Whoever has fasts to make up from the past Ramadan then it is necessary for him to make it up in Sha'baan before the upcoming Ramadan

Shaykh ibn ‘Uthaymin رحمه الله said:

"It is not permissible to postpone making up fast (from the last Ramadan) to the point that the second Ramadan enters without an excuse.

This is because of the statement of 'Aa'ishah رضي الله عنها:

"I had to fast to make from Ramadan and I was not able to do so except in Sha'baan."

The innovations of Sha’baan:

Regarding specifically fasting on the middle of Sha'ban, weak Ahadith have been mentioned that have not been authenticated upon the Prophet ‎ﷺ.

And it is not to be acted upon. And that which has not been mentioned (authentically) is an innovation.

Ahadith regarding the virtue of the night of the middle of Sha'baan are weak and they are not authentically reported from the Prophet ‎ﷺ.

The night of the middle of Sha’baan is not distinguished with anything exclusive. Rather, it is like any other night because the Ahadith mentioned in its regards are weak.

Singling it (the night of the middle of Sha'baan) out by standing in prayer is also an innovation, because it is not mentioned (authentically) that the Prophet ‎ﷺ used to single this night out to pray.

Rather, it is like the other nights. If it is the usual practice of a person to stand up and pray during the night, then let him stand up and pray during this night just like the other nights.

Shaykh Sulayman ar-Ruhayli حفظه الله:

“No believer has prepared for the month of Ramadan with anything greater than abundant fasting in Sha’ban, frequent recitation of the Qur’an in it, the fear of Allah, sincere repentance from sins, reducing excessive speech, accustoming the soul to abandoning distractions and diversions such as social media, sincere determination to benefit from the month of goodness, and reminding the soul of its swift departure.”

Sha’ban is a prelude to Ramadan, and abundant fasting in it is like the regular Sunnah fasts before the fast of Ramadan.

A’ishah رضي الله عنه said: “I did not see the Messenger of Allah ﷺ fast any month more than his fasting in Sha’ban; he used to fast all of Sha’ban—he used to fast Sha’ban except a little.”

And the Salaf would turn to their copies of the Qur’an in it, preparing themselves to receive the Month of the Qur’an.

I do not understand how those burdened with worries neglect abundant salah (prayers of peace and blessings) upon the Prophet ﷺ. O you who are distressed, no matter what your concern is, increase in sending salah upon the Prophet ﷺ, and your worry will be relieved.

It is narrated from Ubayy ibn Ka‘b رضي الله عنه that he said: I said, “O Messenger of Allah, I frequently send salah upon you. How much of my supplication should I dedicate to you?” He replied, “As much as you wish.” I said, “A quarter?” He replied, “As much as you wish, but if you increase, it is better for you.” I said, “A half?” He replied, “As much as you wish, but if you increase, it is better for you.” I said, “Two-thirds?” He replied, “As much as you wish, but if you increase, it is better for you.” I said, “Shall I dedicate all of my supplication to you?” He replied, “If you do so, your worries will be relieved, and your sins will be forgiven.”

It is also narrated from Hibban ibn Munqidh رضي الله عنه that a man said: “O Messenger of Allah, shall I dedicate a third of my supplication to you?” He replied, “Yes, if you wish.” The man said: “Two-thirds?” He replied, “Yes.” The man said: “Shall I dedicate all of my supplication to you?” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, “If you do so, Allah will suffice you concerning your worries about this world and the Hereafter.”

The meaning of "my supplication" here refers to du‘a (invocation). This does not mean that the one burdened with worries abandons du‘a entirely, but rather that sometimes they make all their du‘a salah upon the Prophet ﷺ.

اللهم اجعلنا من المتقين

Salafiyyah Reminders

19 Jan, 22:27

Birr is the excellence, virtue and goodness present in something. Opposite to it is ithm (sinning).

The Prophet ‎ﷺ said:
“Birr is good manners, and ithm is those (evil) thoughts that weave about in your chest and you fear that other people may know about them.”
Reported by Muslim

The meaning of taqwa is that the servant puts between himself and that which he fears, i.e. gaining the anger and the wrath of his Lord, a guard that will protect him.

The word taqwa is a derivative of the word 'ittaqa' from the root word 'waqa', which means, 'he protected himself from that which harms him' Essentially, this is what taqwa is - a protection from that which harms the self (sins).

Taqwa is the means and way leading to birr. One practising it protects himself from the fire.

Thus the relationship of birr and taqwa is similar to that of health (which is a purpose) and care for the body (which is a means).

"Indeed, the number of months ordained by Allah is twelve—in Allah's Record since the day He created the heavens and the earth—of which four are sacred. That is the right religion (way). So do not wrong yourselves during them"

[09:36]

While the rest of the world celebrates the beginning of their new year through acts of disobedience and innovation, we as Muslims begin to prepare for the month of Rajab which we have now entered. This is a sacred month in which Allah has mentioned in the Qur'an the importance of Rajab is also a golden opportunity of preparation for Ramadan (اللهم بلغنا) in which we plant the seeds of good deeds we want to carry over to ramadan and beyond it. fasting, praying, dhikr, seeking knowledge, giving charity; much more. Good deeds have more reward and bad deeds hold more sin.

Do not be distracted by the shiny wordly temptations of a ‘new year’. We don’t copy the disbelievers in their innovations and traditions because the Muslim is constantly seeking improvement of themselves, every night and day through following the sunnah of our beloved Prophet ﷺ and the perfect religion Allah has blessed us with.

Since the appearance of the Khawarij in the history of Islām, they have not been satisfied with any of the Muslim rulers, starting with the two Rightly Guided Caliphs, ’Uthman and ‘Ali رضي الله عنه and then those who came after them. They believe that they (i.e. the rulers) did not rule according to the Shari’ah.

And they (i.e. the Khawarij) will not be satisfied with today’s ruler, no matter who he is, because their understanding of ruling according to the Shari’ah is deviant and distorted. They are people of discord and division and carry weapons against those who disagree with their opinion.

When 'Umar رضي الله عنه was a khalifa, he noticed a man who no longer used to attend his gatherings so he asked about him, people told that he became alcoholic and is lost, so leave him and move on. But 'Umar insisted to a plan to protect his health and Hereafter.

He sent a letter to this man with just one ayah of Surah Ghafir: “Forgiver of sins & Accepter of repentance, severe in punishment, infinite in bounty. There is no God but Him, to Him is the Ultimate return” [Qur’an 40:3]

He instructed to give this letter to him directly. He also ordered those in the congregation to supplicate for this man.

When the man read the letter, he shed into tears, repented to Allah and made a quick transition to leave alcohol behind.

Throughout the history of Muslims, the one who calls to Allah, who follows the path of the Messenger of Allah ‎ﷺ and who adheres to the guidance of the pious predecessors, strives to bring people out of darkness into the light by spreading beneficial knowledge, and he strives to prevent people from falling back into darkness from light by warning against desires and the people of desires.

Every era has a faction from the people of desires whose evil is great, and the faction of our time whose evil is great is the Muslim Brotherhood. No one who is free from intellectual and ideological deviation doubts that.

Warning against this group is an obligation of our time, especially these days when some deceivers are trying to polish the Muslim Brotherhood and bring it back to the forefront.

May Allah not allow them to achieve their goal nor fulfil their desire.

So whoever performs this duty, well done to him, and let him be patient with what befalls him, for he is a Mujahid in the way of Allah.

The Prophet ‎ﷺ said : “If you see that Allah is giving a servant what he likes from the worldly life while he is upon His disobedience…

meaning what the servant likes from the matters of the worldly life,

… then Allah is leading him to destruction” (Ahmad 4/145)

Then he ‎ﷺ recited the statement of Allah (6:44): “So when they forgot (the warning) that by which they had been reminded, We opened to them the doors of every good thing…

Look at this worldly giving! The doors of everything! Money, business, houses, mansions, cars etc.

… until, when they rejoiced in that which they were given, We seized them suddenly, and they were [then] in despair.”

So if the worldly giving is consecutive for the servant and is increasing and his wealth is growing while he is persistent upon sins then this is from the signs that he is being led to destruction! As our Prophet ‎ﷺ said: “Then it is Allah leading him to destruction”.
