, Happy School”
“Dugsi Nadiifa, Jawi Farxadeed”
