On The Unexpected Georgetown Acceptance

After 20 brutal rejections, I had almost no hope left. Then came the Georgetown acceptance. I still remember the overwhelming sense of disbelief and relief—it was a lifeline, a miracle after months of crushing setbacks. For a high schooler with little to cling to, it meant everything: I could attend some good university on a full-ride!

Georgetown in Qatar was a apparently full of highs and lows—the best and worst year of my life. But it was also transformative. The connections I made, especially with incredible Uzbeks who continue to guide me to this day, were priceless. And let’s be honest, few would turn down a $360K grant in the increasingly competitive Middle East admission saga.

Since then, I’ve watched others follow in my footsteps, with three Zuck Academy students earning their own spots at Georgetown. Azamjon’s and Sherbek’s acceptances were milestones for our mentorship journey, moments that reaffirmed why we do this work.

Because sometimes, all it takes is one ‘yes’ to change everything.

On NYUAD’s Acceptance

I remember opening that portal, my heart pounding, and seeing the word “Congratulations.” It felt surreal,—like my life had just opened into a new dimension. I shed tears, thinking: this was it, a hard-fought chance to transform myself, to break free from old life of sheer despair, to prove what I could truly accomplish.

I hadn’t dared to believe it would happen, but I took the leap. And that leap changed everything—my mindset, my aspirations, my sense of what was possible. Even now, as I relish this campus’s fierce rigor and astonishing resources, I’m grateful beyond words. Each day, in all its complexity, validates that moment of courage.

However, it took me more than two years, 40+ rejections, years of hard work, and countless doubts to be finally be able to see that one sacred acceptance.

On Handling The Roomie Relationship

Living in the world’s most diverse academic environment forces you to mature—fast. At NYUAD, my roommate this semester was a visiting NYU student originally from Mainland China, shaped equally by Beijing’s group mindset and Manhattan’s ruthless individualism. Yet we coexisted like clockwork, perfectly tuned without so much as a whispered negotiation. We never even brought up a roommate treaty, let alone sign it.

No loud music when the other’s asleep. No petty complaints about who forgot to take out the trash. No intrusive questions when one of us was half-conscious or having a bad day. The bathroom always spotless, the space always breathable, and we each respected the other’s quiet comfort zone. Earphones in. Food cleared out. We operated like two professionals sharing the same tight office—both aware that we came here to work, grow, and just mind our own business. The sign of the best roommate is one who is simply invisible in your life. Was he my friend? Absolutely not! We barely exchanged words, and that is what I love about this!

This might sound like basic courtesy. It’s not. Many people struggle to adapt, to truly respect differences and remain civilized under the same roof. If you find it challenging to handle global discourse online, imagine sharing your living space with someone from a radically different world. In a place where everyone’s lives collide, civility matters. Show respect. Be flexible. Stretch your mind and adapt. And if you can’t? Perhaps that’s a sign to not even think about studying at a top American University.

Many applicants try too hard to impress with their Additional Information, gap year explanations and school change essays. They turn these sections into narrative-driven essays full of fluff, fancy metaphors, and needless detail. We, at Zuck Academy, see it all the time: endless flourishes that say nothing new, buried truths that just needed a simple, honest spotlight.

Provide the necessary context—nothing more, nothing less. If you changed schools or took a gap year, just explain why. Always focus on growth and impact of your decisions. Your gap year statement should, for example, clearly mention how you actually are different and better than last year. Meanwhile, your school change essay could even comprise only 1-2 sentences. If you faced a crisis that hurt your grades, state the facts and take responsibility. Avoid excuses. Show you’ve grown.

Resist the temptation to turn this space into another personal essay. Do that, and they’ll thank you with their attention, and maybe even their approval.

Zuck Academy

17 Dec, 09:16

On the Additional Info Section of CommonApp

The Additional Information section isn’t a dumping ground for random details. It’s a delicate tool. Only use it if you must. If illness, family upheaval, or an unspeakably complex activity shaped your journey, clarify it here. If a harsh penalty or unusual circumstance demands context, speak up.

Don’t waste this space on familiar turf, also spamming the officers with redundant information. They know high school patterns. They understand typical clubs and standard drops in performance. Give them something truly foreign, unexpected, or impossible to grasp without further explanation. Otherwise, it is probably better to opt for remaining silent. Your application won’t suffer. Instead, it will breathe easier without unnecessary clutter. When in doubt, trust simplicity.

Zuck Academy

24 Nov, 18:35

🌍 Meet Madina: A New Student at AdmiXGlobe Novice Support

Let’s introduce you to a few hypothetical versions of Madina, each with a unique story, all sharing the same goal: studying abroad with confidence and clarity.

Madina #1:
Madina has worked hard, scoring a stellar IELTS 7.5 and putting in countless hours to prepare for the SAT. While she didn’t hit that elusive 1500 mark, she knows one thing for certain—there’s more to the world than Ivy League schools. She’s ready to shine at universities in Europe, Asia, or the Middle East. With her family’s support and a commitment to pursuing her dream, she just needs a mentor to guide her through applications.

Madina #2:
Madina knows that the American Education System (Liberal Arts system) isn’t for her. She has her sights set on the UK, Korea, or a STEM-specialized program in Europe or Japan. Why? Because she wants to specialize early, diving headfirst into her field of choice. She’s already picked her dream university and country but feels overwhelmed by the application processes and navigating requirements in multiple countries.

Madina #3:
Madina plans to return to Uzbekistan after her studies, but she knows she needs a degree from a reputable university to stand out. She’s considering government scholarships to fund her education in the United States but feels lost in the complexities of applications and exams.

Madina represents just a fraction of the students we can help through AdmiXGlobe: Novice Support. Whether you’re new to the admissions process or simply need clarity, this program is for you!

Let’s make your global dream a reality with AdmiXGlobe.

🌍 Redefining Admissions: "AdmiXGlobe"

For far too long, the admissions world has revolved around a single axis: the United States. The glittering allure of Ivy League schools and competitive American universities has become the holy grail of college applications. While our “AdmiXAura” program embraces this rigor, championing the few who thrive under its extreme selectivity, it’s also time to challenge this exclusivity.

Enter "AdmiXGlobe".

"AdmiXGlobe" is built for students who dream beyond borders, who envision themselves in the classrooms of Europe, Asia, or the Middle East. It caters to students who may not have 20+ extracurriculars or a perfect SAT or IELTS scores, but possess a relentless drive to select a different course through scholarship-rich, globally recognized universities that promise just as bright a future.

Because everyone deserves a chance to study where their potential takes them. And do it with us!

After receiving overwhelming requests for a more inclusive program, Zuck Academy is excited to launch "AdmiXGlobe" which is designed for students who may not have extensive application experience but possess great potential for global university admissions.

We deeply understand that our premium "AdmiXAura" program may not particularly fit into many people's needs for the application support, as it is particularly designed for those who have already accomplished exceptional achievements and possess an exceptional potential to apply for the most competitive universities.

Whether you’re completely new to the admissions process or seeking to refine your approach, we’ve built this program to help every student achieve their dream of studying abroad. With Zuck Mansurov and our team of expert mentors who have 3+ years of experience, you will benefit from our unmatched experience in navigating global admissions.

Do you only have IELTS, or a relatively lower score from the SAT that is preventing you from your aspirations to study abroad? Apply with us! Don't squander your chance only because you are not experienced in the college applications! As this is a new program, we are accepting only 10 students. Hurry up! It is a first-come first-served registration.

We Are Done With Our ED Students!

November 15 marked our final support to our "AdmiXAura" students who applied for their dream schools under the binding early decision admission plan.

The most importantly, our student batch this time comprised people from different nations and geolocations, and that is what truly defines our progress over the years. Here is one of the few locations our students joined the Zoom sessions from: United States, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Karakalpakstan, and Uzbekistan. We are glad we are expanding on much faster pace than we could ever imagine.

Now is the time to wrap up and reflect on our ED application cycle!

Student Reaction on the Polished Essay

With all our mentors, we have currently been simultaneously working with a number of selected "AdmiXAura" students on their applications, and we have recently finished all the applications to their respective ED universities.

We believe it is now the time to rewind, reflect on what we have accomplished, and how we will approach our interaction with the potential students moving forward.

This reaction is all too familiar. Almost every student we have worked with gets carried away after the editing and revising process by the mentors. It is a beautiful reaction to watch. Every single time.

Our "AdmixAura" program for ED1 cycle has officially closed, and we shall soon launch a new application for ED2 applicants. Wait for the new form. Also, we have another huge, more inclusive, program coming up. A lot of news coming up!

It is equally important to highlight that there is now an Uzbek professor teaching and doing research at NYU Abu Dhabi, making it even more attractive to the aspiring Uzbek applicants!

Bekhzod Khoshimov is not only a distinguished professor teaching both at NYUAD Undergraduate and NYUAD Stern MBA Program, but also we probably have heard a lot about him from his articles, podcasts, research, and interviews. He is one of the few people trying tirelessly to pioneer the Uzbek Scholarly Work in Economics that has been almost non-existent prior to his contributions.
