🇺🇦🇭🇺The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Ukraine would be ready to take Hungary’s place in the EU and the NATO if Hungary decided to leave and join the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) or the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).

This statement came in response to accusations by Hungary’s Foreign Minister, who claimed that Ukraine had allegedly put the European Union in a difficult economic position by halting the transit of Russian gas.

The ministry emphasized that Russia has always been the sole cause of energy market problems in Europe, using energy as a weapon for decades. Hungary’s statements about the gas transit halt were described as “part of a politically motivated information campaign for domestic consumption.”

The U.S. President-elect made this statement during a press conference, also saying he “can understand” Russia’s reluctance to see Ukraine join NATO. He criticized President Joe Biden for offering Ukraine the possibility of membership.

Trump claimed he is aware of Russian leader Vladimir Putin’s willingness to engage in dialogue with him and did not rule out contact after his inauguration on January 20.

🇩🇪 In Germany, a couple has confessed to the murder of two Ukrainian women and the abduction of a baby.

In the spring of 2024, the suspects killed 51-year-old Ukrainian refugee Maryna Stetsenko and her 27-year-old daughter Margarita to kidnap her infant. Investigators believe the couple wanted to have a child of their own.

The suspects specifically targeted Margarita through a Telegram chat for Ukrainian refugees. During a dinner at a restaurant on March 6, 2024, they drugged both women with sedatives. When the victims became unwell, they were struck on the head and killed. Maryna’s body was dumped in a lake, while Margarita’s body was burned. The infant was abducted.

The baby was found unharmed on March 15 and now lives with her aunt in Ukraine. A verdict in the case could be announced as early as February, with the defense lawyer seeking a life sentence.

Another anti-Ukrainian government in the EU?

Austrian Chancellor and leader of the conservative Austrian People’s Party (ÖVP), Karl Nehammer, is stepping down after failed coalition talks with the Social Democrats (SPÖ).

The new ÖVP leader, Christian Stocker, has expressed readiness to form a coalition with the far-right, pro-Russian Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ), which secured first place in the September elections.

If FPÖ forms the government, Europe could face another pro-Russian power center alongside Hungary and Slovakia, likely obstructing support for Ukraine and its EU integration.

Early elections remain a possibility, but forecasts suggest FPÖ could gain even more support, which would be an even worse scenario for Ukraine.

The EU Court has denied Ukraine’s request to register the trademark “Russian warship, go f*ck yourself.”

Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service attempted to register this trademark in 2022 for a wide range of goods and services. However, the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) rejected the registration in 2023, a decision now upheld by the European Court.

The court explained that the phrase has become a well-known political slogan and a symbol of Ukraine’s resistance against Russian aggression. It has been used primarily in a political rather than a commercial context. In the court’s view, the phrase cannot serve the primary function of a trademark, as consumers would perceive it as a political message rather than an indication of the origin of goods or services.

In Sevastopol, the head of the missile ship headquarters of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet, Valery Trankovsky, was eliminated

Today’s explosion of the car belonging to the head of the 41st Brigade of Missile Ships and Boats of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, Valery Trankovsky, was a successful special operation by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). As a result of the explosion, the Russian captain lost his legs and died from blood loss.

Trankovsky was a war criminal who issued orders to launch cruise missiles from the Black Sea targeting civilian sites in Ukraine. Notably, he was responsible for the “Kalibr” missile strike on Vinnytsia in July 2022, which killed 29 civilians. He also repeatedly targeted Odesa and other peaceful cities, causing numerous civilian casualties. According to the laws and customs of war, he was an entirely lawful target.
