Clint Eastwood's great great grandfather was James McClanahan who served as a private in Captain D. H. McIntyre's Company C of Williams' Regiment Missouri Cavalry, C.S.A. He enlisted in April 1863, but was captured and paroled at St. Joseph, Missouri, on August 16, 1863.

"If we were wrong in our contest, then the Declaration of Independence of 1776 was a grave mistake, and the revolution to which it led was a crime. If Washington was a patriot, Lee cannot have been a rebel." Lt. General Wade Hampton, CSA

Shoutout to our Guradians of the Flag, who changed out the rope and flag today at our I-64 Kershaw’s Brigade Roadside Memorial Battle Flag at Savages Station! Keeping an eye on the ropes, and replacing them at the first sign of wear is crucial to prevent costly repairs down the road. Without our volunteer guardians of the flags, and financial support from folks like you, we could not keep up the 30+ roadside memorial battle flag sites across the Commonwealth, and continue to build new ones. God bless you all and GOD SAVE THE SOUTH!

β€œJust here I have an indescribable peace. All is peace within. I want you to know that between me...and the face of my Heavenly Father, not a cloud intervenes. I have put my trust in my Lord and Saviour.

Call my wife.”

Last words of Gen Nathan Bedford Forrest, who died on this day, October 29, 1877
