We are honored to announce that Ustadha Badriyya Tahhan will be visiting the Al-Maqasid community from the UK. She will join the sisters of our community for two special gatherings, inshaAllah.

On Friday, January 10th, Ustadha Badriyya will join our weekly Ladies’ Burda at 3:00 PM. After the recitation, she will share uplifting words of wisdom with the sisters in attendance.

On Saturday, January 11th we will gather from 5:00 PM-7:30 PM for the Hadhra Ihda ‘Ishriya of Sayida Khadijah, followed by a lecture by Ustadha Badriyya and a potluck dinner. This blessed gathering is a beautiful opportunity for dhikr, reflection, and sharing a meal together as a community.

We warmly invite all sisters to join us for these meaningful events to benefit from Ustadha Badriyya’s presence and teachings.

Heart to Heart is a monthly discussion over coffee and brunch. We seek to come together as a community and discuss topics related to Islamic spirituality.

Our discussions are centered around the book ‘The Path of the Worshipful Servants' by Imam al-Ghazali, which is a unique book that discusses the ways to overcome the obstacles on the spiritual path.

[Quran 27:62] The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ has said, "The Ummah in their mutual love, mercy, and affection is like one body. If one part of the body suffers, the rest of the body responds with wakefulness and fever." [Bukhari & Muslim]

As believers, we never lose hope and we recognize that Allah's will is supreme. Even when the Prophet ﷺ faced the most debilitating challenges, he ﷺ turned to Allah constantly and sought only His support.

Join us as we gather on the auspicious day of Jumu’a to collectively make duʿa for our brothers and sisters in Palestine.

The Quest for Virtuous Character is a concise yet profound treatise on the virtues of noble character, its defining signs, and the traits that contradict it. Drawing from the works of esteemed scholars such as Imam al-Ghazali, it offers thoughtful reflections on embodying praiseworthy qualities, deeply rooted in Islamic teachings.

This work was authored by Habib Muhammad al-Haddar (may Allah have mercy on him), a distinguished scholar, spiritual guide, and saint from the noble lineage of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Renowned for his profound knowledge, wisdom, and piety, he was a shining light of Islamic scholarship and an exemplar of noble character. Habib Muhammad devoted his life to guiding people to Allah, nurturing future Muslim scholars, and sharing timeless wisdom.

The Quest for Virtuous Character was taught by Habib Muhammad al-Haddar to his daughter, Hababa Nur, who later passed it on to our esteemed teacher, Sayyida Hafsa Ba-Alawi.

The Quest for Virtuous Character with Sayyida Hafsa Ba-Alawi will begin on Saturday, December 21st, from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm at the Al-Maqasid Green Barn, in sha’ Allah.

It will be held three Saturdays each month, with the Wayfarers to God series taking place on the fourth Saturday, in sha’ Allah.

From the bounty of Allah, we will complete our daily Qur’an Reading on Monday, December 2nd after Fajr prayer Insha Allah. We will follow with reading the blessed supplication of Sayyiduna Ali Zayn al-‘Abidin.

Narrations indicate that when the Qur’an is completed mercy descends, prayers are accepted, and 4,000 angel say ‘Amin’ to the supplications made. Believers would gather together for the occasion so the blessing would become widespread. We invite all of you and your children to take part.

[Quran 27:62] The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ has said, "The Ummah in their mutual love, mercy, and affection is like one body. If one part of the body suffers, the rest of the body responds with wakefulness and fever." [Bukhari & Muslim]

As believers, we never lose hope and we recognize that Allah's will is supreme. Even when the Prophet ﷺ faced the most debilitating challenges, he ﷺ turned to Allah constantly and sought only His support.

Join us as we gather on the auspicious day of Jumu’a to collectively make duʿa for our brothers and sisters in Palestine.
