🦋Factors affecting respiration

➤The process of respiration is influenced by a number of external and internal factors.

✍️The main external factors are temperature, light, oxygen supply, water supply, CO2​ concentration, toxic and stimulating substances and disease and injury.

✍️The internal factors include the amount of respirable material and respiratory enzymes, acidity of the cell sap and activity of the organism

🦋Smoking causes cancer, heart disease, stroke, lung diseases, diabetes, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), which includes emphysema and chronic bronchitis.
Smoking also increases risk for tuberculosis, certain eye diseases, and problems of the immune system, including rheumatoid arthritis.

💠The common properties of acids are:

💠 Classification of acids

🔻Acids can be classified as strong acids and weak acids.
➤Strong acids, such as:
HCl - Hydrochloric acid
HBr - Hydrobromic acid
HI - Hydroiodic acid
HNO₃ - Nitric acid
H₂SO₄- Sulfuric acid
HClO₄ - Perchloric acid
HCIO₃ - Chloric acid
ionize almost completely in aqueous solution.
➤Weak acids, on the other hand, do not ionize completely.

🔻Acids can also be classified based on the number of their constituent elements.

➤ Binary acids are composed of only two elements, such as HCl, HBr, HF, HI, and H S.
➤ Oxy-acids are composed of three different elements - hydrogen, oxygen, and a non-metal.

🔻Examples of oxy-acids include H SO , H CO , and H PO .

🔻Weak acid is an acid that ionizes or dissociates only partially in water solution.
That means its water solution contains greater number of molecular acid than the ions of the acid.

🔻Strong acid is an acid that ionizes or dissociates nearly completely in water solution.
Therefore it contains greater number of ions of the acid than the molecular acid.

👉The acid solution that contains greater number of water than the acid is said to be dilute acid.
👉The acid solution that contains greater amount of acid than water is said to be concentrated acid.

💠 Fluid Mechanics

Fluid mechanics: is an important branch of physics that deals with the study of fluids (both liquids and gases) and their behavior in various situations.
👉 here are some key concepts in Fluid Mechanics:

🔻 Pascal's Law: This law states that a change in pressure applied to an enclosed fluid is transmitted equally in all directions.
👉It helps explain how hydraulic systems work, where a small force can be amplified to produce a larger force.

🔻 Archimedes' Principle: This principle states that an object immersed in a fluid experiences an upward buoyant force equal to the weight of the displaced fluid.
👉It helps determine whether an object will sink or float in a fluid.

🔻 Bernoulli's Principle: According to this principle, as the speed of a fluid increases, its pressure decreases.
👉This principle is used to explain the lift generated by airplane wings and the flow of blood in arteries.

🔻 Viscosity: is a measure of a fluid's resistance to flow.
👉It depends on the internal friction between fluid layers.
👉High viscosity fluids have a thick consistency (e.g., honey), while low viscosity fluids flow easily (e.g., water).

🔻Reynolds Number: is a dimensionless quantity used to predict the flow pattern of a fluid (laminar, turbulent, or transitional).
👉It is calculated based on the fluid's velocity, density, viscosity, and a characteristic length scale.

🔻 Fluid Pressure:
Pressure is the force applied per unit area.
In fluid mechanics, pressure is calculated using the relationship
P = F/A, where P is pressure,
F is force, and A is the area over which the force is distributed.

🔻 Fluid Flow: refers to the motion of fluids.
👉It can be described as steady or unsteady, laminar or turbulent, and viscous or non-viscous.
👉Understanding the different types of flow is crucial in various engineering applications.
