የኢትዮጵያ የሕግ ባለሙያ ሴቶች ማኅበር ከአውሮፓ ህብረት ጋር በመተባበር  የካቲት 5 ቀን 2017 ዓ.ም በአፋር ክልል፣ ሰመራ ከተማ ጾታን መሰረት ያደረገ ጥቃት ተጎጂዎች እና ሰብዓዊ መብት ላይ  ከዱብቲ፣ ከአብዓላ እና ከአዋሽ 7 ከተወጣጡ ባለድርሻ አካላት ጋር  የውይይት እና የምክክር መድረክ ያካሔደ ሲሆን የመድረኩ ዋና ዓላማ ከተለያዩ የህግ አስከባሪ አካላት፣ የጤና ባለሙያዎች፣ የአንድ መስኮት አገልግሎት መስጫ ማዕከላት ሃላፊዎች እና የፍትህ አካላትን በማወያየት ጾታን መሰረት ያደረገ ጥቃት የደረሰባቸው ተጎጂዎች ፍትህ እንዳያገኙ የሚያደርጉ እንቅፋቶችን በመለየት ነፃ የህግ ድጋፍ እና ሌሎች ድጋፎችን የሚያገኙበት ሁኔታዎች አስመልክቶ ከዚህ ቀደም በተዘጋጀው የድርጊት መርሃ ግብር  ላይ ለመወያየት ነው፡፡

በዚህም መሰረት ባለድርሻ አካላቱ ከዚህ ቀደም በተዘጋጀው የድርጊት መርሃ ግብር ላይ ውይይት ያደረጉ ሲሆን በድርጊት መርሃ ግብር መሰረት  ያከናወኗቸውን  ያልተከናወኑትን ተግባራት እንዲሀም ያገጠሟቸው ተግዳራቶች ላይ ውይይት አደርገዋል፡፡ በቀጣይም በጋራ ለመስራት በሚያስችላቸው አሰራር ላይ ውይይት አደርገዋል፡፡

On February 12, 2025, the Ethiopian Women Lawyers' Association (EWLA), in partnership with the European Union (EU), organized a significant Regional Multi-Stakeholder Dialogue and Consultation Meeting as part of the EAGLE-Project.

This initiative was aimed at improving the human rights of survivors of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) by enhancing their access to justice and essential support services, specifically in Afar region.

The primary goal of this regional dialogue was to bring together stakeholders who play critical roles in addressing SGBV including representatives from various sectors: law enforcement agencies, healthcare providers, one-stop service centers, and members of the justice sector from Dubti, Abala, and Awash 7.

During the meeting, participants engaged in a thorough discussion regarding an action plan that had been developed previously. They reviewed the activities that had been implemented since the plan's inception, identifying those that were successful and those that had not yet been executed. A significant focus was given on understanding the challenges they encountered during these efforts.

The dialogue emphasized the importance of effective collaboration among all stakeholders moving forward. This collaborative approach is essential for creating a more coordinated response that not only supports survivors but also works towards preventing future incidents of SGBV. Overall, this meeting represented a crucial step in reinforcing the commitment of various stakeholders to improve the legal and social frameworks surrounding SGBV in Afar region, ensuring that survivors receive the justice and support they need to rebuild their lives.

የኢትዮጵያ የሕግ ባለሙያ ሴቶች ማኅበር (ኢ.ሕ.ባ.ሴ.ማ) ከመጠበቅ አንችልም ፕሮጀክት ጋር በመተባበር. ከየካቲት 4-5 ቀን 2017 ዓ/ም በአዳማ ከተማ በኢኮኖሚ፣ በማህበራዊ፣ በህጋዊ እና በፖለቲካዊ አውዶች የሴቶች ተሳትፎ” በሚል ርዕሰጉዳይ ላይ የምክክር መድረክ አካሂዷል፡፡

መድረኩ ከዚህ ቀደም ሴቶች ሀገራዊ እና ማህበራዊ ጉዳዮች ውስጥ ያላቸውን የውሳኔ አሰጣጥ ደረጃ እንዲሁም የክልል እና የሀገር አቀፍ የመንግስት አካላት በአዳማ ከሚገኙ የማህበረሰብ ተወካይ ባለድርሻ አካላት ጋር ያላቸው ግንኙነት ዙሪያ በተካሄደ የዳሰሳ ጥናት ላይ ያተኮረ ሲሆን የሴቶችን ትርጉም ያለው ተሳትፎ፣ በውሳኔ አሰጣጥ ላይ የሚያጋሟቸውን ተግዳሮቶች የመሳሰሉ ጉዳዮች በከተማዋ አካባቢዎች መኖራቸውን ወይም የታዩ መሻሻሎችን ለመገምገም ያለመ ነበር። የተገኙት ግኝቶች በሴቶች ላይ የሚያጋጥሙ ተግዳሮቶችን ለመፍታት ከማገዛቸውም ባሻገር የተሳታፊዎችን ግንዛቤ እንደሚያሳድጉ ከመድረኩ መረዳት ተችሏል፡፡.

በመድረኩ ከመንግስት ተቋማት፣ እስከ ወረዳ ደረጃ ከሚገኙ የሴቶች መዋቅር፣ ከሲቪክ ማህበራት ድርጅቶች፣ ከባህላዊ ፍርድ ቤቶች እና ከከተማው ምክር ቤት የተወከሉ የሥራ ኃላፊዎችና ባለድርሻ አካላት ተሳትፈውበታል።

From February 11-12, 2025, EWLA organized a workshop on Women's Participation in Economic, Social, Legal, and Political Spheres in Adama under the WCW project.

The workshop was based on a research on: women's decision-making power at home and in the community, as well as regional and national government interactions with traditional stakeholders in Adama.

Its main goal was to assess whether challenges to women's meaningful participation in decision-making continued to exist within these areas of the city or if any progress had been made. The findings were used in a later sensitization session with the aim of helping to address the issues identified for women.

The workshop brought together different stakeholders and representatives from government institutions, grassroots women, civil society organizations, traditional courts, and the City Council.

በኦሮሚያ ክልል ምዕራብ ሸዋ ዞን ሜታ ወልቂጤ ወረዳ የ8 ዓመቷ ህፃን ሲምቦ ብርሃኑ ከቤት ተወስዳ ከተደፈረች በኋላ ታንቃ ተሰቅላ እና ተገድላ መገኘቷ ተሰምቷል፡፡

ማሕበራችን ከዚህ ቀደም በ5 ዓመቷ ህፃን ሄቨን ዓወት፣ አሁን ደግሞ በ8 ዓመቷ ህፃን ሲምቦ እና በሌሎችም ሴቶችና ህፃናት ላይ ለደረሰው ፆታዊ ጥቃት እና የወንጀል ድርጊት እንዲሁም በቅርቡ በዲላ ከተማ አንድ ግለሰብ ከ18 ዓመት በታች በሆኑ ልጃገረዶች ላይ የአስገድዶ መድፈር ሙከራና ወንጀል ፈጽሞ በ5 ዓመት ፅኑ እስራት እንዲቀጣ ፍርድ መሰጠቱን ተከትሎ ሁሉንም ጉዳዮች ሲከታተል ቆይቷል፤ እየተከታተለም ይገኛል፡፡

የ8 ዓመቷ ህፃን ሲምቦ በደረሰባት ጥቃት ለሞት መዳረጓን ተከትሎ የተሰማንን ጥልቅ ሀዘን እየገለፅን ለወላጆቿና ቤተሰቦቿ መጽናናትን እንመኛለን ፡፡

ከዚህ ጋር ተያይዞ የፍትህ አካላት ገለልተኛ መሆናችሁ እንደተጠበቀ ሆኖ ወደፊት ተመሳሳይ ጥቃቶች እንዳይፈፀሙ መከላከል ይቻል ዘንድ፤ በሟች ህፃን ሲምቦ ላይ የተፈፀመው የወንጀል ድርጊት አፋጣኝ ፍትህ ይሰጠው ዘንድ፣ ወንጀለኞቹ እንዲያዙና የወንጀል ድርጊቱን የሚገልፁ ድንጋጌዎች በህግ አግባብ ተጠናክረው እንዲተገበሩ የበኩላችሁን ድርሻ ትወጡ ዘንድ እንጠይቃለን፡፡

#በሴቶችና ህፃናት ላይ ጥቃት ሲፈጸም የሚሰጡ ፍርዶች ወንጀለኛን ሳይሆን የተጎጂን ጥቃት የሚያንፀባርቁ መሆን እንደሚኖርባቸው እናሳስባለን፡፡
#አሁንም በሴቶችና ህፃናት ላይ እየተፈፀሙ ያሉ ጥቃቶችን መከላከል ይቻል ዘንድ የሚወሰኑት ቅጣቶች አስተማሪና የማያዳግሙ እንዲሆኑ የሚመለከታችሁ አካላት የበኩላችሁን ድርሻ እንድትወጡ ጥሪ እናቀርባለን፡፡

የመድረኩ ዋና ዓላማ የህግ አስከባሪ/የፍትህ አካላት፣ የጤና ባለሙያዎች፣ የአንድ መስኮት አገልግሎት መስጫ ማዕከላት ሃላፊዎችና የተለያዩ ባለድርሻ አካላትን በማወያየት ጾታን መሰረት ያደረጉ ጥቃቶች የደረሱባቸው ተጎጂዎች የሚገጥሟቸውን ፍትህ የማግኘት እንቅፋቶች በመለየት ነፃ የህግ ድጋፍ እና ሌሎች ድጋፎችን የሚያገኙበትን ሁኔታ አስመልክቶ ከዚህ ቀደም በተዘጋጀው የድርጊት መርሃ ግብር ላይ ለመወያየት ነው፡፡

በዚህም መሰረት ባለድርሻ አካላቱ ቀደም ሲል በተዘጋጀው የድርጊት መርሃ ግብር ላይ ውይይት አድርገው በድርጊት መርሃ ግብሩ መሰረት የተከናወኑና ያልተከናወኑ ተግባራት እንዲሁሞ ያጋጠሟቸው ተግዳሮቶች ላይ ተወያይተው በቀጣይ በጋራ መስራት በሚያስችሏቸው ጉዳዮች ላይ አቅጣጫ አስቀምጠዋል፡፡

መድረኩ በአጠቃላይ በአማራ ክልል የሚገኙ የጥቃት ሰለባዎች ፍተህ እና የሕግ ድጋፍ በሚያገኙበት አሰራርና የሕግ ማዕቀፍ አተገባበር ላይ የባለድርሻ አካላት ቁርጠኝነት የታየበትና አንድ እርምጃ ወደፊት የተሄደበት ነበር::

የኢትዮጵያ የሕግ ባለሙያ ሴቶች ማኅበር (ኢ.ሕ.ባ.ሴ.ማ) ከ መጠበቅ አንችልም ፕሮጀክት ጋር በመተባበር አዲስ የተዘጋጀውን የቤኒሻንጉል ጉሙዝ ክልላዊ መንግስት ፍርድ ቤት ረቂቅ አዋጅ አስመልክቶ ከጥር 19- 20 ቀን 2017 ዓ/ም አዋጁ ከመጽደቁ በፊት በሚኖሩ ሂደቶች ላይ ያተኮረ የሁለት ቀናት የውይይት መድረክ በአዲስ አበባ ከተማ አካሂዷል።

በመድረኩ ከቤንሻንጉል ጉሙዝ ከፍተኛ ፍርድ ቤት፣ ከከፍተኛ ትምህርት ተቋማት፣ ከክልሉ ምክር ቤት ጽ/ቤት የተውጣጡ ከፍተኛ የስራ ኃላፊዎችና ተወካዮች እንዲሁም የኢ.ሕ.ባ.ሴ.ማ የክልል በጎ ፈቃደኞች ተሳትፈዋል። ተሳታፊዎች ረቂቅ ሰነዱን ለማዳበር የሚያስችሉ ግብአቶችን በማሰባሰብ፤ በአዋጁ ውስጥ መካተትና መሻሻል ያለባቸውን አስፈላጊ ማሻሻያዎች በመለየት የፖለቲካ እና ውሳኔ ሰጪ አካላትን ድጋፍ ለመሳብ የሚያስችል ሰነድ ማዘጋጀት አስፈላጊ መሆኑን አጽንኦት ሰጥተው ተወያይተዋል። በዚህም መድረኩ ረቂቅ አዋጁ ከመጽደቁ በፊት ከባለድርሻ አካላት ጋር በመመካከርና በውሳኔ ሰጪዎች ላይ ውጤታማ ተፅዕኖ ለመፍጠር የሚያስችሉ ግብአቶችን በማሰባሰብ ትርጉም ያለው ውይይት የተካሄደበት ነበር፡፡

From January 27-28, 2025, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopian Women Lawyers' Association (EWLA) in collaboration with the We Cannot Wait (WCW) project, held a two-day advocacy workshop focused on the Deliberative Process concerning the pre-ratification of the New Courts Bill for the Benishangul Gumuz Regional Government.

The workshop brought together participants from various sectors, including the Benishangul Gumuz high court, higher education institutions, the regional council office, EWLA's regional volunteers, and senior officials. Extensive discussions took place regarding the draft documents, allowing for valuable inputs to improve the draft document. The workshop emphasized the importance of identifying necessary amendments to the proclamation and garnering support from political and decision-making authorities. This session fostered meaningful dialogue about the proclamation prior to its ratification, facilitating consultations with stakeholders and collecting insights to effectively influence decision-makers.

ስድስተኛው የኢፌዴሪ የሕዝብ ተወካዮች ምክር ቤት ጥር 15/2017 ዓ.ም ባደረገዉ 4ኛ ዓመት የሥራ ዘመን 16ኛ መደበኛ ስብሰባ ላይ ክብርት ወ/ሮ ስመኝ ውቤ የህዝብ ዕምባ ጠባቂ ተቋም ዋና ዕምባ ጠባቂ ሆነው በመመረጣቸው የተሰማንን ደስታ እየገለጽን እንኳን ደስ አለዎት በማለት መልካም የሥራ ዘመን እንዲሆንላቸው እንመኛለን፡፡

ዋና ዕንባ ጠባቂ ክብርት ወ/ሮ ስመኝ ከዚህ ቀደም በሴቶች፣ ህጻናት እና ወጣቶች ሚኒስቴር፣ በማዕድን እና ነዳጅ ሚኒስቴር እንዲሁም በፍትህ ሚኒስቴር እና በሌሎች የፌደራል ተቋማት በአመራርነት ማገልገላቸው ይታወሳል፡፡

In January 2025, a delegation led by EWLA’s executive Directress, Lensa Biyena along with representatives from The David and Lucile Packard Foundation, higher government officials from Ethiopian Ministry of Health, Education, Justice, Women and Social Affairs, Plan and Development Commission, CSOs and Academicians paid an experience sharing visit to Kenya to discuss on sexual Reproductive Health and Right (SRHR).

The visit aimed to use lessons from the initiative to enhance women's health rights and improve SRHR services in Ethiopia.

The delegation together with the Kenyan team had conducted an in-depth discussions and knowledge sharing sessions on Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). The session focused on key issues including facilitating dialogues between Ethiopian delegates and Kenyan partners on effective SRHR strategies, exploring Kenya’s supportive legal structures and their impacts on women's health, and enhancing advocacy skills through shared insights. A learning visit, engaging presentations, field trips to local health facilities, and networking sessions to help establish lasting networks with Kenyan organizations were held. These collaborative efforts demonstrate a significant step towards advancing healthcare initiatives and promoting comprehensive well-being in the region.

As a way forward, EWLA and the FDRE Ministry of Health team have planned to organize similar experience-sharing platform to disseminate the insights they gained from their visit in Kenya to Ethiopian stakeholders.

በመድረኩ ተገኝተው ለተሳታፊዎች የእንኳን ደህና መጣችሁ መልዕክት ያስተላለፍፉት የኢ.ሕ.ባ.ሴ.ማ የፕሮግራም አስተባባሪ አቶ ወንድምነህ ለማ እንዳሉት ማኅበሩ ከኮሳፕ ጋር በመተባበር ለሴት የቤት ሰራተኞች ምቹ የስራ ሁኔታ መፍጠርን አስመልክቶ ለሴት የቤት ሰራተኞችና ለሌሎች የሚመለከታቸውና ባለድርሻ አካላት የህይወት ክህሎት፤ የሙያ፤ የተግባቦት እንዲሁም የግንዛቤ ማስጨበጫ ሥልጠናዎችን እየሰጠ መሆኑን ገልጸዋል፡፡ አቶ ወንድምነህ አያይዘውም ለሴት የቤት ውስጥ ሰራተኞች ምቹ የስራ ሁኔታ ለመፍጠር የሚያስችል የህግ ማዕቀፍ እንዲወጣ ጫና ለማድረግ ያለመና “ጀስቲሺያ” የተሰኘ ፊልም ተሰርቶ ለህብረተሰቡ ተደራሽ መደረጉን ጠቁመዋል፡፡ ከዚህም ሌላ በነጻ የሕግ ድጋፍ ፕሮግራሙ ለሴት የቤት ሰራተኞች ነጻ የሕግ ምክር አገልግሎት እየሰጠ መሆኑን አስታውሰው በቀጣይም ሰራተኞቹ ማንኛውም ዓይነት ጾታዊ ጥቃት ቢደርስባቸው የማኅበሩ በር ክፍት መሆኑንና ባሉበት ሆነውም በነጻ የስልክ መስመር “7711” በመደወል ነጻ የሕግ ድጋፍ አገልግሎቱን ማግኘት እንደሚችሉ ጠቁመዋል፡፡

በመድረኩ የስራና ክህሎት ሚኒስቴር፣ የኢትዮጵያ ሰራተኞች ማህበራት ኮንፌደሬሽን፣ የኢትዮጵያ ሰብዓዊ መብት ድርጅቶች ኅብረት እንዲሁም የአንድነት ኢትዮጵያ ሴት የቤት ሰራተኞች ማህበር ከፍተኛ የሥራ ኃላፊዎችና ተወካዮች የተለያዩ ቁልፍ መልዕክቶችን አስተላልፈዋል፡፡

መልዕክቶቹን ተከትሎም አንዲት የቤት ሰራተኛ ሴት ለ17 ዓመታት በግለሰብ ቤት ውስጥ ተቀጥረው ሲሰሩ የገጠሟቸውን ውጣ ውረዶችና ተግዳሮቶች አስመልክቶ ምስክርነታቸውንና ልምዳቸውን አካፍለዋል፤ የፓናል ውይይትም ተካሂዶ የተለያዩ ሃሳብ አስተያየቶችና ጥያቄዎች ከተሳታፊዎች ተንጸባርቀው ከመድረኩ ምላሽና ማብራሪያ ተሰቶባቸዋል፡፡ በመጨረሻም “ጀስቲሺያ” የተሰኘው ፊልም ማስተዋወቂያ ቀንጨብ ተደርጎ ለተሳታፊዎች እይታ ከቀረበ በኋላ መድረኩ ፍጻሜውን አግኝቷል፡፡

The high-level and multi-sector advocacy workshop organized by EWLA and COSAP in partnership with the David and Lucille Packard Foundation on "Creating Decent working conditions for female domestic workers" concluded successfully. (December 27, 2017, Addis Ababa)

In his welcoming remark, the program coordinator of EWLA. Mr. Wendmneh Lemma, highlighted the initiatives done by EWLA and COSAP such as; life skills, communication, vocational and awareness raising trainings for female domestic workers and other key stakeholders; and the advocacy film "Justitia," that has been conducted to promote and advocate the drafting of a legal framework for female domestic workers’ right. He also indicated the availability of free legal aid service through a toll-free number "7711." for female domestic workers facing gender-based violence.

The forum featured various keynote messages and insights by higher officials and representatives from the Ministry of Labor and Skill, Confederation of Ethiopian Trade Union, Consortium of Ethiopian Human Rights Organizations and Andinet Ethiopian Female Domestic Workers Association, along with a heartbreaking testimony from a female domestic worker sharing her 17-year journey challenges while working in individuals’ houses. A lively panel discussion followed, engaging participants with diverse ideas and reflections. The event concluded with a film trailer "Justicia," that will be leaving a lasting impact on the attendees.

የኢትዮጵያ የሕግ ባለሙያ ሴቶች ማኅበር ከዴቪድ እና ሉሲል ፓካርድ ፋውንዴሽን ጋር በመተባበር ከታህሳስ 17᎐18 ቀን 2017 ዓ/ም የሁለት ቀናት አድቮኬሲ ወርክሾፕ በሶማሌ ክልል ጅግጅጋ አካሄደ። መድረኩ በክልሉ ረቂቅ የቤተሰብ ሕግ ላይ ያተኮረና የሴቶች እና ልጃገረዶችን ጾታዊ እና ስነ ተዋልዶ ጤና እና መብቶችን (SRHR) ለማሳደግ ያለመ ነበር።


በመድረኩ ተሳታፊዎች በጾታዊ እና ስነ ተዋልዶ ጤና እና መብቶች (SRHR) ፖሊሲዎች እና አፈጻጸም ላይ ያሉትን ክፍተቶች በመፍታት ዙሪያ ውይይት አካሂደዋል፤ ውይይቱም በአጠቃላይ ጾታዊ እና ስነ ተዋልዶ ጤና እና መብቶች ያሉበትን ሁኔታ ገምግሟል፣ የሚያጋጥሙ ተግዳሮቶችን ነቅሶ አውጥቷል፣ የቤተሰብ ሕጉ ሁሉን አቀፍ ሆኖ በፍጥነት የመፅደቁን አስፈላጊነትም ተሰምሮበታል። የክልሉ ቁልፍ ባለድርሻ አካላትም ረቂቅ ህጉ በክልሉ ውስጥ ጾታዊ እና ስነ ተዋልዶ ጤና እና መብቶች ከማስፋፋት ጋር ያለውን ወሳኝ ግንኙነት በማጉላት ረቂቅ ህጉ ከማህበረሰብ እሴቶች ጋር መጣጣሙን በተመለከተ ያሉ ስጋቶችን አብራርተዋል።


Ethiopian Women Lawyers' Association (EWLA) in partnership with the David and Lucile Packard Foundation held a two-day advocacy workshop from December 26-27, 2024, in Jigjiga, Somali Region. The workshop focused on the regional draft Family Law and its role in enhancing the sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) of women and girls.


Participants engaged in discussions to address the existing gaps in SRHR policies and their implementation. The workshop evaluated the status of SRHR, identified challenges, and underscored the importance of comprehensive Family Law and its approval. Key regional actors clarified concerns regarding the draft law's alignment with community values, emphasizing its critical connection to advancing SRHR in the region.

በመድረኩ የሴቶችና ማህበራዊ ጉዳይ ሚኒስቴር እንዲሁም የሥራና ክህሎት ጽ/ቤት ከፍተኛ የሥራ ሃላፊዎችና ተወካዮችን ጨምሮ ከተለያዩ ሚዳያዎች፣ ከአጋር አካላት፣ ከሲቪል ማህበረሰብ ድርጅቶች፣ ከፋይናንስ ተቋማት፣ ከክልሎች የተውጣጡ የራስ አገዝ ቡድን አባላት፣ የቤት ሰራተኞች ማህበራት፣ ወጣት ሴት አመራሮች በመሳተፍ ላይ ይገኛሉ፡፡ ከታኅሳስ 17-18 ቀን 2017 ዓ.ም ለሁለት ተከታታይ ቀናት በሚካሄደው በዚህ መድረክ ለሴት የቤት ውስጥ ሠራተኞች ምቹ የሥራ ሁኔታዎችን መፍጠር አስመልክቶ የተለያዩ የፓናል ውይይቶችና የልምድ ልውውጦች እየተካሄዱ ሲሆን አንዳንድ የቤት ውስጥ ሰራተኞችም በሚሰሩባቸው ቤቶች ውስጥ ስለሚገጥሟቸው ተግዳሮቶችና ውጣ ውረዶች ልምዳቸውን አካፍለዋል፡፡ከፓናል ውይይቱ ጎን ለጎን ደግሞ አጋር አካላት ስራዎቻቸውን የሚያስተዋውቁበትና የእርስበርስ ትሥሥራቸውን የሚያጠናክሩበት አውደርዕይ እየተካሄደ ሲሆን ኢ.ሕ.ባ.ሴ.ማ በበኩሉ ስራዎቹን እያስተዋወቀ ይገኛል፡፡

Ethiopian Women Lawyers’ Association (EWLA) and CoSAP in partnership with the David and Lucile Packard Foundation have organized a 2 days’ high-level multi-sector advocacy workshop on “Promoting Decent Working Conditions for Female Domestic Workers in Ethiopia”. Higher government officials and representatives, CSOs, Donors, Medias, Finance Institutions, Youth leaders, SHG women, and Domestic workers are participating in the workshop.

In the forum, which is on progress from December 26-27, 2024, different panel discussion sessions related to Promoting Decent Working Conditions for Female Domestic Workers in Ethiopia are being conducted; besides, some female domestic workers have shared their experiences and challenges they are facing in their work places. As a side event, there is also an exhibition session, which creates an opportunity for the CSOs to share their experiences and display their works. Accordingly, EWLA is showcasing its works to the stakeholders.

As part of the 16 Days of Activism campaign, Ethiopian Women Lawyers’ Association (EWLA) in partnership with Habitat for Humanity Ethiopia, (S4HL) project launched an impactful Street outreach aimed at raising awareness on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) among the community. The campaign, which included street-level awareness efforts, was designed to engage the public and emphasize the urgency of addressing GBV. participants shared perspectives, rawareness raising activities and brainstorm strategies to effectively combat GBV.

ማኅበሩ ነጻ የሕግ ድጋፍ አገልግሎት ለማግኘት የሚያስችለውን “7711” የተሰኘ ነጻ የስልክ መስመር የማስተዋወቅ የጎዳና ላይ ንቅናቄ ስራውን አጠናክሮ ቀጥሏል፡፡

የኢትዮጵያ የሕግ ባለሙያ ሴቶች ማኅበር ከዩኒሴፍ ጋር አጋርነት በመፍጠር ከህዳር 11-12 ቀን 2017 ዓ.ም በጂንካ ከተማ አሪ ዞን የሚገኙ የህብረተሰብ ክፍሎች “7711” በተሰኘው ነጻ የስልክ መስመር ላይ በመደወል ነጻ የሕግ ድጋፍ አገልግሎት ማግኘት የሚችሉበትን መንገድ ለማስተዋወቅ በሞንታርቦ የታገዘ የድምጽ ማጉያ በመጠቀም እና እስቲከር በመበተን ታላቅ ህዝባዊ ንቅናቄ አካሂዷል፡፡

ይህ ንቅናቄ ማህበረሰቡ በተለይም የህግ ድጋፍ አገልግሎት ለማግኘት የት መሄድ እንዳለባቸው ግንዛቤ የሌላቸው ሴቶች ባሉበት ሆነው ነጻ የስልክ መስመሩን በመጠቀም ለችግራቸው መፍትሄና ነጻ የሕግ ምክር አገልግሎት ማግኘት እንዲችሉ ግንዛቤ የሚፈጥር ነው፡፡

From November 20-21, 2024, Ethiopian Women Lawyers’ Association (EWLA) in partnership with UNICEF conducted a remarkable street Campaign to promote the toll-free number "7711” which helps to get free legal Aid services in Ari zone, Jinka town using megaphone/Montarbo and by distributing stickers among the public.

This campaign has created an opportunity and raised awareness among the community especially the women who don’t know where to go for legal advice.

የኢትዮጵያ የሕግ ባለሙያ ሴቶች ማኅበር ከዩኒሴፍ ጋር በመተባበር ህዳር 11 እና 12 ቀን 2017 ዓ/ም በጂንካ ከተማ አሪ ዞን እንዲሁም በወራቤ ከተማ ስልጤ ዞን ለሚገኙና በዞኑ ሴቶችና ህጻናት፣ ፖሊስ ቢሮዎች እንዲሁም በኢትዮጵያ የሕግ ባለሙያ ሴቶች ማኅበር በጎ ፈቃደኛ ኮሚቴዎች በኩል የህግ ድጋፍ ለሚደረግላቸው ሴቶች “በፍርድ ቤት ራስን ወክሎ መከራከር” በሚል ርእስ የግንዛቤ ማስጨበጫ ስልጠና ሰጥቷል፡፡


ስልጠናው የሕግ ድጋፍና ክትትል እየተደረገላቸው ለሚገኙ ሴቶች በፍርድ ቤት ጠበቃ ሳይኖር ራስን ወክሎ እንዴት መከራከር እንዳለባቸው እና ፍትህ ለማግኘት የሚያስፈልጋቸውን የሕግ እውቀቶች እንዲያገኙ ለማስቻል ያለመ ነበር፡፡ በዚህ ስልጠና ስለ ክስ ማመልከቻ አጻጻፍና በክስ ማመልከቻው መካተት ስላለባቸው የስነስርአት ህግ መርሆች፣ ስለ መጥሪያ አደራረስ፣ ስለ ክስ አቀራረብ፣ የክስ ክርክር አመራርና ስለ ማስረጃ አይነቶችና አቀራረብ፣ ስለ ይርጋ፣ ስለ ቅሬታና ይግባኝ፤ ወራሽነትን መጠየቅና ውል እንዲፈርስ/ውድቅ እንዲሆን ስለመጠየቅ የመሳሰሉ የህግ ጉዳዮችና የፍርድ ቤት የክርክር አካሄዶች ዙሪያ ገለጻና ውይይት ተካሂዷል፡፡ ውይይቱን ተከትሎም ከተሳታፊዎች የተለያዩ ጥያቄዎች ተነስተው ከመድረኩ ምላሽና ማብራሪያ ተሰጥቷል፡፡ ተሳታፊዎችም ከዚህ ስልጠና በፍርድ ቤት ራሳቸውን ወክለው መከራከር የሚያስችል እውቀት እንዳገኙ፣ ስልጠናው በጣም ጠቃሚ እንደሆነና ለሌሎችም አካላት መሰጠት እንዳለበት ሃሳብና አስተያየታቸውን አንጸባርቀዋል፡፡


On November 20 and 21, 2024, Ethiopian Women Lawyers’ Association (EWLA), in partnership with UNICEF, provided Awareness raising training on “Self-court representation” to women receiving legal aid service through Jinka town, Ari and Worabe town, Silte zones bureau of Women and Children; and Police as well as EWLA volunteer committee in Ari zone, Jinka.


The training was aimed at providing women who are receiving legal support and follow up on how to represent themselves in court without a lawyer and to equip them with the legal knowledge they need to get justice. In this training, issues like: writing case application and the principles of procedural law that should be included in the case application, summoning, presentation of case, ways of handling case argument and how they should be argued, the types and presentation of evidence, Period of limitation, complaints and appeals, claim for inheritance and contract to be rejected and other legal issues as well as court debate procedures were presented, explained and discussed. Following the presentation, various questions were raised and responses and explanations were given from the forum, and the participants reflected that they had gained significant knowledge to represent themselves in court.

EWLA Free legal aid service staffs, Volunteers and Regional Coordinators have participated on: “Stress and Burnout Management” training organized by Ethiopian Women Lawyers’ Association in collaboration with Woman Kind Worldwide. (November 2, 2024, Addis Ababa)


The aim of the training was to promote mental tranquility, emotional balance and physical relaxation among the participants since they are the Frontline Legal Aid Service Providers who often operate under high-pressure environments, leading to increased stress levels and potential burnout.


The workshop comprised a series of relaxation and stress-reduction exercises designed to rejuvenate the participants physically, mentally and emotionally. In the session, special attention was given to the health conditions and emotional circumstances of each participant.

የኢትዮጵያ የሕግ ባለሙያ ሴቶች ማኅበር ከቴሬ ደስ ሆምስ ጋር በመተባበር በሚተገብረውና ትመራለች በተሰኘው ፕሮጀክት ስር “የሚኒ-ሚዲያ አስተዳደር፣ የተግባቦት ክህሎት እና የመልዕክት ቀረጻ/አዘገጃጀት” ዙሪያ ስልጠና ሰጠ። (ከጥቅምት 30-ኅዳር 2 ቀን/2017 ዓ/ም፤ ባህር ዳር፤ አማራ ክልል)

ስልጠናው የተካሄደው በባህርዳር ከተማ በጣና ሀይቅ 2ኛ ደረጃ ትምህርት ቤት ሲሆን በባህር ዳር ከተማ ከሚገኙ ሶስት ሁለተኛ ደረጃ ትምህርት ቤቶች እና ሁለት መለስተኛ ት/ቤቶች የተውጣጡ ተወካዮች ተሳትፈዋል። በዚህ ስልጠና በሚኒ-ሚዲያ አስተዳደር፣ በተግባቦት ክህሎት እና በመልዕክት ቀረጻ/አዘገጃጀት ዙሪያ የተለያዩ ቁልፍ ጉዳዮችና የቡድን ስራዎች፣ የተግባር ሥራዎችና ገለጻዎች አሳታፊ በሆነ መልኩ ቀርበዋል። የሚኒ-ሚዲያ አስተዳደር እና የሥነ-ምግባር ጉዳዮች፣ የተግባቦት ሂደትና መሰረታዊ መርሆች፣ ስትራቴጂዎች፣ እንቅፋቶች እና የመልዕክት ቀረጻ ክህሎት የመሳሰሉ ርዕሰ ጉዳዮች ቀርበው ሰፊ ውይይት ተደርጎባቸዋል። ስልጠናው ታዳጊ እና ወጣት ሴቶች (GYW) እንዲሁም ወጣት ተማሪዎች በሚኒ-ሚዲያ አስተዳደር፣ በተግባቦት እና በመልዕክት ቀረጻ ክህሎት ያላቸውን አቅም እንደሚያሳድግ እና ትርጉም ያለው ተሳትፎ እንዲያደርጉ የሚያስችል ክህሎት እንዲያዳብሩ አስተዋጽኦ አበርክቷል።

As part of the She Leads Project, Ethiopian Women Lawyers’ Association (EWLA) in collaboration with Terre des Hommes conducted a training session on "Mini-media management, communication and message development skills" (November 9-11, 2024, Bahir Dar, Amhara Amhara region).

The training was held in Tana Haik Secondary School in Bahir Dar. Representatives from three Secondary schools and two Junior Schools in Bahir Dar have participated in the training which was quite participatory. Presentations on key points, group works, practical lessons demonstrating the mini-media activities and communication practices were conducted in the session. Issues like: the importance, principles, managing mini-media, and ethical issues, basic principles of communication, elements, process, ways, strategies, barriers of communication and message development skills were presented and discussed exhaustively. The training is expected to enhance the capacities and meaningful participation of Girls and Young Women’s (GYW) and school Youths in mini-media management, communications and message development skills.

መድረኩ  ተሳታፊዎች ሃሳባቸውን በነጻነት ያንጸባረቁበትና አሳታፊ  የነበረ ሲሆን የኢትዮጵያ የሕግ ባለሙያ ሴቶች ማኅበርም ለጉዳዩ ከፍተኛ ትኩረት በመስጠት በቀጣይ ከሚመለከታቸው ባለድርሻ አካላት ጋር በትብብርና በቁርጠኝነት በመስራት በማህበረሰባችን ውስጥ የተዛቡ የስርዓተ-ፆታ አስተሳሰቦችና ልማዶች ተለይተው በመታወቅ የሚቀረፉበትን አካሄድ በመቀየርና ውጤታማ የሆነ ምላሽ አሰጣጥ ዘዴ በመቀየስ ተጨባጭ ለውጥ ማምጣት እንደሚቻል በማመን ጠንክሮ እየሰራ ይገኛል።

Ethiopian Women Lawyers' Association (EWLA) in partnership with Bread for the World conducted Community conversation on "GBV prevention and response."

The main objective of the session was to promote and engage with key local actors in order to cultivate a shift in traditional gender norms within Sidama local community.

We had a fruitful discussion with  religious leaders, women representatives, youth association members, community elders as well as  other local actors. EWLA believes that through our continued collaboration and dedication to this issue, we can make a real difference in transforming the way gender norms are perceived and practiced in in the community.

የኢትዮጵያ የህግ ባለሙያ ሴቶች ማህበር በአውሮፓ ህብረት ድጋፍ ከአራት የሀገር በቀል የሲቪል ማህበራት ጋር ጥቅምት 21 ቀን 2017 ዓ.ም ስምምነት የተፈራረመ ሲሆን የሲቪል ማህበራት የኢትዮጵያ ኦርቶዶክስ ተዋሕዶ ቤተ ክርስቲያን - የልማትና ክርስትያናዊ ተራድኦ ኮሚሽን፣ ኢምፕቲ ፍኦር ላይፍ ኢንተግሬትድ ደቨሎፕመት (ኤሊዳ)፣ ቄለም ኢትዮጵያ እና ቤዛ ለሴቶች ማኅበረሰብ አቀፍ ልማት ማኅበር ይገኙበታል። ይህ ትብብር የኤግል ፕሮጀክት አካል ሲሆን አላማውም ከወሲባው እና ጾታ-ተኮር ጥቃት ለደረሰባቸው ሴቶች ተገቢውን ድጋፍ ለማድረግ እና ፍትህ እንዲያገኙ ለማስቻል ነው፡፡

ይህን ስምምነት የፈረሙ ድርጅቶች በተለያዩ ባለድርሻ አካላት መካከል ትብብር እና ንቁ ተሳትፎን ለማሳደግ በጋራ በመስራት አላማ ጾታ-ተኮር ጥቃት ለደረሰባቸው ሴቶች ፍትህ እንዲያገኙ ለማረጋገጥ ነው። ይህ የህግ ድጋፍን፣ የማህበረሰብ ግንዛቤ ዘመቻዎችን ማካሄድ፣ የህግ ባለሙያዎችን ማሰልጠን እና ለተጎጂ ሴቶች የድጋፍ መስጠትን ጨምሮ የተለያዩ ተግባራትን የሚያካትት ነው፡፡

The Ethiopian Women Lawyers’ Association (EWLA), with the support of the European Union (EU), has embarked on a significant initiative by signing a sub-grant agreement with four local civil society organizations (CSOs) on October 31st, 2024. These organizations include the Ethiopian Orthodox Church - Development and Inter-Church Aid Commission (EOC-DICAC), Empathy for Life Integrated Development Association (ELiDA), Kelem Ethiopia, and Beza for Women's Community-based Development Association. This collaboration is part of the broader EAGLE Project, which aims to enhance the legal and social support available to survivors of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV).

Through this initiative, the involved organizations will work together to promote collaboration and active participation among various stakeholders. The primary goal is to ensure that survivors of SGBV have improved access to justice. This will likely involve a range of activities, including legal advocacy, community awareness campaigns, training for legal professionals, and the establishment of support networks for survivors. By leveraging the strengths and resources of each partner organization, the initiative aims to create a more effective and comprehensive response to SGBV in Ethiopia.

የኢትዮጵያ የሕግ ባለሙያ ሴቶች ማኅበር አና የኢ,ፌ.ድ.ሪ  የሴቶችና ማህበራዊ ጉዳይ ሚኒስቴር መጠበቅ አንችልም ከተሰኘው ፕሮጀክት ጋር በመተባበር በኢትዮጵያ የሕግ ማዕቀፎች ውስጥ ከጾታዊ ጥቃት እና ትንኮሳ ጋር የተያያዙ የሕግ ክፍተቶችን በመለየት እና ክፍተቶቹን መሙላት በሚቻልባቸው ሁኔታዎች ዙሪያ ከጥቅምት 20-21 ቀን 2017 ዓ/ም  በቢሾፍቱ ከተማ ከተለያዩ ባለድርሻ አካላት ጋር የምክክር መድረክ አካሄደ


መድረኩ የፆታዊ ጥቃት አድራሾችን መመዝገብ  እና ማሳወቅ የሚያስችል  አዋጅ  ለማርቀቅና ለማጽደቅ የሚረዳ ሰነድ ለማዘጋጀት የሚያስችሉ ግብዓቶችን ለመሰብሰብ ያለመ ነው፡፡ ተሳታፊዎች በዚህ መድረክ ረቂቅ ሰነዱን ለማዘጋጀት የሚረዱ ግብአቶችን ለመሰብሰብ፣  ባለድርሻ አካላት በጉዳዩ ላይ ያላቸውን ግንዛቤ/ልምድ በመለዋወጥ የመፍትሄ ሃሳቦችን እንዲያቀርቡ፣ ለተጎጂዎች የሕግ ጥበቃና ከለላን ለማጠናከር፤  ደህንነቱ የተጠበቀ አካባቢን ለመፍጠር እና በኢትዮጵያ ውስጥ የሚፈጸሙ ጾታዊ ጥቃቶችን እና ጾታዊ ትንኮሳዎችን ለመከላከል የሚያስችሉ  ጉዳዮች ላይ ተወያይተው ሃሳብና አስተያየታቸውን በነጻነት በማንሸራሸር ረቂቅ ሰነዱን ለማዘጋጀት የሚረዱ ጠቃሚ ግብዓቶችን ለመሰብሰብ እድል ፈጥሯል።

From October 30-31, 2024, Ethiopian Women Lawyers' Association (EWLA) and Ministry of women and social affairs partnership with the We Cannot Wait (WCW) project conducted workshop on: Identifying and addressing sexual violence and harassment related legal gaps in Ethiopia's frameworks

The workshop was held in Bishoftu and aims to validate and develop a draft document, facilitating discussions on the proposed proclamation for the registration and notification of perpetrators of sexual violence.The session created   an opportunity to collect inputs that help to develop the draft document and to enable stakeholders share insights, propose solutions, and strengthen legal protections for victims, ultimately fostering a safer environment and to combat sexual violence and sexual harassment in Ethiopia.

ወሲባዊ እና  ፆታን መሰረት ያደረጉ ጥቃቶች ጋር በተያያዘ  ያሉ የሕግ ማእቀፎችና የአሠራር  ስልቶች ዙሪያ ጥቅምት 19 ቀን 2017 ዓ/ም  በአሪ  ዞን ጂንካ ከተማ ለፖሊስ አባላት፣ ለአቃብያነ ሕጎች እና ለሕግ አማካሪዎች የአቅም ግንባታ ስልጠና ተሰጠ።

ስልጠናውን የኢትዮጵያ የሕግ ባለሙያ ሴቶች ማኅበር ከዩኒሴፍ ጋር አጋርነት በመፍጠር ያዘጋጁት ሲሆን የኢ.ሕ.ባ.ሴ.ማ ፕሮግራም ኦፊሰር ማሬ መንግስቱ ተሳታፊዎችን እንኳን ደህና መጣችሁ በማለት ስለ ማኅበሩ ዋና ዋና ፕሮግራሞች እንዲሁም የፕሮጀክቱን ዓላማ እና በስሩ እየተተገበሩ ስለሚገኙ እንቅስቃሴዎች  አብራርተዋል።

በጂንካ ከሚገኙ የዞን ፍትህ ጽ/ቤት፣ፖሊስ ቢሮ እና ፍርድ ቤቶች የተውጣጡ 26 የሚሆኑ ተሳታፊዎች ወሲባዊ እና  ፆታን መሰረት ካደረጉ ጥቃቶች ጋር በተያያዘ  ያሉ የሕግ ማእቀፎችና የአሠራር  ስልቶች ዙሪያ አቅማቸውን ለማጎልበትና ግንዛቤያቸውን ለማሳደግ  ያለመ ስልጠና ተሰጥቷቸዋል። መድረኩ ተሳታፊዎች ከወሲባዊ እና ጾታን መሰረት ያደረጉ ጥቃቶች (SGBV) ጋር ተያይዞ ያሉ  የሪፖርት አቀራረብ ዘዴዎችን፣ የምርመራ እና የክስ ሂደትን ጨምሮ ጥራት ያለው አገልግሎት እና ምላሽ እንዲሰጡ እንደሚያስችላቸው  ተጠቅሷል። ከዚህም በተጨማሪ እንደ አግባብነት ያላቸው  ሕጎች፣ የመረጃ አያያዝን፣ የጥቃት ሰለባዎችን ያማከለ የምርመራ ሂደት  እና ሌሎች  ጉዳዮችን ማስተናገድ  የመሳሰሉ ቁልፍ ጉዳዮች ላይ ገለጻና ውይይት ተደርጓል።

On October 29, 2024 capacity building training on: the existing Legal procedures and mechanisms for the treatment of sexual and Gender-Base Violence, has been provided  to police officers, prosecutors, and legal counselors of GBV  in Ari zone, Jinka town.

In the session, the program officer of EWLA, Mare Mengistu, delivered a welcoming remark and explained about EWLA’s major programs as well as the project objective and activities to the participants.

About 26 participants from zonenal justice office, police bureau and courts in Jinka have attended the training which was aimed at equipping the attendees with knowledge on legal procedures and mechanisms; which enables them to give quality services and response on the cases of sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) including reporting mechanisms, investigation, and prosecution process. The session was organized by EWLA in collaboration with UNICEF and addressed key issues such as relevant laws, managing disclosures, conducting survivor-centered investigations, and dealing with different cases.

የኢትዮጵያ የሕግ ባለሙያ ሴቶች ማኅበር ከዩኒሴፍ ጋር በመተባበር ጥቅምት 18 ቀን 2017 ዓ/ም በጂንካ ከተማ ለሚገኙና በከተማው ሴቶችና ህጻናት ቢሮ በኩል የህግ ድጋፍ ለሚደረግላቸው ሴቶች በፍርድ ቤት ራስን ወክሎ መከራከር በሚል ርእስ የግንዛቤ ማስጨበጫ ስልጠና ሰጥቷል፡፡

ስልጠናው የህግ ድጋፍና ክትትል እየተደረገላቸው ለሚገኙ ሴቶች በፍርድ ቤት ጠበቃ ሳይኖር ራስን ወክሎ እንዴት መከራከር እንዳለባቸው እና ፍትህ ለማግኘት የሚያስፈልጋቸውን የህግ እውቀቶች እንዲያገኙ ለማስቻል ያለመ ነበር፡፡ በዚህ ስልጠና ስለ ክስ ማመልከቻ አጻጻፍና በክስ ማመልከቻው መካተት ስላለባቸው የስነስርአት ህግ መርሆች፣ ስለ መጥሪያ አደራረስ፣ ስለ ክስ አቀራረብ፣ የክስ ክርክር አመራርና ስለ ማስረጃ አይነቶችና አቀራረብ፣ ስለ ይርጋ፣ ስለ ቅሬታና ይግባኝ፤ ወራሽነትን መጠየቅና ውል እንዲፈርስ/ውድቅ እንዲሆን ስለመጠየቅ እና የመሳሰሉ የህግ ጉዳዮችና የፍርድ ቤት የክርክር አካሄዶች ዙሪያ ገለጻና ውይይት ተካሂዷል፡፡ ውይይቱን ተከትሎም ከተሳታፊዎች የተለያዩ ጥያቄዎች ተነስተው ከመድረኩ ምላሽና ማብራሪያ ተሰጥቷል፡፡ ተሳታፊዎችም ከዚህ ስልጠና በፍርድ ቤት ራሳቸውን ወክለው መከራከር የሚያስችል እውቀት እንዳገኙ እና ስልጠናው በጣም ጠቃሚና ለሌሎችም አካላት መሰጠት እንዳለበት ሃሳብና አስተያየታቸውን አንጸባርቀዋል፡፡

On October 28, 2024, Ethiopian Women Lawyers’ Association (EWLA), in partnership with UNICEF, provided awareness raising training on Self-court representation to women receiving legal assistance through Jinka town Women and Children's Office.

The training was aimed at providing women who are receiving legal support and follow up on how to represent themselves in court without a lawyer and to equip them with the legal knowledge they need to get justice. In this training, issues like: writing case application and the principles of procedural law that should be included in the case application, summoning, presentation of case, ways of handling case argument and how they should be argued, the types and presentation of evidence, Period of limitation, complaints and appeals, claim for inheritance and contract to be rejected and other legal issues as well as court debate procedures were presented, explained and discussed. Following the presentation, various questions were raised and responses and explanations were given from the forum, and the participants reflected that they had gained the knowledge to represent themselves in court.

ባሳለፍነው ሳምንት የኢትዮጵያ የሕግ ባለሙያ ሴቶች ማኅበር በሀቢታት ፎር ሂውማኒቲ ኢትዮጵያ ስር ከሚተገብረውና ስታንድ ፎር ኸር ላንድ (S4HL) ከተሰኘው ፕሮጀክት ጋር በመተባበር  በቢሾፍቱ፤ በአዳማና በፍቼ  ከተሞች  ከሚገኙ የራስ አገዝ ቡድን አባላት (SHGs)  ጋር በሴቶች የመሬት ተጠቃሚነት መብት ዙሪያ ያሉ መረጃዎችን  ካስኬድ በማድረግና የቡና ጠጡ ፕሮግራሞችን በማዘጋጀት ውይይት አካሂዷል።  በ3ቱም ከተሞች የተካሄደው መድረክ በአጠቃላይ በሴቶች መሰረታዊ መብቶች እና በተለይ ደግሞ በሴቶች የመሬት ተጠቃሚነት መብቶች ላይ  የራስ አገዝ ቡድኖችን ግንዛቤ ለማሳደግና ለማጠናከር ያለመ ነበር። 

ይህ በእንዲህ እንዳለ በቤኒሻንጉል ጉሙዝ ክልል አሶሳ ከተማ ጥቅምት 14 ቀን 2017 ዓ/ም ከመሬት ባለቤትነትና ተጠቃሚነት መብት ጋር  በተያያዙ  ህጎችና ሴቶችን በማብቃት ላይ የግንዛቤ ማስጨበጫ ስልጠና ሰጥቷል። የስልጠናው ዋና ዓላማም ሴቶች ከመሬት ተጠቃሚነት መብታቸው ጋር በተያያዘ ያላቸውን የህግ እውቀትና ግንዛቤ ለማሳደግ ነው።

ተሳታፊዎች ከነዚህ ስልጠናዎች ከመሬት ተጠቃሚነት መብት ጋር የተያያዙ ህጎችን እንዲረዱ፤ የመሬት ባለቤትነት እና ተጠቃሚነት መብታቸውን በመጠየቅ ዙሪያ  በራስ መተማመን እንዲያዳብሩ እንዲሁም  በመረጃ ላይ የተመሰረተ ውሳኔ እንዲሰጡ የሚያስችል ግንዛቤ አግኝተዋል።


As part of the Stand For Her Land (S4HL) project, Ethiopian Women Lawyers’ Association (EWLA) in partnership with Habitat for Humanity Ethiopia, had conducted coffee ceremonies to cascade Women Land rights related information for members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in Bishftu, Adama and fitch zones. The plat form was aimed to strengthen the grassroots women on women basic rights in general and women land rights in particular. 

In the meantime, on October 24, 2024, Awareness-raising training on women empowerment and legal literacy on land rights was conducted in Benishangul Gumuz region, Assosa. The aim of this training was to raise women's awareness of legal literacy on their Land rights.

The trainings enhanced participants' understanding of land rights legislation, improved their confidence in claiming their rights, and equipped them with informed decisions regarding land ownership and usage.

Ethiopian Women Lawyers’ Association (EWLA) had participated in the 14th Pan African Lawyers Union #PALU2024 Conference started in October 14, 2024 in Addis Ababa, African Union Headquarters. 

During the conference, participants discussed the ongoing improvements in Ethiopia’s justice system as a result of recent reforms, the unlawful trials of African individuals under suppressive regimes and strengthening attorneys across Africa through collective efforts among bar associations, etc.

As a side event, Institute for African Women In Law (IAWL) in collaboration with Equality Now & Pan African Lawyers’ Union (PALU) had organized a round Table discussion on: Promoting Gender Equality In The Legal Profession Across Africa; the discussion session was held on October 18, 2024 in Skylight Hotel, Addis Ababa, In this round table discussion, the executive directress of EWLA, Lensa Biyena, had facilitated a session on: The role of individuals and bar associations.

ማንኛውም ባህላዊም ሆነ ሀይማኖታዊ ስርዓት ተቀባይነት የሚኖረው የሰዎችን ሰብዓዊ መብት እንዲሁም በህግ የተደነገጉ መብቶቻቸውን እስካልጣሰ ድረስ ነው፡፡ ሰሞኑን በኦሮሚያ ክልል በምስራቅ ቦረና ዋጪሌ ወረዳ “የሽማግሌዎችን ትእዛዝ አላከበርሽም” በማለት ተጠቂን ከዛፍ ላይ በማሰር በባለቤቷ በአሰቃቂ ሁኔታ የግርፋት እና ድብደባ ወንጀል ተፈፅሞባት በሀዋሳ ሪፈራል ሆስፒታል በከፍተኛ ክትትል ላይ ለምትገኘው ኩሹ ቦናያ ፍትህ እንሻለን፡፡

ባህላዊ የሽምግልና ስርዓት ሰውን ከሰው የሚያቀራርብ፣ የሰውን ስነ ምግባር በመልካም የሚገራ፣ ማህበረሰብን ከማህበረሰብ የሚያስተሳስር እንዲሁም ክቡር የሆነውን የሰውን ህይወት፣ ሰብዓዊ መብትና የደህንነት ጥያቄ ሊያከብር የሚገባ እንጂ ወደበለጠ ጉዳት ሊያደርስ የሚችል መሆን የለበትም፡፡ ባህላዊ የሽምግልናና የዳኝነት ስርዓት በሁለቱም ፆታዎች መካከል ፆታን መሰረት አድርጎ መድሎ እና መገለል ሳይደረግ እኩል የዳኝነት ሥራ ሊያከናውን የሚገባ እንጂ ሴቶችን ለጥቃት የሚዳርግና ህይወታቸውን ለአደጋ የሚያጋልጥ እንዲሁም ኢ-ፍትሃዊነት የሰፈነበት የዳኝነት ስርዓት ተቀባይነት ሊኖረው አይገባም፡፡

በመሆኑም በኩሾ ቦያና ላይ የተፈፀመባት የወንጀል ድርጊት በህገ መንግስታችን ከአንቀፅ 14 እስከ 17 ድረስ ያለውን የተጠቂዋን የአካል ደህንነት መብት የጣሰ፣ የነፃነት መብቷን የነፈገ እንዲሁም በህገ መንግስቱ አንቀፅ 17 መሰረት ማንኛውም ሰው ጭካኔ ከተሞላበት፣ ኢሰብዓዊ ከሆነ ወይም ክብሩን ከሚያዋርድ አያያዝ ወይም ቅጣት የመጠበቅ መብት አለው፡፡

በመሆኑም የኢትዮጵያ የሕግ ባለሙያ ሴቶች ማኅበር በኩሹ ቦናያ ላይ እንደዚህ አይነት አስከፊና ህይወቷን አደጋ ላይ የጣለ ወንጀል የፈፀመባት ባለቤቷ እና በወንጀሉ የተሳተፉት ሰዎች በሙሉ ለፍርድ እንዲቀርቡ እና ኩሹ ቦናያም ለተፈፀመባት ወንጀል አፋጣኝ ፍትህ እንድታገኝ ይጠይቃል፡፡

ወንጀል ሲፈፀም ቆሞ ማየትና ለሚመለከተው አካል ጥቆማ አለመስጠት ከወንጀል ተጠያቂነት አያድንም፡፡ በመሆኑም በዚህ ሁኔታ ማስረጃው የተገኘባቸው ግለሰቦች አስተማሪ ቅጣት እንዲሰጣቸው እንጠይቃለን፡፡ በተጨማሪም በባህላዊ ተፅእኖም ሆነ በማንኛውም ሁኔታ በሴቶች ላይ እንዲህ አይነት ወንጀል ሲፈፀም አይቶ እንዳላዩ መሆን በወንጀል ሊያስቀጣ የሚችል በመሆኑ ሁሉም የህብረተሰብ ክፍል በሴቶች ላይ ጥቃት ሲፈፀም አይቶ ዝም ከማለት ይልቅ ለሚመለከተው አካል ጥቆማ እንዲያደርግ ጥሪ እያቀረብን የኩሹን ጉዳይ በኦሮሚያ ክልል ቅርንጫፋችን በኩል የምንከታተለውና አስፈላጊውን ነጻ የህግ ድጋፍ የምናደርግ መሆኑን እናሳውቃለን፡፡
