🚨 PSP to Act on Illegal Parking in Funchal’s Avenida Arriaga 🚔
Parking abuses in the bus lane on Avenida Arriaga in Funchal have become a frequent issue, leading to significant traffic disruptions, especially during peak hours. 🚗💥 Bruno Pereira, the vice-president of Funchal City Council, acknowledges the gravity of the situation and confirms that the Public Security Police (PSP) will take action whenever needed to manage the problem. 🚦
In a statement to TSF-Madeira, Pereira highlighted the council’s ongoing efforts to combat illegal parking. "Initially, we supported the Public Security Police (PSP) with our resources to help control the situation, and we will continue this support as needed," he stated. 🚓 The council also relies on towing services to remove vehicles blocking the flow of traffic. 🚧 "We cannot tolerate illegal parking," he emphasized, adding that stricter measures might be enforced if the problem continues. 🛑
"If educational measures don’t work, we’ll have to resort to stricter actions like fines and towing. Our goal is to improve traffic flow and the quality of life for everyone in Funchal," he warned. 🏙️
The impact of these parking violations has been particularly hard on public transport, which is crucial for city mobility. "These two lanes are vital for the smooth flow of traffic in Funchal due to the high volume of public transport that is essential for the city," Pereira added. 🚌
