Russian news agency TASS, reported that U.S. President Donald Trump threatened BRICS nations again with 150% tariffs.
This threat was allegedly made in response to BRICS countries exploring alternatives to the U.S. dollar for international trade. Trump stated he warned BRICS that any attempt to undermine the dollar would result in these tariffs. He suggested the countries were considering using the Chinese yuan.
The report concludes with Trump claiming that after his threats, he has not heard from the BRICS nations on the matter. Guess why?

Donald Trump's supporters are jubilant today over Panama's announcement that it will withdraw from China's Belt and Road Initiative. The decision to leave the BRI was part of a package of concessions offered by President José Raúl Mulino to ease U.S. concerns over China's presence in the Central American country, particularly along the canal zone.
For China, losing Panama from the BRI isn't exactly a major economic setback. The country's so small that it won't even be missed.
Politically, though, it's a very different story. The optics of a small country like Panama being forced to withdraw from the BRI is no doubt worrisome to policymakers in Beijing, who are rightfully looking at their member list and thinking, "Who will be next?"
There's no doubt Marco Rubio's success in Panama will prompt him to do the same with other BRI countries in the region, like the Dominican Republic, Honduras, and Ecuador, where the U.S. has a lot of economic and political leverage.
What's interesting about all of this is that it wasn't that long ago when U.S. diplomats constantly told their counterparts in developing countries that they didn't have to choose between the U.S. and China.
Well, if this weekend tells us anything about our new reality, those days are over.

After months of difficult negotiations and shuttle diplomacy led by Senegal, the confederation of Sahel states known as the AES is officially exiting the Economic Community of West African states, a bloc they have been part of since 1975. This technically takes effect today.
An official communique in agreement with the exit was issued by the bloc during its last summit in December 2024. However, the summit of Heads of State and Government gave a six-month window for exiting states to change their positions if they so wished.
While the threat to exit the bloc first emerged after the junta-led government came together to oppose a proposed military intervention by ECOWAS in Niger, subsequent de-escalation of the situation led to some negotiations that did not yield any tangible result.
The Republic of Togo has reportedly weighed the possibility of joining the AES in recent months. The new administration in Ghana has also appointed a "permanent" envoy for the Sahel.

🇪🇹⚡️Ethiopia plans to more than double electricity capacity to 13,000 MW by 2028, president Taye says
"Ethiopia processes […] a vast and largely untapped potential clean energy. Our energy policy embraces a thoughtful combination of hydroelectric geothermal and as well as wind power and also a solar power. It is a deliberate policy choice not to put everything in one basket. […] Our current installed capacity now surpass 6,000 MW and we are targeting 13,000 MW by 2028," Ethiopia's President Taye Atske-Selassie said on the sidelines of the Africa Energy Summit in Dar es Salaam.
The president also announced Ethiopia's regional initiative to connect with 14 countries through power grids.
While the Ethiopian government has achieved an overall electricity access rate of 54%, nearly half of the country's population, some 60 million citizens still lack access to electricity due to challenges that need to be addressed, the top official noted, stressing that with the support of international financial institutions and philanthropic organizations, the goal of making electricity more accessible in Ethiopia is feasible.

His carefully cultivated image of a progressive savior masked the reality: Trudeau wasn’t a leader, he was a salesman, hawking the globalist vision of a borderless, subservient Canada.
Even Trudeau’s inner circle couldn’t hold the line. Chrystia Freeland’s departure revealed the rot within his government. With Canada’s debt surging to $1.2 trillion CAD, Freeland, once his closest ally, jumped ship rather than go down with it. The President has approved a list of instructions following the AI Journey Conference
The Government was in particular instructed to:
🔹provide methodological support for implementing AI technologies in the domain of public administration at both federal and local level;
🔹submit proposals on expanding the use of AI technologies for providing additional training and advice of schoolchildren in general subjects;
🔹take steps aimed at hosting a strategic session/international foresight event in Russia that would focus on fundamental exploratory research with the purpose of further development of AI.
Additionally, the Government, in cooperation with Sberbank, is to ensure further cooperation with the PRC in conducting research and development in the domain of AI and to look into publishing an international journal on the development of AI technologies in Russia.
