Cornell General Supplemental Essay.
How I Would Write It?

First of all, you want to understand the imperative of the essay: in this case, it's telling you to Explain how your life experiences will help inform your contributions to a learning community devoted to “... any person … any study.” So Cornell wants you to talk about a story / moment / experience that has changed you for the better, and how you will Use that knowledge and experience to contribute to the inclusive / welcoming environment of Cornell.

After understanding this, you want to brainstorm ideas. Not just brainstorm essay topics, but key ideas you will incorporate in your essay. In this case you want to be thinking about

Communities- What communities are/have you been a part of? List them all and try to rank them based off of importance to you? (Look at prompt for examples)

Life experiences - What experiences have you been through in that community and how have they shaped who you are or what have they taught you? List all experiences for every community but match 1 community with the most important experience.

(Most important) Contributions - From the life experience in the community you chose, What have you learned? What character trait have you developed? Write about how you will use the things you've learned and developed to give to Cornell and improve the overall student body. List all of the possible things you CAN contribute to Cornell and try to choose something unique.

After brainstorming, now write about that 1 contribution from the 1 life experience you got from the 1 important community you were a part of. Focus on writing about YOU as a person, don't focus on the experience, focus on how the experience affected you. There is no right / wrong way to write an essay, keep on revising and changing things until you like it. Write as many drafts as you need.

Tell a story about yourself and try to convince the reader to choose you over others (but don't go overboard on bragging)

Hopefully this helps you out not only with the Cornell Supplemental essay, but any essay you will be writing in the future. Best of Luck!

waiting for you at cornell:)

Cornell First-Year Writing Supplement Prompts

Cornell University Essay Question
In the aftermath of the U.S. Civil War, Ezra Cornell wrote, "I would found an institution where any person can find instruction in any study." For over 150 years, Cornell University has remained deeply committed to Ezra’s vision. Explain how your life experiences will help inform your contributions to a learning community devoted to “... any person … any study.” We encourage you to think broadly about your life experiences, including how local (e.g., family, school, neighborhood) or global communities you’ve been part of have helped shape your perspective. (350 word limit)

Besides that, there are other College-and-School specific Essay Questions of each College.
For example, the question for ppl applying to College of Arts & Sciences is:
At the College of Arts and Sciences, curiosity will be your guide. Discuss how your passion for learning is shaping your academic journey, and what areas of study or majors excite you and why. Your response should convey how your interests align with the College, and how you would take advantage of the opportunities and curriculum in Arts and Sciences. (650 word limit)

If this post gets 800 “❤️” reactions and over 300 “+”s in comments, I will share the technique I used when I wrote my supplemental essays.

save it, i’m waiting for you at Cornell:)

Already working on my first semester schedule in Cornell.

I've been looking at course/prof reviews, major requirements, course times for the past 3 hours to get the right schedule. I know it will feel weird going back to studying after taking a break for a year, but it must be done.

In the photo you can see what the schedule of an average Freshman in America looks like. Any surpries?

Practice question for you guys from the Digital SAT math section (Module 2)

🖥Firdavs.Exe 👾

Yesterday, March 11, 2023. Taking the first official Digital SAT.

I took the test at the Presidential School in Tashkent, an amazing test center.
• Tight security, absolutely nobody could cheat.
• Fast Wi-Fi, paper, water, and pencils were all provided by PS
• Comfortable desks, charging ports for everyone
• Competent Invigilators

I would actually say that, right now, the digital SAT is harder than its paper predecessor. I say this because of it's new adaptive testing system which gives everyone different questions depending on their previous answers (Which defeats the purpose of calling it a standardized test, but I digrees). The limited resources to practice and new question types also didn't help the first people in the world taking the digital SAT test.

My experience:
I couldn't reach my maximum potential on the test, I made some careless mistakes because I didn't take the test seriously (why would, I already have a good score) but I don't think I did super bad. I don't expect an amazing score, I don't even expect to share my score with anybody except the people closest to me. We shall see koroche

Were there any hard questions?
No, not really, all of them were solvable. I'll send you guys a question that I know I got wrong for you guys to try and solve. The only thing close to being challenging were the vocabulary questions in Module 2. So please Learn Vocabulary

Tips for future test takers?
Maybe in a future post if you guys want it, I'm not sure.
