የህክምና ደህንነት ጉዳዮች ቡድን፣ ከአዲስ አበባ እሳት አደጋ እና አደጋ አያያዝ ቢሮ ጋር በመተባበር ለአለርት ሆስፒታል 60 ሠራተኞች የእሳት አደጋ ደህንነት ስልጠና ሰጡ።

ስልጠናው የእሳት አደጋ ዓይነቶች፣ እሳት ማጥፊያዎችን መጠቀም እንዲሁም በአደጋዎች ጊዜ በፍጥነት እና በተገቢው መንገድ መስራት የሚችሉ ለመሆን አስፈላጊ የሆኑ መሰረታዊ ነገሮችን አካቷል። ተሳታፊዎች በንድፈ-ሀሳብ እና በተግባራዊ ልምምዶች ተሳትፈዋል፣ በስልጠናው መጨረሻም አለርት ኮምፕርሄንሲቭ ስፔሻላይዝድ ሆስፒታል የደህንነት እና አደጋ አያያዝ ኮሚቴ ተመሠርቷል።

Fire Safety Training at ALERT Comprehensive Specialized Hospital

Over the past three days, ALERT Comprehensive Specialized Hospital Patient Safety Case Team, in collaboration with the Addis Ababa Fire and Disaster Management Office, trained 60 staff members on fire safety.

The training covered fire types, extinguisher use, and emergency response, ensuring staff can act swiftly and effectively in fire emergencies. Participants engaged in theoretical lessons and hands-on exercises, culminating in the formation of the ALERT CSH Security Risk Reduction Committee.

በተካሄደው የካንሰር ግንዛቤ ማስጨበጫና መከላከያ ዝግጅት ላይ፣ የጤና ሚኒስቴር የበሽታ መከላከያና መቆጣጠር፣ የተለያዩ የመንግስትና የግል ሆስፒታሎች እና ክሊኒኮች ተወካዮች እንዲሁም አጋር ድርጅቶች ተሳትፈዋል።

“የካንሰር ህክምናን ቢቻል መከላከል፣ ካልተቻለ አክሞ ማዳን ይቻላል” በሚል መሪ-ሃሳብ፣ የተለያዩ የህክምና ባለሙያዎች የተዘጋጀውን የክህሎት ስልጠና ስፋት ያለው ዝማሬ ሰጥተዋል።

በተጨማሪም፣ የጤና ሚኒስቴር የህክምና ምርምራን በማስፋት ከሆስፒታሎችና ከምርምር ተቋማት ጋር በስፋት እየተሰራበት እንደሆነ ተገልጿል።

ALERT Comprehensive Specialized Hospital and Armauer Hansen Research Institute together with Ministry of health commemorated World Cancer Day under the global theme “I Am and I Will: Together, We Can Fight Cancer!” through various educational events and awareness activities.

The Cancer Awareness and Prevention Event brought together representatives from the Ministry of Health, public and private hospitals, clinics, and partner organizations.

Under the theme “If Possible, Prevent Cancer; If Not, Early Detection Saves Lives”, medical professionals delivered in-depth educational sessions on cancer prevention, early diagnosis, and treatment.

Additionally, the Ministry of Health emphasized its commitment to expanding medical research and collaborating with hospitals and research institutions to improve cancer care and treatment across the country.

የDay Care ቀዶ ህክምና በአለርት ኮምፕርሄንሲቭ ስፔሻላይዝድ ሆስፒታል
የDay Care ቀዶ ህክምና የሚባለው አንድ ታካሚ ሆስፒታል ከገባበት ጊዜ አንስቶ የ ቀዶ ህክምናውን ጨርሶ የሚወጣው በተመሳሳይ ቀን ውስጥ ሲሆን እና ቀዶ ህክምናው አስቀድሞ ለDay Care surgery የታቀደ ሲሆን ነው፡፡
በአለርት ኮምፕርሄንሲቭ ስፔሻላይዝድ ሆስፒታል ከአንድ አመት ተኩል ጀምሮ ሲሰራ ቆይቷል፡፡ በዚህም ቀዶ ህክምና ተራቸውን ሲጠብቁ ከነበሩት /Waiting List/ 330 በላይ ታካሚዎች በአጭር ጊዜ ቀዶ ህክምናውን በመስጠት ተራ የሚጠብቁትን ታካሚዎች ቁጥር ለመቀነስ እገዛ አድርጓል፡፡

ከዚህ በተጨማሪ ሁለት እና ሶስት ቀን አልጋ ይዘው ያድሩ የነበሩት ታካሚዎች ቀዶ ህክምናውን በተሰሩበት ቀን ወደቤታቸው ስለሚመለሱ ከአላስፈላጊ ወጪና እንግልት እንዲሁም በሆስፒታል ቆይታ ከሚመጡ ህመሞች /Hospital acquired infectons/ይታደጋሉ፡፡
የሆስፒታሉም አልጋ ለሌሎች ይውላል፡፡

በሆስፒታሉ ሲካሄድ የቆየው ይህ የ Day Care ህክምናወደ ስራ ከመግባቱ በፊት የመመሪያ ማንዋል የተዘጋጀለት ሲሆን እንደሆስፒታሉ አቅም በቂ ዝግጅት ተደርጎበት የተጀመረ ነው፡፡ህክምናውም ለዚህ ህክምና ስርዓት አመቺ በሆኑ እና በ24 ሰዓት ውስጥ ወደቤታቸው መላክ የሚችሉ ወደ 7 ያክል እክሎች /Cases/ ተመርጠው ሲሰሩ ቆይተዋል፡፡
ታካሚዎችንም ከቀዶ ህክምና በኋላ ሊያጋጥም ከሚችሉ ውስብስብ ችግሮች ለመታደግ በስልክ ጥሪ ያሉበት ሁኔታ ክትትል ይደረግላቸዋል፡፡
ይህ የ Day Care ቀዶ ህክምና የታካሚ ፍሰቱ ከፍተኛ በሆነበት አለርት ኮ/ስ ሆስፒታል ትልቅ ፋይዳም እንዳለው የጠቅላላ ቀዶ ህክምና ክፍል ሃላፊ ዶክተር በለጠ ሽኩር ገልፀዋል፡፡

Ethiopia Strengthens Leprosy Case-Finding Efforts

Ethiopia has made remarkable progress in the fight against leprosy, eliminating it as a public health problem in 1999. However, around 3,000 new cases are still reported annually, with 10% resulting in severe disabilities due to late diagnosis.

ALERT Comprehensive Specialized Hospital, recognized by WHO and the Ministry of Health, Ethiopia, is at the forefront of this fight. In 2023, the hospital successfully treated 30% of all new leprosy cases. With WHO’s support, ALERT provides free multidrug therapy and preventive chemotherapy, ensuring patients receive lifesaving treatment.

Dr. Shimeles Niguse, a consultant dermatologist with over 15 years of experience at ALERT, emphasized the hospital’s vital contributions, including its outreach programs to five referral centers across the country. Together with the Ministry of Health, WHO, and partners like ENAPAL, ALERT Hospital continues to combat stigma and raise community awareness, achieving a 7% reduction in new cases and a 25% decrease in severe disabilities between 2022 and 2023.

As a WHO- and Ministry of Health-recognized center of excellence, ALERT remains committed to early diagnosis, treatment, and the elimination of leprosy by 2030.

Under the coordination of the Ministry of Health, the hospital toured the implemented Kaizen experience for experts from Japan International Kaizen (JIK), the Quality Improvement Technical support Group (QIT) from Yekatit 12 and saint Peter Hospital.
Alert Comprehensive Specialized Hospital is one of the hospital that has implemented Kaizen and made its environment more convenient for the user community, and the visit is intended to exchange experiences so that the good experience can be expanded to other hospitals.

World Children’s Day Celebrated at ALERT Comprehensive Specialized Hospital and Armauer Hansen Research Institute.
Under the theme "Listen to the future. Stand up for children’s rights" the 35th annual global and 19th national celebration of World Children’s Day was marked yesterday at the Children’s Shelter Center shared by ALERT Comprehensive Specialized Hospital and Armauer Hansen Research Institute.
Executives from the Women, Youth, and Social Affairs sectors of both institutions attended the event. Messages were delivered to mothers and child caregivers emphasizing the importance of health education and taking preventative measures to protect children from various infectious diseases. The importance of focusing on children’s health and well-being was also highlighted as a key priority.

The International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women Observed at ALERT Comprehensive Specialized Hospital

Under the theme “Her Fight is My Fight: I Will Not Stay Silent,” the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women was commemorated at ALERT Comprehensive Specialized Hospital. This year’s event was held in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Armauer Hansen Research Institute as part of the 33rd global and the 19th national observance of the day.

The program featured participation from state Minister of Health, W/ro Frehiwot Abebe, and W/ro Fatuma Said, the Executive Director of Women, Youth, and Social Affairs at the Ministry of Health, who delivered messages emphasizing the importance of the day.

The activities included recognition for committee members of the Youth Forum, awarding certificates to retiring staff members, and a report highlighting the significance of the day. Key messages, such as “I will not stay silent; I will not commit violence or allow it to happen,” were shared to raise awareness and inspire action against gender-based violence.

Alert Comprehensive Specialized Hospital is working by setting up a committee that includes senior experts to become a center of excellence in dermatology, plastic & reconstructive surgery, ophthalmology, emergency and intensive care, orthopedics, neurosurgery/spine medicine.
The committee visited the big infrastructures under construction and thanked the Ministry of Health and gave a professional opinion.
The Committee planned to work with ministry of health and other stakeholders on identifying focus area, plans on manpower and equipments needed for centers.

ለዚህም ሁሉም ተቋማት ለአካል ጉዳተኞች ምቹ እንዲሆኑ ተደርገው መሰራታቸውን ማረጋገጥ፣ የተሻለ እይታ እንዲያገኙ የተለያዩ ድጋፍ ሰጭ መሳሪያዎችን ማቅረብ እንደሚያስፈልግ ተገልጿል፡፡
ALERT Comprehensive Specialized Hospital, in collaboration with CBM, provided training for members of the National Association of the Blind.

The training focused on understanding the extent and causes of vision problems, how and when to seek preventive measures, and ways to adapt and improve after experiencing blindness.

It was also emphasized that all institutions should ensure accessibility for individuals with disabilities and that providing various supportive tools is necessary to help them achieve better vision

በአለርት ኮምፕርሄንሲቭ ስፔሻላይዝድ ሆስፒታል በቤተሰብ ህክምና እና የማህበረሰብ ጤና የስራ ክፍል የተመራ የህክምና ቡድን ጥቅምት 27/2017 ዓ.ም በረጲ የደረቅ ቆሻሻ ሀይል ማመንጫ ድርጅት ለሚሰሩ ሰራተኞች ቦታው ድረስ በመሄድ የሳንባ ካንሰር ቅድመ ምርመራና የምክር አገልግሎት አድርጓል፡፡
በዚህም የድርጅቱ ሰራተኞች ስለተደረገላቸው መልካም ስራ ሆስፒታሉን አመስግነዋል፡፡
                                                   On November 6/2024, a medical team led by the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at Alert Comprehensive Specialized Hospital went to the site for lung cancer screening and counseling for the workers working at the Solid Waste Power Generation Company.

ለሆስፒታሉ የሥራ ክፍል ኋላፊዎች፤ የዲሲፕሊንና የቅሬታ ሰሚ ኮሚቴዎች የፌደራል መንግስት ሠራተኞች አዋጅ ቁ 1064/2010ና ደንብ ቁ 77/1994 ላይ የግንዛቤ ማስጨበጫ ስልጠና ተሰጠ። ስልጠናው በሆስፒታሉ የህግ ዳይሬክቶሬት አቶ ፍቅረማርያም ስዩም የተሰጠ ሲሆን ከህግ አተገባበር አንፃር ሊከሰቱ የሚችሉ ችግሮችን ቅድመ መከላከል ላይ በመስራት የህግ የበላይነትን በማስከበር የተገልጋዮችን እርካታ በመጨመር ህጎችን ማስታወስ አስፈላጊ እንደሆነም በስልጠናው የተነሱ ነጥቦች ናቸው።
A capacity-building training was provided to the hospital’s department heads, disciplinary, and grievance committees on Federal Employees Proclamation No. 1064/2010 and Regulation No. 77/1994.
Led by Mr. Fikremariam Seyoum, Director of the Legal Directorate, the training focused on preventing potential legal issues, upholding the rule of law, and enhancing service user welfare. It emphasized the importance of legal awareness and compliance.

High-level experts from the Ministry of Health, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and the Ethiopian Kaizen Center of Excellence visited the hospital to observe the ongoing implementation of Kaizen.
