On 04 December 2024, AVI, led by the President Dr. Chheng Kimlong met and exchanged views with the delegation from the Chinese Peopleʼs Association for Peace and Disarmament (CPAPD), led by Dr. Tao Tao, Deputy Secretary General of CPAPD at the AVI Office. The discussion mainly focused on Cambodia’s foreign policy, Cambodia-China bilateral relations, the evolving geopolitical landscape in ASEAN and the Asia-Pacific region, regional security challenges, the super powers geopolitical competition and other issues of common interest.

On November 14, 2024, in Moscow, Russia, the Asian Vision Institute (AVI) and the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) sparked a significant milestone with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Key Developments of Cooperation: International Relations, Public Policy, and Sustainable Development. This MoU establishment aims to promote collaboration in the areas of education, research, and cultural exchange.

Alongside the signing of the MoU in Moscow, Dr. Chheng Kimlong, President of the Asian Vision Institute (AVI), attended the International Conference "Russia and ASEAN in the Asia-Pacific Region: Dynamics of Cooperation, Regional Processes, and Global Context" at MGIMO University. During the conference, Dr. Chheng Kimlong also delivered his speech in the plenary session on the evolving relationship between ASEAN and Russia, the importance of ASEAN's centrality and unity in the developing regional architecture of the Asia-Pacific region, and even shared his view on the role of Russia with ASEAN in advancing regional stability and prosperity by establishing the region as a leading advocate for a just and inclusive global order.

On 23-25 October 2024, Mr. Lim Menghour, Director of Mekong Centre for Strategic Studies (MCSS) of AVI and Mr. Chang Heanglong, Research Fellow of MCSS attended and delivered remarks in the 15th Southwest Forum and the 7th Think Tank Forum of the Global Center for Mekong Studies (GCMS) under the theme of regionalism for new development and Mekong-Lancang Cooperation for Peace and Prosperity at Yunnan University, China.

The forum was also attended by scholars and researchers from think tanks of the Mekong countries together with leaders and students from Yunnan University and other government institutions of China.

The gatherings serve as catalysts for new ideas, networking, and a shared vision of unity, all of which are vital to addressing the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. It’s inspiring to see hope being generated for sustainable development and a future built on cooperation.
