To develop language skills in children, it is necessary to “use” the language. However, when there is no environment and all your conversations revolve around life in the apartment, the child reaches a dead end and doesn’t progress.

Of course, cartoons compensate for a lot, but this doesn’t always work, so it’s essential to constantly improvise and come up with various games, or rather, simply Arabize already familiar games.

As you know, I’ve been thinking about spreading this “idea” to the masses for a long time, because I am convinced that even if parents have a weak level of the language, they can still get involved in this process. However, my problem is that I’m currently occupied with other projects, but perhaps at the beginning of the year, I’ll find the energy for this project.

In general, for now, I’m just sharing a random game for today.

In the Arabic language, there is an interesting phenomenon where a verb can be derived from a noun, applying to both inanimate objects and animals.

Examples with animals:

أسَدٌ - اسْتَأْسَدَ
Lion - “to lionize,” to become fierce or brave like a lion

كَلْبٌ - تَكالَبَ
Dog - to attack in a pack

نَسْرٌ - اسْتَنْسَرَ
Eagle - to act like an eagle

نَمِرٌ - تَنَمَّرَ
Tiger - to get angry or aggressive

ثَعْلَبٌ - تَثَعْلَبَ
Fox - to act cunningly

Interestingly, this phenomenon exists in Russian too, for example: bikovat (“to act like a bull”).

Do we have something similar in English from animal names? Please give me examples.

One of the most powerful tools for language development is writing.

While I was in Egypt in 2016, I started writing various texts in Arabic and posting them on Facebook.

At that time, my background included two years of studying in evening courses and five months of studying in Egypt. I was at level 10 (mustawa).

Here’s one of those texts:

By the way, there are mistakes in it—who can find and correct them in the comments?

This is a part of homework for my students after 2 months of studying:

I usually go to sleep early on my day off and wake up early. I sleep 8 hours. I wake up for Fajr prayer, then I go to the park and sit on a bench there and read 2 hours approximately. After that, I sometimes go to my friends, or return home. After the Zuhr prayer, I sit down at the computer and work for about 3 hours. I am writing a book about the Prophet's family in English.

This is one of my teachers library📚 he has collected these books during 20 years.

12 years ago when I was studying alphabet he said me:

“Start collecting your maktaba right now even if you don’t understand, every month buy 4-5 books, and one day, after 3-4 years of studying, when you will understand Arabic you will already have a lot of books”.

Now I can add to this advice that seeing books in Arabic in your room motivate you to learn Arabic in order to understand these books.

This is my very first video in Arabic from 2017 when I was about going back to my hometown from Egypt.

That time I thought: how can I save my language in Chechnya where is no arabs to speak with…

My answer was like: I must create a channel on YouTube and start making videos in Arabic for arabs.

The first video was:
“The Muslims of Russia”

I named my second son Zayd because all examples in Arabic grammar books are with Zayd, so I wish he will enjoy studying them.

But unfortunately all examples in our home are:

ضرب محمد زيدا 🤕

Now he is 4 years young Arabic speaker, so when my haters write in youtube comments: “no one speaks Fusha in daily life” I respond by “at least I know one who speaks”. 😅

الحمد لله. بارك الله فيهم وفي جميع أطفال المسلمين.

The experiment on raising bilinguals continues. Here's a random dialogue in the car.

I'm making a lot of observations, there are actually quite difficult stages ahead, since the language is not yet fully developed and it can roll back at any moment, and add to this the fact that they are now taught Russian in kindergarten, then the challenge is very serious.

Be that as it may, this is a rather interesting experiment, because I am the only person in their life who teaches them Arabic. I ask Allah taufiq.

The participants of the dialogue are 4 and 5 years old.

Perhaps one day I will start a channel about teaching kids Arabic, but for now just listen.

Just saw how my 5 years son was making dua and saying in Arabic:

الله! أحبك! الله أعطِني سيارات كثيرة، أحبك يا الله، اشترِ لي سيارات كثيرة.

Allah, I love you, Allah give me a lot of cars, I love you, buy me a lot of cars.
—————————————
Yes, by mercy of Allah I could teach my kids to speak Arabic as a second language since they was 2-3 years old, so they talk to me usually in Arabic. How I did it? Just as we teach them our mother tongue, by speaking. There is not any secret.

I ask Allah to make our children good Muslims.
