Purpose of Life | The Gap in ME
While attending "Al-Farg'oniy litseyi," I began questioning the existence of God and the purpose of life. Seeking desperately for an answer, I asked my saddest questionsโ"Why are we here? Why were we created?"โfrom almost anyone I felt emotionally close to, considered intellectually strong, or seemed to have their life under control. However, most of them didn't quite know their answers either. This lack of knowledge left me suffering internally. To heal, I abandoned my questions and went with the flow, distracting myself from what had become the most challenging problem of my life.
In the summer of 2022, I received permission to live alone in Fergana, 70 km away from my home. Left to my own, I woke up each day with the same existential problem. It feels bad when you can solve math problems but not yours. Sadly, the internal struggle even led me dangerously close to suicide. At last, I began to disregard everything, again pushing the problem from my mind and spending my time aimlessly. But the problem was still here, untouched yet enlarged.
The following summer, in 2023, I forced my parents to let me leave the home, a place I used to enjoy with my grandfather. I returned to Fergana, this time staying with university students in an old, inexpensive rental house with an elderly shopkeeper whose children abandoned because of materialistic heritage. From then on, I started attending the masjid with the old man and others. As the Imam recited the verses, my soul began to feel a connection with the divine and the peace lately it had been seeking. However, my rational mind remained unsatisfied. Thus, I almost read Quran to appease my reasoning for the time being.
To cut a long story short, this summer, I came to Tashkent and wondered around its libraries (well, still). It was there that I finally found the answer I had been searching for.
The Answer
According to "Purpose of Life" by Jeffrey Lang, 3 words can describe a human life: intellect, choice, and suffering.
INTELLECT, he quotes several verses from the Ayatal Kursi which described Adam's ability to name things while the angels could not. CHOICE, he references of Adam eating from the wrong tree which as the mankindโs first-ever independent decision. Finally, for the SUFFERING, he mentions Adam and Eve's sorrow after being abandoned from the paradise.
Jeffrey stated the purpose of life as getting into a loving relationship with God. For better understanding, to get into a relationship one has to have common attributes with the other. What do we have in common with God? They are the 13 qualities (maybe there is more) mentioned in Quran that are in common with God which we have to embody in our life. The list includes Compassion, Forgiveness, Justice, Wisdom, Love, Patience, Gratitude, Generosity, Guidance, Truthfulness, Trustworthiness, Contentment, Peace.
You can't get the 13 attributes without the 3 words (INTELLECT, CHOICE, SUFFERING). The 13 attributes will let you excel in 3 words (INTELLECT, CHOICE, SUFFERING).
Why others (example: computer) canโt be like humans? Why humans are unique?
Humans can program computers to excel in 3 words, but they won't have the 13 attributes. (Example: Have you ever seen a computer with a powerful intellect and yet truthful, compassionate, loving?)
