One often hears that the horrific forced conversions of our ancestors “civilized” Europe.
Yet, look at Japan; the vast majority of Japanese follow a polytheistic, animistic folk religion very similar to our own, and Japan remains a highly functional society. Japan is another prime example of a polytheistic society, and had our ancestors never been converted, chances are our nations would look similar. ᛉ

Reddit is the biggest cesspool on the net. Not a hot take, I know. Yet it’s still useful to check it out from time to time. Why? Just to do the opposite, really. Best example for us is the self-proclaimed pagan community it has. Not saying all people there are degenerates with no real belief, but the majority obviously are. A great source of lolcows if you need them. Here are some anti-dogma types answering a question about not praying. They "do what feels right" since actually "you make the rules"!

Hermes is an ancient Greek god associated with various domains, including trade, wealth, luck, fertility, animal husbandry, sleep, language, thieves, and travel. He was the son of Zeus and the Pleiad Maia, and often identified with the Roman god Mercury. Hermes served as the messenger of the gods and was known for his cunning and quickness.

Here the Slavic woman talks about a Slavic wedding tradition of placing a veil on the bride for the purposes of symbolizing her death of who she was. She died as a unmarried young girl in her family’s house so that she can be reborn as a wife in her new family’s house her husband’s house.

The Slavic woman also pointed out that for the pagan Slavs prior to Christianity, all bride’s wedding dresses were never white but red or in many cases red and other colors but the main color was red to symbolize fertility. The white bride dress is an Abrahamic wedding tradition

These modern day stars of western conservative Christian movement are deliberately misrepresenting what western pre-Christian paganism is to the gullible public. These Christians are intentionally lumping the pre-Christian, ancestral indigenous/ethnic European tradition and faiths with modern day creations like Satanism, Wicca, and even leftist culture.

I try as much as possible to introduce the world to the true meaning of indigenous, pre-Christian European heritage. Of course I am not an expert on this subject, and I never claimed to be, but I try to share what I have learned over the years with the audiences on YouTube comment section, Facebook, and other social media platforms.

I want people to know that there is a distinction between Wicca, Satanism, Universalist leftist paganism, and the pre-Christian native traditions of European people.

These Christians have always tried to demonized ones who were here before them. The Christians erased the ancient history of European pagan royal dynasties whom their Christian ancestors have exterminated. In comparison to the very ancient pagans, the Christians are very recent newcomers who didn’t build the western civilization but took it from the pagans

And I agree with those who do not buy the official story that Europe has been Christian for 2000 years.

On traditions

The oldest traditional clothing in the Alpine region is the so called 'Bregenzerwälder Juppe'. It is worn by women of the region of Vorarlberg, a county of Austria. It goes back to the 15th century and has not changed ever since.

Unmarried girls wear a 'Schappale', an artful head garment, handmade by only a couple of artisans.

The headwear and dress often are worn lifelong on special occasions and then given to the next generation.

🏠Air gets trapped between snowflakes as they land creating insultation
🧊Heat from the animals below gets trapped forming an igloo effect
📐It takes about 6" of snow to create a sturdy roof for their homes

Ornithomancy is divination by watching the flight and listening to the song of birds. There were a few words in OE used to describe this, suggesting it was practised in heathen England. A fugelhwata was a bird-diviner whilst a fugelweohlære was a bird-soothsayer. Wigule fugeles were ‘divinatory birds’.

Artwork Title: Grandmother of The Scots

Medium: Oil-on-digital

Time: +- 20 hours

Theme: Scottish folklore

Upon the Lochs and Lands of Scotland there is perhaps no more notable a God than Cailleach Beira. It is she who crafted the land of Scotland itself and is Mother of the many Gods and Giants who call this land home. So ancient is she that she has long lost count to the winters and years she has been here, though by her own word she has seen when land was water and water was land. Some of this shifting however was no doubt crafted by her hand during her creation of the Scottish landscape, though she herself may have forgot due to time.

Hyperborean Radio.

I was commissioned to paint this bewitching display of Scottish myth & folklore. Cailleach Beira, a rather important figure to the Gaels, become the subject of much concentration and attention to detail as I did my best to portray her accordingly, shedding light on the many elements which make up the many qualities of her being.

I drew inspiration from vintage photographs (mostly from the 1880s) of rural ladies of Scotland (in the fields) - specifically elderly - to get an idea of how Beira, Queen of Winter, would appear as an "old woman" or "hag" (without giving it away too much) within a Scottish setting. The project itself was a lot of fun because I really want to hone my skills of painting the Gods, folklore, legends, heroes, etc., and with each one, I get better.

Now. of course, being Scotland, I chose a stormy or brooding atmosphere 😆 (I couldn't help myself) overshadowing the Scottish coastline. Though, it does create an interesting contrast between the light and dark tones, thus creating the required depth. A Scottish wild cat, loyal to Beira, I thought would be appropriate because most people often depict her with an owl or stag, but they do not really scream Scottish, whereas a Scottish wild cat does.

Anyway, thank you for your patience; I hope I delivered a high-quality painting of Beira. You can purchase a copy of the painting here.

You can also read more about Beira here. 😁

Thank you for all your support. More paintings to come!

I noticed that when a Native American couple, or a Hindu couple celebrate their wedding according to the old ways of their ancestors they don’t call it Native American pagan wedding, or Hindu pagan wedding, they call it Native American indigenous wedding, or Hindu ethnic wedding. However when ethnic European couples does their wedding according to their ethnic indigenous pre-Christian tradition, they call it a pagan wedding. I guess the world just doesn’t want ethnic Europeans to have an indigenous, ethnic ancestral past, only the Christian past. I find that to be very destructive. Other ethnicities don’t call their ethnic indigenous past as “pagan”. Myself I do use the word “pagan”. However, when I’m talking about European pagan anything, I try to emphasize that European pagan is European ethnic/indigenous, because the word “pagan” is so distorted today. For example, many today see the word pagan as meaning same as Wicca, and do not understand the difference between the historical pre-Christian ethnic pagan/indigenous, and modern Wiccan universalist pagan

One who manages to defeat a witch becomes a herbalist. Belief is such initiation of sorts highlights the difference between a witch/witcher and a herbalist. The latter is a healer who helps maintain natural order, while a witch distorts said order to manipulate the world. However, it’s worth noting that one could be both a herbalist and a witch and use different forms of magic when needed.

When a taught witch steals your cow’s milk you can challenge her by pouring said cow’s milk into a frying pan and lighting a fire under it. While doing so you have to chant certain spells herbalists know. If the milk from the same cow is still inside the witch she will get a fever and come to you asking to lend her something. You have to completely ignore her pleas and pretend she’s not there. If you manage that the witch will grow weak and swear to do whatever you want.

Witch-fighting in Polisia

One challenging a witch has to follow certain rules which come down to not focusing on the witch. You mustn’t look them in the eyes or listen to their voice so that the witch won’t be able to use their powers and charm you with either words or stare. If a witch does manage to grab your attention you have already lost and are completely at their mercy. Worst case scenario the witch will steal your soul, but may just turn you into a pig or some other animal until sunrise.

Taught and inborn witches

In Slavic folklore there’s two types of witches/witchers. The strongest are the inborn ones i.e. those who have powers from birth. They can control weather, charm people and command spirits. The taught witches are those who receive powers, usually (but not necessarily) from the inborn ones through studies and performance of various rituals.

Folk Herbalism vs corporate pharmaceuticals:

Modern medicine is really good at concentrating & making chemical compounds to quickly neutralize symptoms. Fever . take 3 Tylenol etc. What modern medicine does not do well is preventative medicine and curing the root cause of illnesses.

Several years ago there was an exposé between wall street investors and big pharma / health insurance agencies who had meetings around, "is curing patients a sustainable business model?" The goal of these companies is to make as much money as possible. To do that, sell you as much medication as possible. To do that is not to cure you, but to keep you sick while making you feel better.

Folk Herbalism by contrast is about supplementing your diet with preventative vitamins & minerals. It is about living a good lifestyle. In short, with proper living and diet, the need for modern heavily-concentrated artificially-synthesized medications is rendered moot. This is the main reason why home gardens and homesteading is under attack.

Jenny Nyström (born June 13 or June 15, 1854 in Kalmar, Sweden; died January 17, 1946 in Stockholm) was a painter and illustrator who is mainly known as the person who created the Swedish image of the jultomte on numerous Christmas cards and magazine covers, thus linking the Swedish version of Santa Claus to the gnomes of Scandinavian folklore.

Her father was a school teacher and piano teacher, and also the cantor of the Kalmar Castle Church. When Jenny Nyström was eight years old, the family moved to Gothenburg, where her father had found a better paying teaching job.

In 1865 she started in the Gothenburg art school Göteborgs Musei-, Rit- och Målarskola, today known as Konsthögskolan Valand, and in 1873 she was admitted to the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts in Stockholm, where she studied for eight years. Thanks to a scholarship, this was followed by studies in Paris 1882-1886, at Académie Colarossi and Académie Julian.

Life shouldn't be defined by what you hate.
It should be defined by what you love.
There are a lot of people defining their faith, philosophies, politics, and sadly activities by their hate.
Instead, even your hate should be defined by that which threatens what you love.

Sometimes, it is good to refocus on what it is you love, what you are protecting, why it is worth protecting, enjoying that which you love, and having compassion for sentient beings.

This isn't saying stop struggling and take a blue pill.
But to not be defined by negativity. Master the struggle, don't let it master you.

An Ancient King’s Curse

In the heart of Tallinn you’ll find Toompea Hill, historically the seat of power in Estonia. It’s also thought to be the burial place of Kalev, the heroic giant that lies sleeping beneath the hill (much like our own Arthur). He features on the main Estonian chocolate brand packaging as pictured.

In the late 19th century, the Russians began to build the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral on Toompea as part of their policy of Russification. A symbolic power-flex over the Estonians.

It was said that during construction, Russian builders came across an iron door while digging the foundations for the cathedral. The door was inscribed:
“Damned be everyone who dares disturb my peace”

The superstitious Russians were worried, but were forced to complete the project. Yet the church became plagued with structural problems and total collapse has often been a worry. Even to this day, scaffolding is a very common sight.

So what’s to blame? Shoddy Russian workmanship or an ancient Hero’s curse?

Morana - Freezing deadly ...
Marzanna (in Polish), Marena (in Russian), Morana (in Czech, Bulgarian, Slovene, and Serbo-Croatian) is a Slavic goddess associated with seasonal rites based on the idea of death and rebirth of nature. She is an ancient goddess associated with winter's death and rebirth and dreams. Marzanna's later association with death (in some regions Marzanna is called Death Crone) trivialized the importance of the goddess, who was the lady of not only death, but also life, and commanded the natural world.

After all, the official sources do say that most likely Tolkien did base his character wizard Radagast on the Slavic god Radegast.

The depiction of Slavic god Radegast with a bird on his head symbolizes something, but I’m not yet sure as to what it symbolizes.

In Tolkien’s works wizard “Radagast” is a server of Yavanna who is like an earth goddess in Tolkien’s mythology.

THE OLD WAYS

03 Nov, 16:06

In Peter Jackson’s films, the wizard character “Radagast” is portrayed very goofy looking, and has birds living on top of his head, and crapping on his hair, which is dripping down the side of his face.

The birds living on his head, and pooping on his hair is not found in Tolkien’s books. People claim that Peter Jackson used his version of character “Radagast” primarily for comic relief, and this is the reason behind birds on top of this wizard’s head, but I wonder if there is another reason for this character-defining feature.

I believe it’s possible that there may be a connection between Peter Jackson’s portrayal of Tolkien’s wizard “Radagast” and some of the older depictions of the Slavic god Radegast, or Radogost who is depicted with a bird on top of his head.

Stanislav Rolínek, a self-taught sculptor, chose a sandstone cave in Kunštát to create his works of art. An equestrian statue of Saint Wenceslas, along with 16 knights, can be found in the cave.

The famous Czech legend of the Knights of Blanik tells of an army of knights sleeping in a cave in Blanik. It states that they will awake only when their country is in serious danger and in need of rescue.

The legend of the Knights of Blanik is written in a book of Czech legends by Alois Jirásek. Although Jirásek’s work dates to 1894, it is believed the legend emerged in the 15th century and was probably invented by the ordinary folks living in the area.

I’ve been following her work for a few years now. I follow her work because I think she does very good research on the old-world religions. I don’t agree with a lot of her interpretations and perceptions.

I especially don’t share her spiritual views on things like the world of matter/physical world, including of course the physical body.

I can’t go along with anyone who subscribes to the kind of spirituality that calls the world of matter/physical reality as being part of the “lower worlds” from which humans should strive to break free in order to ascend up to the higher levels.

I may not see eye to eye with her on all things, her work is still of value to me, because I can learn a lot from her research

If we look from a bigger picture perspective here we see millions of people living in these modern urban areas, and none of them produce food for themselves. How can the rulers of modern world not see just how dangerous and fragile this is? Millions all huddled up together, none of them produce food for themselves, all of them are not self-sufficient. Any small changes that can disrupt the food supply and delivery will cause massive chaos.

I don’t want to seem anti-civilization, but to me personally this kind of extreme urbanization just feels wrong, like a wrong way to build civilization. Where are the green hills and valleys? Where the forests? It feels anti-nature. It feels like a disease spreading across the earth killing off every organic living green thing, and replacing it with concrete jungles.

According to old Finnish tradition, the rowan (Sorbus aucuparia) will not bear two heavy loads, meaning that an abundance of rowanberries will not be followed by an abundance of snow.

Kreuzenstein Castle 🏰 🇦🇹

This magnificent castle dates back to the 12th century. It was constructed by the counts of Formbach.
Unfortunately, the castle had fallen into disrepair and was then demolished during the Thirty Years' War. Intended to be a family vault for the Wilczek family, it was rebuilt in the 19th century by Count Nepomuk Wilczek with money from the family's large Silesian coal mines.

I find these natural/organic pools to be gorgeous. So much better looking than conventional pools. Organic pools are more like natural ponds that creates their own ecosystem.

While most people are struggling to write music in one direction, this guy could casually compose in four at the same time.

Though Bach is known for his masterful compositions, many people do not know that he was also deaf, so the sheer scope of his brilliance lies far beyond the limits of human comprehension.

A lot of songwriters struggle to produce an album every 2 years, yet the insane volume of compositions Bach created is mind bending, not to mention the quality and complexity

When you listen to what these guys made 300 years ago and consider what they were working with (no computer program to run their ideas in the different orchestral voicings), the word “genius” becomes insufficient.

Despite some of its historic architecture being rooted in hardship, #Edinburgh is a perfect example of how stunning European cities could be if preserved properly. Edinburgh remains photogenic because of modernisms absence.

There's absolutely no denying that historic architecture built for accommodation, battle, or worship is still far superior in class, quality, and presentation than that of contemporary architecture.
