Announcement to ERMP 2024 Examinees

We would like first to congratulate all candidates who took the ERMP 2024 MCQ exam which was conducted nationally on December 31, 2024 in 15 hubs. Of the 1985 eligible candidates, 1811 were able to sit for the exam, and 1 candidate was disqualified.

The ERMP team collected the results of all 1810 examinees from all 15 exam hubs and compiled them together. Thus, you can check your exam results across your user ID. If you have any complaint about your result, you can call the Ministry’s Hot Line (952) from January 10-16, 2024 during working hours notifying your name, User ID, result, and exam hub.

Please be informed that the exam results posted here do not include the affirmative points: the 5% affirmative for female candidates and 5% for managers, which will automatically be added by the matching software during matching.

You can revise your choice of specialty and/or university from January 10 to 16, 2024, since the application system will remain open and active for these domains on the stated dates.

The following programs are added to this year’s ERMP:
▫️ Jigjiga University (Anesthesiology CCPM and Emergency & CCM),
▫️ Wollo University (Orthopedics), and
▫️ Mekelle University (Dermatovenerology)

So those of you, who are interested, can consider them while revising your choice of university and/or specialty.

Good evening, everyone!

#For those who are undecided about whether to specialize now or wait:

We hope you all have seen and formed your own opinions on the issue above. It is disheartening to witness the current situation. The MOH sponsorship has been the most fair and favorable means of obtaining the opportunity for specialization over the past 4 or 5 years.

Our recommendation:
Predicting what the future holds is challenging, and we can only speculate about what may come next year. If sponsorship returns to regional hospitals as it was in the past, the fairness and flexibility of the MOH sponsorship may not be realized.

👉 We highly recommend taking your chances, registering, and sitting the exam. The road ahead may look uncertain whether you specialize or not, but none of us can accurately predict what the future holds. It's better to upgrade your skills than to remain stagnant.

Our take: Most of the instructions seem fair, clear and applicable when compared with previous years' preparation guidelines. BUT the requirement to pass the NGAT (>35/70) seems very steep. And we recommend to focus your study on that part too.

Exam Overview

● Format:
The entrance exam has multiple-choice questions (MCQs) covering all medical disciplines, including ethics and professionalism.

● Exam Schedule:
Two exams are held on one day:
- Morning: ERMP MCQ exam with 130 questions.
- Afternoon: NGAT exam.

● Time Allocation: 1.5 minutes/question.

● Scoring:
- Candidates receive scores out of 130 for the ERMP MCQ exam and NGAT exam scores at the end of each session.
- ERMP MCQ: Accounts for 100% of the final matching score.

Instructions for the ERMP 2024 registration
(November 12–26, 2024)

1. Applicants must create a new ERMP 2024 account, even if they had previous accounts.

2. Complete personal details, ensuring name spellings match official documents.

3. Applicants with at least two years as a GP are eligible.

4. Select a sponsor from the list;
• those ineligible for MOH sponsorship must find other sponsors.

5. Choose up to two specialties and three university preferences

6. Upload required documents (degree, license, work experience, etc.) in specified formats.

7. Confirm eligibility before paying the fee (600 Birr for locals), ensuring payment is recorded in the applicant's name.

8. Ensure all documents are correct, choose an exam hub, and submit before the deadline. Early submission is recommended to secure the preferred hub.

9. Multiple registrations will lead to disqualification.

Hello everyone,

We have received numerous inquiries from you about whether to take the upcoming GAT exam.

As of now, there has been no official announcement. However, in the past, the GAT exam was initially required as a prerequisite at the last minute. Eventually, this requirement was retracted due to the negative feedback received.

Therefore, unless there are new developments, there is no reason why they won't ask for GAT results as a prerequisite for residency matching this time around.

While we cannot advise whether to take or not take the upcoming GAT exam, we are committed to reaching out to the relevant officials for updated information. In the meantime, as a precaution, we urge you to familiarize yourself with GAT questions available on the app.
