"And (He also forgave) the three who were left behind, until the earth, with all its vastness, seemed constricted to them..."
Ka’b said: When I greeted the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, his face was shining with joy, and he said: “Rejoice in the best day you have experienced since your mother gave birth to you!” I asked, “Is this from you, O Messenger of Allah, or from Allah?” He replied: “No, rather it is from Allah.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, whenever he was delighted, his face would light up as if it were a piece of the moon.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ announced Allah’s acceptance of our repentance after he had prayed Fajr. People came rushing to give us the glad tidings. They went to my two companions to give them the news, and a man came to me on horseback, while another from the tribe of Aslam came running and climbed to the top of the mountain. The voice of the one calling out (the news) reached me faster than the horse. When the one whose voice I heard arrived, bringing me the good news, I took off my two garments and gave them to him in gratitude for his glad tidings. By Allah, I owned no other garments at the time. So, I borrowed two garments and wore them, then headed to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Along the way, groups of people met me, congratulating me on Allah’s acceptance of my repentance, saying: “Congratulations on Allah’s repentance upon you!”
When I entered the mosque, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was sitting there among the people. Talhah ibn Ubaydullah got up and came running toward me until he shook my hand and congratulated me. By Allah, no one from among the Muhajirun stood up to greet me except him. (Ka’b added: He never forgot this kind gesture of Talhah.)
