Household Chores Are From The Sunnah

Shaykh Ibn Uthaymeen [رحمه الله] said:

❝When a person is at home then it is from the Sunnah, that for example he makes his own tea, cooks if he knows how to and washes up that which needs washing, all of this is from the Sunnah.

If you do this then you get the reward of following the Sunnah, with imitating the Messenger [ﷺ] and in humbling yourself for Allaah - the Mighty and Majestic.

This also brings about love between you and your wife. When your family sense that you help them in their chores they will love you and your value to them will increase, therefore, this will end up being a great benefit.❞

and for this reason, you will find that that the people with the most nūr on their face are those who are consistent and are often praying with concentration and humility purely for Allāh.

likewise, it’s nūr for the heart of man, it opens for him the door of knowledge of the rulings, attributes, actions and names of Allāh, Exalted is He.

لو وعت قلوبنا قول النَّبيِّ ﷺ:"عجبًا لأمر المؤمن، إنَّ أمره كلَّه خيرٌ"؛ لما جزع قلبٌ ولا طغى، ولا تسخَّط لسانٌ ولا بغى، وكان أحدنا عَدْلًا في سرَّائه وضرَّائه، قد حجب نفسه عن الخلائق، وأوقفها على أمر الخالق.

It is astonishing to see that those who recite in their prayers:
“He (Allaah) begets not, nor is He begotten”, yet they are seen wishing and celebrating with those who ascribe a son to Allaah!

✘ Do not listen to those who make excuses and say that wishing is not like celebrating.

✘ Christmas is not a part of Christianity, there is nothing in their books to support the claim. The Christians are only imitating the pagans in their rituals.
As Allah تعالى said:

وَقَالَتِ الْيَهُودُ عُزَيْرٌ ابْنُ اللَّـهِ وَقَالَتِ النَّصَارَى الْمَسِيحُ ابْنُ اللَّـهِ ۖ ذَٰلِكَ قَوْلُهُم بِأَفْوَاهِهِمْ ۖ يُضَاهِئُونَ قَوْلَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِن قَبْلُ ۚ قَاتَلَهُمُ اللَّـهُ ۚ أَنَّىٰ يُؤْفَكُونَ

“And the Jews say: 'Uzair (Ezra) is the son of Allah, and the Christians say: Messiah is the son of Allah. That is a saying from their mouths. They imitate the saying of the disbelievers of old. Allah's Curse be on them, how they are deluded away from the truth!”

Allah has no Partner or Associate

Allah declares Himself to be above having any child or partner in dominion, control and worship.

He says:

مَا اتَّخَذَ اللَّهُ مِن وَلَدٍ وَمَا كَانَ مَعَهُ مِنْ إِلَهٍ إِذًا لَّذَهَبَ كُلُّ إِلَهٍ بِمَا خَلَقَ وَلَعَلَا بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ

Allah has not taken any son, nor has there ever been with Him any deity. [If there had been], then each deity would have taken what it created, and some of them would have sought to overcome others. Exalted is Allah above what they describe [concerning Him].

(Al-Mu'minun 23:91)

meaning, if it were decreed that there should be a plurality of deities, each of them would have exclusive control over whatever he had created, so there would never be any order in the universe. But what we see is that the universe is ordered and cohesive, with the upper and lower realms connected to one another in the most perfect fashion

Hasten to do good deeds, (before you are overtaken) by a fitna which would be like a segment of the dark night: a man becomes a believer in the morning and becomes a disbeliever in the evening, or he becomes a believer in the evening and becomes a disbeliever in the morning. He would sell his religion for worldly gain.

"The slave has two standings before Allâh:
one in prayer and the other on the Day he meets Him. Whoever fulfills the right of the first standing, the second will be made easier for him. But whoever takes the first standing lightly and does not fulfill its right, the second will be made difficult."

Imitation of the Kuffar - Dangerous !

Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-Aas رضي الله عنه as collected by Imam al-Bayhaqi with an authentic chain when he said:

“Whosoever lives in the lands of the mushrikin and celebrates their Nayrouz and festivals and keeps imitating them until he dies in that condition, will be resurrected with them on the Day of Resurrection.”

It’s surprising to see Muslims celebrating Diwali and bursting crackers—what’s the joy in this for us as Muslims?

Prophet ﷺ warned us about imitating other cultures in ways that stray from our own faith when he said,

"Whoever imitates a people is one of them." [Sunan Abu Dawood, 4031]

Diwali, Birthdays, Halloween, Christmas, Thanksgiving, Valentines, and many others are other examples of impermissible celebrations.

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ قَالَ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏

"‏ إِذَا نُودِيَ بِالصَّلاَةِ أَدْبَرَ الشَّيْطَانُ وَلَهُ ضُرَاطٌ، فَإِذَا قُضِيَ أَقْبَلَ، فَإِذَا ثُوِّبَ بِهَا أَدْبَرَ، فَإِذَا قُضِيَ أَقْبَلَ، حَتَّى يَخْطِرَ بَيْنَ الإِنْسَانِ وَقَلْبِهِ، فَيَقُولُ اذْكُرْ كَذَا وَكَذَا‏.‏ حَتَّى لاَ يَدْرِي أَثَلاَثًا صَلَّى أَمْ أَرْبَعًا فَإِذَا لَمْ يَدْرِ ثَلاَثًا صَلَّى أَوْ أَرْبَعًا سَجَدَ سَجْدَتَىِ السَّهْوِ ‏"

Narrated Abu Huraira:

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "When the call for the prayer is pronounced, Satan takes to his heels, passing wind with noise, When the call for the prayer is finished, he comes back. And when the Iqama is pronounced, he again takes to his heels, and after its completion, he returns again to interfere between the (praying) person and his heart, saying to him. 'Remember this or that thing.' till the person forgets whether he has offered three or four rak`at: so if one forgets whether he has prayed three or four rak`at, he should perform two prostrations of Sahu (i.e. forgetfulness).

‎"Those with a sound heart are granted insight by Allah Almighty, allowing them to recognize the evils of sin and avoid it, even if their souls are not at ease with leaving it. This is one of Allah's blessings upon His servants"

Ḥasan al-Baṣrī رحمه الله:

“A believer commits a sin and then does not stop worrying about it until he enters Jannah.”

Shaykh Abdulaziz ibn Baz rahimahullah was asked:

Question: I would like from your eminence a word of guidance for the beginner in seeking knowledge, and what are the most important texts that need to be memorized?

Answer: ...the most important thing is to take care of the Qur'an, to recite it a lot, to reflect on its meanings, and then the Sunnah.

Among the best and shortest books on hadith are: “Umdat al-Hadith” by Sheikh Abd al-Ghani, and “Buloogh al-Maram” by Sheikh al-Hafidh Ibn Hajar, these are two very good, brief and useful books.

In creed (aqeedah), the book “Kitab Al-Tawheed” by Sheikh Muhammad Ibn Abdil-Wahhaab, “Al-Aqeedah Al-Wasitiah” by Shaykhul-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, also “The Three Fundamental Principles (Al-Usool Al-Thalatha)” and “Kashf Al-Shubuhaat” are great and useful books on the creed, which we recommend memorizing.

Likewise, “Al-Nawawi’s Forty hadeeth”, and its supplement by Ibn Rajab “Jawami’ al-Kalim”, fifty sound hadiths, we recommend memorizing as well.

س: أرجو من سماحتكم كلمة توجيهية للمُبتدئ في طلب العلم، وما أهم المتون التي يلزم حفظها؟

...أهم شيءٍ العناية بالقرآن، والإكثار من تلاوته، وتدبر معانيه، ثم السُّنة.

ومن أحسن الكتب وأخصرها في الحديث: "عمدة الحديث" للشيخ عبدالغني، و"بلوغ المرام" للشيخ الحافظ ابن حجر، هذان كتابان جيدان مُختصران مُفيدان.

وفي العقيدة كتاب "التوحيد" للشيخ محمد، و"العقيدة الواسطية" لشيخ الإسلام ابن تيمية، و"ثلاثة الأصول"، و"كشف الشبهات"، كتب مُفيدة عظيمة في العقيدة، نُوصي بحفظها.

كذلك "الأربعون النووية"، وتتمَّتها لابن رجب في الحديث في "جوامع الكلم"، خمسون حديثًا جيدًا، نوصي بحفظها أيضًا.

وَهِىَ تَجۡرِى بِهِمۡ فِى مَوۡجٍ كَٱلۡجِبَالِ وَنَادَىٰ نُوحٌ ٱبۡنَهُۥ وَكَانَ فِى مَعۡزِلٍ يَٰبُنَىَّ ٱرۡكَب مَّعَنَا وَلَا تَكُن مَّعَ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ

And it sailed with them through waves like mountains, and Noah called to his son who was apart [from them], "O my son, come aboard with us and be not with the disbelievers."

Hud 11:43

قَالَ سَئَاوِىٓ إِلَىٰ جَبَلٍ يَعۡصِمُنِى مِنَ ٱلۡمَآءِۚ قَالَ لَا عَاصِمَ ٱلۡيَوۡمَ مِنۡ أَمۡرِ ٱللَّهِ إِلَّا مَن رَّحِمَۚ وَحَالَ بَيۡنَهُمَا ٱلۡمَوۡجُ فَكَانَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُغۡرَقِينَ

[But] he said, "I will take refuge on a mountain to protect me from the water." [Noah] said, "There is no protector today from the decree of Allāh, except for whom He gives mercy." And the waves came between them, and he was among the drowned.

[1] A man whom Allāh has given wealth and he spends it righteously [in a just and right way according to what Allāh has ordered].

[2] A man whom Allāh has given Al-Hikmah [wisdom, knowledge of the Qur’ān and the Sunnah legal ways of the Prophet ﷺ] and he acts according to it and teaches it to others.❞
