Our non-Catholic brothers and sisters claim that the Ave Maria Prayer (Hail Mary) has no Biblical basis. This is false. The first part of the prayer is made up of two parts. Both parts are found in the Bible and both were uttered by saints. The first part was said by St. Gabriel the Archangel. He told Mary, “Hail, favored one! The Lord is with you.” (Luke 1:28). The second part was said by St. Elizabeth. She told Mary, “Most blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb.” (Luke 1:42). So, the Hail Mary is truly Biblical.
