📊 III Tashkent Business and Economics Conference (TBEC)

On November 21, 2024, Westminster International University in Tashkent successfully hosted the III Tashkent Business and Economics Conference (TBEC), a prestigious event that brought together scholars, industry leaders, and practitioners from around the globe to discuss pressing issues in economics, finance, and business.

The conference featured 33 speakers from 13 countries, including experts from Belarus, Kazakhstan, India, Pakistan, Cyprus, Malaysia, UAE, Japan, Indonesia, and Italy. Among the distinguished participants was Marco Vivarelli, Full Professor of Economics at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Milano, and Director of the Department of Economic Policy.

🔥 ALUMNI REUNION 2024 - A Memorable Celebration!

WIUT hosted a fantastic Alumni Reunion 2024, held as part of the Graduation Week 2024 celebrations. This special event brought graduates together for an unforgettable evening of nostalgia, celebration, and connection!

The event, centered around the theme English Classics, placed its main focus on celebrating the 15th anniversary of the Class of 2009. Alumni from various graduating classes joined to reminisce about their university days, share their journey since graduation, and honor this milestone achievement for the 2009 graduates.

It was an incredible opportunity for everyone to reconnect, engage in meaningful conversations, and strengthen the bonds that unite us as members of the WIUT community. A heartfelt thank you to all who attended and made this reunion a truly special occasion!

🎨 Mastery and Inspiration: Art & Photography Exhibition 📸

WIUT Culture and Creativity Centre proudly hosted the «Mastery and Inspiration» Exhibition of Art & Photography at the Gallery of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan. This spectacular event brought together creativity, innovation, and artistry in a celebration of talent and inspiration!

As the first event of the Graduation Week 2024 celebrations, the exhibition featured stunning creative works by WIUT students, alongside exceptional pieces by members of the Academy of Arts. It also included a captivating fashion show, presenting innovative designs by students of the Republican Design School.

The event was a vibrant celebration of art, culture, and collaboration, reminding us of the boundless potential of creativity!

Meet WIUT’s Graduates of the Class of 2024 #3 🎓

We proudly introduce Samandar Bobokhonov, a 2024 graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Commercial Law, whose journey reflects outstanding academic achievements, creativity, and professional growth! 🌟

Samandar’s dedication to excellence was evident throughout his time at WIUT. He completed CIFS with distinction and earned a Certificate of Achievement for Academic Excellence at Level 4, scoring 70+ in all modules. He graduated with First Class Honours, solidifying his academic prowess.

Beyond academics, Samandar made a significant impact on WIUT’s community. He mentored and facilitated students, participated twice in Model United Nations (MUN) – winning the Best Speaker Award on one occasion – and served as an Advisor for the Students’ Union, contributing to Infocom and West TV. His vibrant student life included volunteering at events like the Zakovat Final, Red Bull Dance Final, and Jony Amirsoy’s concert and being an active member of WIUT Unite.

Samandar also gained invaluable experience in his career, interning at the Oliy Majlis Legislative Chamber and Kosta Legal, and working as an SMM manager. Currently, he has been making strides in his legal career, working for over 1.5 years at Settle Law Firm, where his passion and dedication continue to shine.

Samandar’s journey showcases the exceptional opportunities and support available to WIUT students, and we can’t wait to see the heights he’ll reach in his career!

Welcome to WIUT, Ulugbek Rashitov! 🎉

We were honoured to host a special guest lecture with the two-time Olympic Taekwondo Champion, Ulugbek Rashitov – the star of the Uzbekistan national team and champion of the Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympics! 🥇🥋

Throughout his visit, Ulugbek shared his incredible journey, resilience, and the mindset that propelled him to Olympic victories. His stories inspired our students to pursue excellence, push their limits, and never give up on their dreams.

Westminster International University in Tashkent achieved 2nd place in the Ziyo Cup eSports tournament in the Dota 2 discipline, competing against nearly 400 students from Tashkent and the Tashkent region 🎮

Organised by the International Foundation for the Development of Science and Education (Ziyo Forum), this tournament, held from 5th to 7th November at the Cyber Arena, aimed to engage young people in competitive gaming and foster the growth of eSports in Uzbekistan. Participants from 50 state and non-state universities vied for a prize pool of 22.5 million UZS.

The Ziyo Cup reflects Uzbekistan's commitment to nurturing talent in eSports and IT, aligning with the Presidential Decree issued in November 2022, which promotes a safe and supportive ecosystem for eSports. WIUT is honoured to contribute to this exciting landscape and congratulates its students on their impressive achievement in this national competition.

Transnational Education at the Centre of Discussions at the Deep Dialogues Event Organised by the British Council in Manchester, UK 🌐

The British Council's Deep Dialogues event on "Transnational Education: A deeper insight into TNE regulatory and policy environment", an initiative under the British Council's Going Global Partnerships, is taking place this week in Manchester, UK.

Conceptualised as global conversations, Deep Dialogues is an event series that brings together higher education practitioners, leaders and experts from across the world to enable focused discussion around key thematic areas that influence higher and further education worldwide.

The target audience for Deep Dialogues includes policymakers and regulators, heads of apex bodies and regulatory bodies, and higher education institution leaders.

This year, WIUT was represented at the Deep Dialogues event by its Rector, Dr. Komiljon Karimov, who was invited as a keynote speaker. In his keynote, Dr. Karimov shared insights on Uzbekistan's higher education reforms and WIUT's experience in advancing transnational education (TNE) within Uzbekistan and beyond.

The event also features panels on the liberalisation of higher education and its impact on TNE, relevance and education quality, as well as a session dedicated to enhancing inclusivity and outcomes in TNE.
