Addis Ababa, November 18, 2024 – The Entrepreneurship Development Institute, in partnership with the Ministry of Labor and Skills, officially launched the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) under the theme “Entrepreneurship is for every one.”
Hon. Muferihat Kamil, Minister of Labor and Skills, underscored the pivotal role of entrepreneurship in utilizing untapped resources and fostering a knowledge-based economy. She reaffirmed the ministry’s dedication to cultivating a conducive environment for entrepreneurs and promoting inclusive development. Key initiatives, including district-level innovation competitions and the “Semer Camp” program, have supported over 3,000 entrepreneurs in showcasing their innovations and preparing for market entry.
The guest of honor, Dr. Belete Molla, Minister of Innovation and Technology, highlighted the significance of technology-driven entrepreneurship for sustainable economic growth and called for the establishment of supportive policies to further enable this sector.
Dr. Hussen Hassen, Director General of the Entrepreneurship Development Institute, noted that ongoing efforts have begun to show promising results, including the empowerment of technical and vocational institutions to generate independent revenue.
The GEW Ethiopia is set to be celebrated from November 18-27, 2024, with exhibitions, panel discussions, and various events aimed at advancing entrepreneurship nationwide.
