Dereja (Africa Jobs Network) in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation and Hawassa University is running a pilot entrepreneurship support program dedicated to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship. We are committed to providing resources, mentorship, and support to early-stage startups.
We are thrilled to announce an opportunity for startups being incubated in university centers to showcase their innovative ideas and secure invaluable mentorship. We are committed to fostering the growth of early-stage ventures and providing them with the support they need to succeed.
Opportunity
**Five selected startups will be given the opportunity to receive a comprehensive 2-3 month technical and business mentorship program. This program is designed to equip entrepreneurs with the skills and knowledge necessary to take their ventures to the next level.
Requirements
========
To be eligible for this opportunity, startups must:
• Be currently incubated in a university center
• Prepare a pitch presentation that is no longer than 30 minutes and 15 slides
• Clearly outline the current stage of their startup and the specific support they require to progress to the next stage
Pitch Presentation Guidelines
*The pitch presentation should cover the following key areas:
• Startup Idea: Clearly articulate your unique value proposition and the problem your startup solves.
• Market Analysis: Demonstrate your understanding of the market landscape, target audience, and competitive environment.
• Team: Highlight the skills, experience, and passion of your team members.
• Progress and Challenges: Discuss your startup's current stage of development, key achievements, and the challenges you are facing.
• Mentorship Needs: Specify the areas where you seek mentorship, such as technical development, business strategy, or fundraising.
Selection Criteria

The selection of startups will be based on the following criteria:
• Innovation and Potential: The originality and potential impact of the startup idea.
• Market Opportunity: The size and growth potential of the target market.
• Team Strength: The quality and experience of the founding team.
• Pitch Quality: The clarity, persuasiveness, and professionalism of the pitch presentation.
• Mentorship Needs Alignment: The match between the startup's needs and the expertise of the mentors.
Pitching Event
Startups should prepare their pitch within the next 5 working dates (October 28) and send a confirmation email to this address (

[email protected] ) to schedule their pitch and pitching event details will be notified through the incubation center team.
