The midcap index is near its day low, while Nifty/Sensex managed to hold up due to the SENSEX expiry. Yesterday's selling in the Indian market was brutal, with an advance-decline ratio of 200 to 2400, including significant declines in midcap and smallcap indices.
The US market had a mixed session, with Nasdaq gaining 1%, while Dow gave up almost 300 points from its day high as the dollar index fell by 0.6%.
GIFT NIFTY is indicating a 100-point gap-up open. Based on yesterday's close and retail options data, it seems like the gap is a selling opportunity.
The index's next support level is at 23,200. If that is breached, a bigger correction may open up.
Shorting at the open today is likely to be profitable.

I’m going through a phase where I don’t have the guts to go long at these levels of 24,700, and the market is not showing much weakness either. This helped in a way to avoid getting trapped on the long side with FOMO. The OI buildup is significant on the call side, suggesting the upside is limited. Broader market participation is neither particularly strong nor weak, keeping the game balanced at the moment.
BANKEX and MIDCAP expiry suggest no significant movement for the rest of the day.
Today's NIFTY high of 24350 is a sacrosanct stop loss for all the shorts. If 24500 is taken out, then the correction may be over, and the market is likely to go higher towards its ATH.
In my assessment, nothing has changed in the last three days, and macros such as a strong dollar, bond yields, and FII buying will take center stage. Today's FII buying number should be positive; if it turns out to be a sell number, that is not good news.
I am not BULLISH at 24220.

People are becoming bullish like crazy. Was the MH election that important? Please, come on. And remember, the 550 points Nifty rise on Friday has something to do with this verdict. FIIs were selling at 23,500, so they will be even more aggressive at 24,200, right? Monday has such a bullish narrative set, especially by CNBC, that I doubt the morning rally will sustain. Retail investors will buy like crazy, and it will be a perfect trap. There's a high chance of "sell on news," and if we end the day flat or negative, I won't be surprised.
People are getting too excited. MH elections won't change earnings, and the sudden 500 points rise on Friday. The Mahayuti's victory of 170-180 seats was already priced in, and now with 230 seats, Monday might see a gap up in Nifty by 300 points, but buying at the open won't have any risk-reward.
Another thing, there was no buying in midcap and smallcap on Friday. Watching what happens in this space on Monday is important. If there's no buying participation here, that will be the first signal that the rally will fizzle out.

"This strangle is now trading below 10. Is it a failed trade? Many would say yes, but if you are a smart trader, you would have made a profit. The strangle went to 72 in the next 30 minutes; see the spike at 11:20.
That's almost a 25% gain on deployed capital.
If you expect to make a 50-100% gain on every trade, that attitude will not help.

The market is showing its real colors. If you bought yesterday in FOMO, it was a perfect trap for a long trade.
FIIs were selling anyway, and now the rising dollar will put pressure on emerging markets. Additionally, US bond yields have rallied 4%. If safe investments can give good returns, why would FIIs invest in India or other emerging markets? Furthermore, FIIs are moving towards China as the risk-reward ratio is very favorable for investing in the Chinese market.
NIFTY is down 270 points, and the entire upmove of previsous day has been negated today. Yesterday's low was 24,204; if the market closes below this level, we are very well into strong bearish mode and the last two-day rally has fizzled out.
Rising dollar works against GOLD, SILVER, CRUDE.

View went wrong, imporant observation - Market rallied 300+ points, but call appreciation is pathetic. ATM calls up just 100% indicates today's rise is short covering move due IT index. There is hardly any other sector participation.
Important to check cash numbers today, since move is only due to one sector will give benefit of doubt to Bears. Will see how market behaves around 24500.
I am not BUYING here; holding onto short and adding gradually too.
