The Nile valley, a cradle of civilization, witnessed the rise and fall of the ancient Nubian kingdoms that left behind a remarkable legacy of pyramidal architecture.

Drawing from the Egyptian traditions, the Nubian rulers erected monumental tombs to honor their royal ancestors and assert their power and prestige.

One of the most impressive examples of this cultural heritage is the Great Pyramid N6, belonging to Queen Amanishakheto, who ruled over the kingdom of Meroë in the 1st century BCE.

Her pyramid, along with many others, was brutally vandalized by Giuseppe Ferlini, an Italian adventurer who plundered the site in search of gold and jewels in the 1830s.

His reckless actions caused irreparable damage to the historical and artistic value of these ancient structures.

In the center of Yekaterinburg, next to the Demidov cafe-museum, there are massive cast-iron slabs dedicated to the city. The slabs were cast at the Kasli iron foundry Demidov plant.

The photo shows a slab made from a 1707 map with the designation of Tartary written in Russian. But official historians assure us that the Russian version of Tartaria is certainly Tataria. But at the Demidov plant they apparently didn’t know about this at that time, so they wrote it as it really was.
