Funchal is shaking up the nightlife scene! 🌙🍹

New regulations are on the way, and starting soon, only licensed nightclubs will be able to keep the party going until 6 AM.

For all other venues, the doors will close by 2 AM, and even that will be a rare exception! ⏰

The rules from 2015 are getting a major update, with different hours based on the type of business and location. Stay tuned for more details as Funchal redefines its nightlife!

🚨 Fire in Ribeira Brava—Still Uncontrolled!

🔥 A forest fire, detected yesterday in Ribeira Brava at the Furna site, continues to rage. Firefighter teams from two corporations have been working tirelessly, some monitoring the area throughout the night.

👩‍🚒 The Volunteer Firefighters of Ribeira Brava and Ponta do Sol, along with the Madeiran Volunteer Firefighters, are heading back to battle the flames. Civil Protection's helicopter may be deployed if the situation demands.

Madeirans will still need to pay full price for trips to the mainland! ✈️

💡 A new model for the social mobility subsidy is in place, but residents of Madeira must continue to cover the cost of traveling between Madeira, mainland Portugal, and the Azores.

🚀 The only real change for now? The refund process will become digital, simplifying things. No more dealing with CTT and its paperwork! The Regional Government, represented by Eduardo Jesus, hasn’t given up on ensuring that Madeirans pay just €86 for a round trip, though this has been promised for years. 🙌

🏅 Speaking at the tourism merit awards, the regional tourism secretary highlighted the aim of reducing bureaucracy. The goal is to make life easier by utilizing tech for the refund process and eliminating paperwork. This tech solution has long been proposed by Madeira to the national government. 💻

🔍 The working group reviewing the social mobility subsidy hasn’t finished yet, and there’s hope for more resident-friendly procedures in the future! 💪

🚨 Tragic Discovery on Vigário Beach 🚨

Yesterday, the body of a man in his 40s was found on Praia do Vigário in Câmara de Lobos. The Judicial Police (PJ) are currently investigating the cause of death, which remains unclear. 🌊

Missing since Saturday, a report had been filed with Public Security on Sunday. The man’s body was discovered by a diver at a depth of 5 meters. Authorities quickly responded, and forensic divers were called in to recover the body. 🕵️‍♂️⚖️

The remains were later transported to Pier 8 in Funchal as investigations continue.

This morning, a large landslide was recorded in the Banda de Além area, close to Madalena do Mar beach. The situation is being carefully monitored by the Civil Protection Service of the Ponta do Sol Municipal Council. 👷‍♂️🛠️

🔍 Investigation Launched into PSD-Madeira's 2023 Election Campaign Funding 🗳️

The financing of PSD-Madeira's campaign for the 2023 regional elections is currently under the microscope by the PJ (Judiciary Police). Today, a large-scale operation is underway in Madeira as part of this investigation.

🚨 Accident in Ribeira Brava: 3 Injured in Head-On Collision 🚑

Another accident has caused trouble for travelers in Madeira. This time, a head-on collision occurred this afternoon in the tunnel linking Ribeira Brava to Tabua, resulting in three injuries and severe damage to the vehicles involved.

👩‍🦰 A woman and a teenager, who were in the same car, were among the injured, along with the driver of the other vehicle. All three were taken to the hospital for treatment.

🚒 The Mixed Firefighters of Ribeira Brava and Ponta do Sol, as well as the Volunteer Firefighters from Câmara de Lobos and Calheta, quickly arrived at the scene to provide assistance.

⛽ Fuel Prices Drop Again in Madeira! 🚗💨

Good news for drivers in Madeira! Starting next Monday, fuel prices will drop once more, as announced by the Government’s recent order published on Thursday. 📉

🔻 The price of 95 petrol will be capped at 1.503 euros per liter, a decrease of 3.6 cents. Meanwhile, simple diesel will not exceed 1.255 euros per liter, a reduction of 1.9 cents. 💶

Currently, 95 octane petrol costs 1.539 euros per liter, and regular diesel is priced at 1.274 euros. Despite the Regional Government beginning to roll back some of the tax benefits on fuel, prices continue to fall, offering some relief at the pump for Madeira residents. 🚘

In a statement to TSF-Madeira, Pereira highlighted the council’s ongoing efforts to combat illegal parking. "Initially, we supported the Public Security Police (PSP) with our resources to help control the situation, and we will continue this support as needed," he stated. 🚓 The council also relies on towing services to remove vehicles blocking the flow of traffic. 🚧 "We cannot tolerate illegal parking," he emphasized, adding that stricter measures might be enforced if the problem continues. 🛑

📈 Landlords Can Increase Rents by 2.16% in 2025 🏢

Landlords will be able to raise rents by up to 2.16% in 2025, according to the latest inflation figures for August, confirmed today by the National Statistics Institute (INE). 📊

INE data, which confirms the preliminary estimates released on August 30th, shows that over the past 12 months (excluding housing costs), the average variation in the price index was 2.16%. This percentage serves as the basis for the coefficient used in the annual rent update under the New Urban Lease Regime (NRAU). 🏠

🗓️ The final values for rent updates must be published in the Official Gazette by October 30th. After that, landlords can notify tenants of the rent increase. However, the increase can only take effect 30 days after this notice is given. 📬

This year’s rate, which will apply to 2025, represents a significant slowdown compared to last year’s increase of 6.94%. 📉

For 2024, the previous government chose not to impose a cap on rent increases, as it did in 2023. Instead, it approved measures aimed at boosting support for tenants. 🏘️

Major Accident in Madalena do Mar Tunnel: Two Injured 🚑

A dramatic accident in the Madalena do Mar tunnel today left two people injured. One of the vehicles flipped over inside the tunnel, but fortunately, the injuries appear to be minor. 🚒 The Mixed Fire Brigade of Ribeira Brava and Ponta do Sol quickly responded, dispatching 9 firefighters, 2 emergency ambulances, and extrication vehicles to the scene. They were soon joined by EMIR teams to provide additional support. 🚑

🚨 One of the victims is currently trapped in the vehicle. However, the latest reports indicate that it’s a case of mechanical entrapment — the person is stuck due to the vehicle's damage and not because of severe physical injuries. The rescue teams are working swiftly to ensure the individual’s safety. 🛠️

FLIGHT DIVERTED DUE TO WIND AT MADEIRA AIRPORT

The easyJet flight from Berlin, which was supposed to land at Madeira Cristiano Ronaldo International Airport at 11:10 am today, was diverted to Porto Santo Airport due to the wind in Santa Cruz.
