Wallahi, as a revert and a foreigner living here, I did not expect this much response and love.

But Allah continues to show me the blessing of Islam, and that this religion is truly unique and beautiful. Allah tells us in Quran that it is our faith that unites us: making complete strangers true brothers and sisters. When you meet a muslim, and exchange the islamic greeting, you feel safe and a sense of genuine care and concern. This cannot be found anywhere else on this earth. Alhamdulillah.

Also, Islam teaches us patience, showing that daily challenges are opportunities to build character and draw closer to our Creator. Without Islam, many would undoubtedly struggle to face adversity and turn to vices to escape their sorrows.

That I walk with a brother regarding a need is more beloved to me than that I seclude myself in this mosque in Medina for a month..." (Al-Mujam al-Awsat, authenticated by Albaani رحمه الله in as-Silsilah as-Sahihah: 906).

Humility.

Shaykhna Abdullah an-Najmi حفظه الله said that he found Sh. Ahmad an-Najmi's رحمه الله handwriting at the end of his personal copy "al-Muwatta" stating,

"We praise Allah for making us among those who are minors in knowledge."

Sh. Abdullah said, "This is what Sh. Ahmad said about himself, while he is an Allaamah (a true proficient scholar), then how would he react if he saw the small students of knowledge in today's age?"

I (Abu Awzaa’ee) state: One of the many benefits of learning directly from scholars, attending their lectures, and having a personal relationship with them is safeguarding oneself against self-amazement.

Often times, it is those who have not spent significant time studying directly with scholars who fall into the trap of believing they have attained a level of knowledge, when in reality, they haven't even scratched the surface.

Some acquire a small amount of knowledge and, in comparing themselves to the general folk, mistakenly believe they have become scholars. They then give themselves titles and make themselves authorities in the Deen. This is from the devil's deception.

The true student must consistently remain connected with the people of knowledge and always maintain humility. This is one of the principles upheld by the Salaf Salih.

A wonderful day of knowledge in Jeddah with our Shaykh Badr b. Muhammad al-Anzy حفظه الله, who traveled all the way from Hafir Batin.

Today, he taught us 40 Hadith on Fiqh rulings, as compiled by al-Mundhiry رحمه الله.

Today, Shaykh Salih Al Shaykh and others will be in Makkah for this discussion إن شاء الله.

Alhamdulillah, our Shaykh Abdur-Razzaq al-Badr حفظه الله is currently in Makkah for a symposium dedicated to the life and legacy of Shaykh Abdullah b. Humayd رحمه الله.

It was announced around midnight that Sh. Abdur-Razzaq would hold a class after Fajr, explaining a Tawhid text authored by Ibn Humayd رحمه الله.

I first learned about the true status of Sh. Abdullah Humayd through Sh. Abdur-Razzaq. During one visit, Sh. al-Badr kindly gifted me Ibn Humayd's explanation of Kitab Tawhid. That's when I started to research the author further and obtained a glimpse of his true scholarship.

I also had the honor to study under ibn Humayd's sons: Fiqh of Salah from al-Rawdh al-Murbi' with Dr. Muhammad, Sh. Ahmad in the uni., and multiple books in the Haram with his older son, Imam of the Haram, Shaykh Salih.

It was recently announced that a 23 vol. compilation of Sh. Abdullah Humayd is being published, alhamdulillah.

Here are some key takeaways from this morning's class with Sh. Abdur-Razzaq al-Badr حفظه الله:

1. The Shaykh is known for his worship and gives it priority. After the Sunnah of the Adhan, I waited a bit before asking him a few questions. The Shaykh humbly gestured to his right hand pointing to his Dhikr. After a few minutes, he gladly embraced me and allowed me to ask questions.

Dhikr is the lifeline for the true believer.

2. A common characteristic of Ahl Sunnah and their works is the referencing of evidence for their speech.

3. One prevalent method Allah uses in the Quran to refute false ideologies is the demand for evidence from those who promote them. All polytheists and disbelievers lack a Divine source for their misguided practices. (Regrettably, when someone from Ahl Sunnah uses this as evidence today, it is often dismissed and mocked by the people of desires.)

4. It is essential to follow the Salaf in all matters: Aqidah, Actions, Dealings, and Manners.

5. The categories of Tawhid are derived from studying the Texts. Similarly, the categories of Speech—Nouns, Verbs, and Particles—are not explicitly mentioned in the Quran and Sunnah, yet their acceptance arises from scholarly extraction.

6. We are created first to know (as stated at the end of Surah Talaq) and then to worship (as stated at the end of Surah Dhariyat). Knowledge precedes worship.

This is what is being taught at Azhar University in Egypt and their affiliates.

One reviewer for a master's or PhD defense asserts that Sh. Ibn Uthaymin رحمه الله considers Azhar students and scholars to be outside the fold of Islam, and that citing him is inappropriate in academic work, except for the purpose of debating his points. You can see his colleague strongly endorsing his statement.

Subhanallah, the level of animosity these individuals hold against Ahl al-Sunnah and the extent of their lies are concerning.

Be cautious and reconsider your aspirations to study in such environments. I've seen many enter with pure intentions, only to be swayed by the ideologies of the Ikhwan, Asha'irah, and a spirit of arrogance and hostility toward Ahl al-Sunnah.

Do not be impressed by their skill in reciting the Quran; the Khawaarij were also proficient, but were described by the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم as the "dogs of the Hellfire."

Shaykh Ibrahim al-Muhaymid حفظه الله said there are three affairs that must be present in Dawah:

One of the more emotional moments from this recent 7-day conference was a touching story shared by Sh. Abdullah an-Najmi حفظه الله about Sh. Ahmad an-Najmi رحمه الله and his deep love and care for the Muslims, especially for the Students of Knowledge.

On one occasion, a Yemeni student came to study under the Shaykh but fell seriously ill during his visit. Sh. Ahmad learned of the student’s condition after midnight and rushed to the student, determined to take him to the hospital.

Once they reached, the doctor advised Sh. Ahmad to go home, assuring him that the hospital would handle everything. However, Sh. Ahmad replied, "This is my son; I will not leave him."

That student later recounted to Sh. Abdullah that Sh. Ahmad stayed by his side the entire night, performing ruqya on him until Fajr.

Subhanallah, Sh. Ahmad treated his students as if they were his own children, offering them the same care and support he would provide to his flesh and blood. This shows the character of our Ulema, true reflections of our beloved Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم.

May Allah have mercy on Sh. Ahmad an-Najmi, the great scholar Mufti of South KSA, may Allah preserve all of the scholars of Ahl-Sunnah, and guide us all to the straight path far from deviation. Aameen.

A remarkable example of Sh. Ali’s etiquette was displayed when he was invited to speak last by the owner of this resort.

Sh. Ali turned to Sh. Muhammad Akur, our teacher and elder (who is 80 years+ young), and respectfully sought his permission to address us. Sh. Akur said a brilliant student like you is more than deserving.

How many of us hastily seize the chance to speak, eager to showcase our memorization or knowledge?

Sh. Ali recognized the importance of his elders' presence and sought permission first...

Subhanallah, such etiquette can only be learned directly from the inheritors of the best of creation.

During today's Dhuhr class on Al-Bayquniyyah, our Sh. Abdullah an-Najmi حفظه الله mentioned to us that when Shaykh Ahmad Yahya an-Najmi completed the first volume of his explanation of Umdatul Ahkaam, he provided a copy to Shaykh al-Albani for review رحمهم الله

Shaykh al-Albani then wrote his Hadith gradings on it and returned it back to Shaykh Ahmad. This commentary can still be found in the published version of volume 1.

Shaykh al-Albani then gifted Shaykh Ahmad a copy of his "Silsilah al-Ahadith as-Sahihah," inscribing on the cover page:

"This work (is a gift) to the virtuous Shaykh Ahmad Yahya an-Najmi with regards and respect."

Sh. Abdullah حفظه الله emphasized the importance of mutual respect among scholars and students of knowledge upon the Sunnah. As the saying goes العلم رحم بين أهله knowledge is a family tie among its people.

Sh. Abdullah said that this copy still remains in Shaykh Ahmad's library.

So after our Asr classes, some of us went to the library to look for it. After searching without success, I asked Shaykh Abdullah about its location, and he revealed this piece of history.

Ya Allah have mercy on these mountains and accept their efforts in teaching and spreading the deen.

Tonight was a beautiful evening in the region of Tuwal, where we gathered with our Shaykh Hasan b. Muhammad ad-Dighreery, one of the closest students of Shaykh Ahmad Najmi رحمه الله.

After today's set of lessons, Sh. Hasan sat with a few of us and shared his invaluable experiences and stories about Shaykh Ahmad غفر الله لهما.

I asked Sh. Hasan if there are any remaining works of Shaykh Ahmad, or if the recently published 18 vol. compilation includes everything.

He responded that the number of unprinted works far exceeds what has been published. He also mentioned that among the books he is currently working on is Shaykh Ahmad's commentary on Sahih Muslim, which is expected to be around 15 volumes or more.

I opened up the status of my Shaykh Ali b. Ahmad al-Haddadi only to find out that he has died...This is after months of being in the hospital due to cancer...

Now, having "seen the light," they seek to reveal why, in their view, Salafiyyah was misguided. What they fail to recognize is that they have merely revealed their own ignorance and shortcomings.

1. Salafiyyah is not tied to any individual or group; it represents a methodology for interpreting the Quran and Sunnah through the lens of the Companions رضي الله عنهم. Even if no "salafi" were alive today, Salafiyyah would remain as a method of understanding the texts, independent of any specific group identity.

2. Do not blame a methodology for your own character flaws and deficiencies. This is a form of deflection—shifting the blame onto others rather than confronting your own mistakes.

It is crucial to recognize and address your personal struggles first; only then can you grow as an individual. Otherwise, you'll continue to cycle through the same issues, seeking new scapegoats for your shortcomings.

3. If you're struggling to acquire knowledge, take responsibility for it. Don't blame scholars for your weakness, laziness, and possibly lack of understanding.

In Saudi Arabia, there are numerous scholars who excel in various fields and systematically build their students into scholars. I've traveled and studied in over 30+ cities in this country to attest to this personally. If you can't get past the beginning stages, then once again, don't blame others.

The only authentic way to comprehend Islam is through the understanding of the Quran and Sunnah as interpreted by the Sahabah, and this is Salafiyyah.

My advice to everyone is to remain vigilant against those who seek to mislead you. Continuously seek Allah's guidance and protection, and learn sincerely from knowledgeable scholars and their students. Avoid listening to randoms and reading their content, as this is a key factor in the spread of ignorance, misguidance, and misinformation.
