People of the Western world are so busy taunting each other over what each has "let happen to their own" country that we're still miles from forming the unity required to fix them as a collective.

December the 24th, 1914, Captain Arthur O'Sullivan of the Royal Irish Rifles was stationed in Rue du Bois, France

He listened to a German voice echoing across the battlefield, conveying a message of refraining from shooting after 12 o'clock, with a proposal for dialogue. One Irish soldier, curious, left his position to investigate. Upon his safe return bearing a German cigar as a gesture of goodwill, more soldiers cautiously joined in, leading to a scene of opposing forces mingling in No Man's Land during the peaceful exchange. Thus commenced the impromptu Christmas Truce of 1914.

Insurgents are often thrown out of helicopters for a specific reason β€” they tend to talk more quickly when this happens than under torture. In one instance, the South African army took a captured terrorist up on a helicopter with a bag over his head, and as they threw him out, he revealed everything they needed to know. He survived β€” the helicopter was just two meters off the ground.

A photo showing the Georgievsky Cavaliers in Novocherkassk, during the Day of the Heroes of the Fatherland. November 26 / December 9, 1916, marked the last time the Georgievsky Cavaliers celebrated their order’s holiday in the Russian Empire.

The Georgievsky Cavaliers had observed their feast day on the Feast of Saint George in Russia until 1917, when both the holiday and the order were abolished by the Bolsheviks.

This is technically incorrect. 7.92mm Mauser would easily penetrate a good deal of cover and every infantry armor worn, as well as through some vehicles including APC's and some lightly armoured tank-sides...

From the letters of the Supreme Ruler of Russia (1918-1920), Admiral Alexander Kolchak

"My task is simply this: to wage a merciless fight against Bolshevism with the ultimate goal of destroying it. When all Bolsheviks are eliminated, then we can discuss state structures and forms for government." (Kolchak, June 15, 1919)

"The die is cast - I will fight to the end. Walking through everyone and stopping at nothing." (Kolchak, Sep 16, 1919)

"Here a ferocious and cruel struggle is waged, in which no prisoners are taken, and if they are taken, it just becomes a situation for the prisoner worse than death... People have become morally corrupt.” (Kolchak, June 15, 1919)

"I have accepted a heavy cross, I can bear it in the name of the Motherland." (Kolchak, July 22, 1919)

β€œEverything will pass, and the damned stain of Bolshevism will be erased like dirt from the face of the Russian land - I still laid a good foundation for this, and tens of thousands of traitors will not rise again.” (Kolchak, Sep 16, 1919)

Once, adults told children not to get tattoos so as to help gain employment and maintain a society of high culture. Now, companies will be ridiculed for rejecting a person with face tattoos. We were told not to swear and that it was rude to whisper. If you're actually angry with the state of the world, then it's time to accept our part in its tacky decline. It was once "cool" to be intelligent and classy. But, we've allowed negative influences to convince us that embarrassing behaviour makes one popular or edgy? Either our ancestors had no class, or we've let them down. All it took was a few fads, and we sold our suit jackets for a world of classless muck. For shame.

Now compare this to the weakest light tanks of Germany or Russia, and you will begin to see why the poor Poles really weren't prepared for the ground invasion with just a bit of artillery and tank destroyers to support.

Polish Tankette; TK-3 tankette was the main light armor in the Polish Army; initially sporting an American Ford A engine, it was later decided to go with a FIAT 122 AC engine instead [already then made in Poland with a license]; this resulted in maximum speed of 46 km/h vs the older 40 km/h with Ford A engines

Unless sort-of a tank destroyer variant, they were pretty meager on armour and weapons;
Armament Hotchkiss wz. 25 7.92 mm (0.3 in) machine-gun
Armor From 3 to 8 mm (0.12-0.31 in)

Most of my male family members were injured, mentally changed or killed during the world wars. Some even died of their wounds after arriving home. Gassed, shot and maimed they returned to their coal mines only to die in further disasters. I always wondered where my inherit need to oppose evil came from, but I need look no further. The wars were a mistake, but the bravery they created was very real indeed.
