🌍 "Africans no longer trust" Western democracy, a political scientist says

Democracy as Western countries teach it no longer interests Africans, Abdelhak Najib, a political scientist and writer, told Sputnik Africa, commenting on Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov's recent press conference.

Earlier, in his speech Lavrov stated that American-style democracy means "doing what they want."

According to Najib, this US approach is unsuitable for countries like Mali, Kenya, Senegal, or Morocco.

🗣 "We have our way of doing politics. We have our vision of social issues, political issues, financial issues, human issues. And we have no lessons to take from anyone," he added.

He argued that the word "democracy" is merely an "empty shell" representing a "form of disguised totalitarianism."

Najib also stated that the American vision of peace is biased, as Washington believes it "means going to war and escalating conflict in order to subjugate all."

Commenting on Lavrov's statement regarding the need for a permanent seat for African countries on the UN Security Council, the analyst emphasized that Africa has its right to speak, and especially its right to a place in the organization.

#Drobinin: Moscow supports the ideals of Pan-Africanism, embodied in the African Union. The AU serves as a platform for consolidating Africa’s voice on the global stage, it increasingly raises its voice in world politics on behalf of all Africans.

The scale of exploitation of Africa by the West is illustrated by the situation on the world coffee market. The Int'l Coffee Organization's turnover is $460 bln/year. Africa receives less than 10% of it. Germany alone earns more annually from coffee trade than all African states

Representatives of All-Russian Organization of Small and Medium Entrepreneurship New Formation and the representative held a meeting with the entrepreneur, analyst of the Center for African Studies of the Institute of International Studies of the MGIMO University I.Stakanov and the representative of the Kenyan Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Russia Boniface Ngunjiri.

They discussed promising areas of Russian-Kenyan cooperation in the field of agriculture, in particular issues of grain exports, fertilizers, coffee and tea imports from Russia, as well as financial and transport logistics. They touched upon possible projects in the oil and gas industry, namely the construction of gas storage tanks in Kenya and their maintenance.
They discussed the possibility of participation of NF member companies in the upcoming WCF Africa Summit to be held in April in Nairobi, organized by the Kenyan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

❓ Are the West and Ukraine trying to hinder the development of Moscow's contacts with African capitals?

📢 The West's countering our foreign policy in Africa is felt on a permanent basis. Their diplomats and representatives of the Kiev regime are conducting coordinated work in African capitals. This includes targeted political demarches in order to prevent the growth of Russia's influence, and a full-scale information campaign to discredit our efforts aimed at strengthening good, friendly and mutually beneficial economic relations. At the same time, all methods are used, even open blackmail of Africans. This applies to both bilateral relations and large-scale events at the highest level, such as the second Russia-Africa Summit in 2023.

Here is the most recent example. In November, the first Ministerial conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership forum was held in Sochi. This new dialogue format is intended to become a coordination mechanism for the implementation of the tasks set by the heads of state in St. Petersburg. The Westerners used all the levers of pressure they had on the African capitals so that as few delegations as possible would come and ultimately the event would fail. But their latest attempt to "isolate" Russia failed. Despite the work organized against us, the forum was attended by 54 official delegations of countries and regional integration associations, including more than 40 ministers.

In such a short period, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Deputy Mikhail Bogdanov held meetings with most of the heads of delegations. The main leitmotif laid down in the final documents, which is shared by Africans, is that Russian-African cooperation today is the driving force behind the formation of a fair multipolar world order free from dictates based on genuine equality of states and the supremacy of international law. As a result, the conference was very fruitful and received a lot of positive feedback from our partners.

🌍 The African Pole is Growing in Influence in a Multipolar World

Aleksey Drobinin, Director of the Foreign Policy Planning Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, published an article entitled "The African Pole of a Multipolar World." In his article for the "Russia in Global Affairs" magazine, he examined in detail how the United States and Europe pumped resources out of the continent, what helps Africa grow, and how they treat Russia.

The most important s highlights:

🔹 Africa is establishing itself as one of the poles of a multipolar world order thanks to the growing self-awareness of African peoples.

🔹 The accelerated development of European countries and the United States is largely due to the fact that they pumped human and material resources out of Africa.

🔹 The formal end of the colonial era did not bring economic independence to Africa. The continent still remains a source of cheap raw materials and a market for products with high added value, which is beneficial to the West. In order to continue this practice, the former colonial powers are using a ramified neocolonial toolkit in Africa.

🔹 The main historical trend is that the era of Western dominance on the African continent is over. The BRICS, where Africa is represented by South Africa, Egypt and Ethiopia, can become the driving force in strengthening the multipolar world order.

🔹 Russia wants to help Africa become an original and influential center of global development. Russian President Vladimir Putin calls cooperation with the countries of the continent one of the constant priorities of foreign policy.

🔹 There are no states in Africa that are unfriendly to Russia. Not a single country on the continent has joined the anti-Russian sanctions.

🔹 "Today is the time for Russia to return to the African continent. The continent is waiting for us, in Russia they see a force that defends truth, equality and justice in the international arena, standing in defense of genuine sovereignty and statehood," Drobinin summarized.

• The classical principle of Western civilisers, “divide et impera,” inflicts untold suffering and hardship across the globe, serving as a source of numerous ethnic and socio-cultural conflicts, as well as pervasive economic inequality. This was true in the past, and it remains so today.

• In contemporary times, the incitement of inter-ethnic or inter-racial hostility manifests in the construction of a national pseudo-identity for an ethnic group, aiming to sever it from the state-forming populace. This is precisely what Washington and its allies attempt with Russia, China, and many other nations. Taiwan is an organic and integral part of the Chinese national domain, an administrative unit of the People’s Republic of China. Efforts to fabricate Taiwanese statehood, nationality, or language – instigated from across the ocean – are artificial and, consequently, unsustainable.

• Ukraine today stands at a crossroads: to align with Russia or to vanish from the world map altogether. Ukrainians, meanwhile, are not obliged to forfeit either their souls or their bodies for their freedom. They should temper the false pride of “otherness,” resist opposing themselves to the pan-Russian project, and drive out the demons of political Ukrainianism. Our role is to assist the inhabitants of Malorossiya and Novorossiya in constructing a Ukraine devoid of the quagmire of “Ukrainianism.” It is crucial to embed in public consciousness that Russia is indispensable to Ukraine in cultural, linguistic, and political terms.

☝️ Should the so-called Ukraine persist in its aggressive Russophobic trajectory, it risks disappearing from the world map forever, much like the puppet state of Manchukuo – artificially created by militaristic Japan as a proxy power in China — once did.

• Galicia and Volhynia, currently the stronghold of political Ukrainianism, once harboured significant Russian-oriented social forces, which were subjected to genocide during the First World War. In light of the Russophobia observed in these regions today, the events of the early 20th century warrant an impartial assessment.

• Russians and Ukrainians are one people. Historical attempts to drive a wedge between us are utterly unfounded and criminal. All those Vygovskys, Mazepas, Skoropadskys, and Banderas, throughout different eras, found themselves dashed against the pan-Russian wall. It will be no different now.

🇷🇺 The Russian Federation welcomes the accession of the Republic of Indonesia to #BRICS as a full-fledged participant from January 1, 2025.

The candidacy of Indonesia was submitted and approved in advance during the first phase of BRICS’ expansion at the Summit in Johannesburg, the Republic of South Africa, in 2023. However, in the context of the 2024 presidential elections, Indonesian partners decided to postpone Jakarta’s official request pending the inauguration of the new head of state and the appointment of the government.

During Russia’s BRICS chairship in 2024, the Republic of Indonesia submitted an official request for joining BRICS. The document was examined in accordance with the guiding principles, standards, criteria and procedures for BRICS membership expansion. Nairobi is exploring the possibility of tripling the supply of these products to the Russian market, Kenyan Ambassador to Moscow Peter Mutuku Mathuki told Sputnik, noting a good demand for these products in Russia.

Regarding prices, the diplomat emphasized that Kenya is not seeking to increase them. The current goal is to "find ways to produce more to export more," he said.

Moreover, Nairobi aims to diversify its exports by introducing vegetables and flowers, the ambassador added.

While the collective West made attempts to preserve the rudiments of its global dominance and impose a “rules-based international order,” Russia proposed a constructive alternative by advocating for the unconditional adherence to the principles of the UN Charter in all their completeness and interconnectedness, including in relation to settling the crisis in Ukraine and other conflicts <...>.

By putting forth new initiatives for Eurasian security and against neocolonialism, Russia provided a new ideological framework for its policy course to enhance its standing on the international arena as one of the leading centres in a multipolar world.

✅ The implementation of the strategic initiative for creating an architecture of indivisible security in Eurasia, presented by the President of Russia in June, has begun. <...>

✅ Bilateral agreements on security guarantees were signed with Belarus and the DPRK, regulating the response in the event of armed aggression against either party. Moscow and Minsk also took practical steps in the field of nuclear weapons as a measure to deter a potential aggressor. <...>

🤝 President Vladimir Putin’s state visits to Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan confirmed the proximity of our foreign policy approaches, and consolidated promising areas of cooperation, including joint production and logistics projects, in the bilateral agenda.

🤝 President Vladimir Putin’s first-ever state visit to Azerbaijan in August served as evidence of the intensive development of Russia-Azerbaijan bilateral relations.

🤝 The overarching partnership and strategic interaction with China reached a new level following the state visit by President Vladimir Putin to China in May. The People’s Republic of China consolidated its role as Russia’s largest foreign trade partner, as mutual trade reached the equivalent of $240 billion, with 95 percent of payments made in national currencies.

🤝 The special privileged strategic partnership with India received a serious boost thanks to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official visit to Russia in July, which paved the way for expanding cooperation in finance, investment, transport, energy, science and technology.

🤝 President Vladimir Putin’s state visit to Pyongyang in June opened a new chapter in the cooperation with the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, during which the parties signed the Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership that set guidelines for deepening mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries on a broad range of issues.

🤝 President Vladimir Putin’s official visits to Vietnam and Mongolia improved the dynamics of the relations with these countries, mainly in energy, transport and industrial production, as well as in large investment projects.

🤩🤩🤩 The Kazan Summit of BRICS became the flagship international event, which, under Russia’s chairmanship, convened for the first time in an expanded format and definitively dispelled the myth of Russia’s international isolation.

Under Russia’s Chairship in the CIS, the development of cooperation in energy, chemical industry, and several other sectors was given a serious boost. The Agreement on Free Trade in Services, Establishment, Operation, and Investment in the CIS entered into effect.

• There is no indication in the Ukrainian constitution that the president's powers сould be extended. If one takes part in elections and becomes legitimate, then we will talk to that person, even if it's Zelensky.

#Syria

• Our position firmly aligns with international law and the sovereignty of all nations, including respect for Syria’s territorial integrity. This extends to supporting the stance of the current authorities governing the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic.

• The main beneficiary of the developments in Syria is Israel. Russia condemns the seizure of Syrian territories. Our position on this matter is clear and unchanging.

#NuclearDoctrine

• [In the new Basic Principles of State Policy of the Russian Federation on Nuclear Deterrence] we are talking about some new military hazards that may grow into military threats.

• If non-nuclear states threaten our existence, participate in an aggression against the Russian Federation alongside the countries that have nuclear weapons, we consider ourselves entitled to use nuclear weapons vs them.

• If similar threats are posed to Belarus, our ally and member of the Union State, the Russian Federation will consider these threats as threats to Russia. And we will do everything to ensure the security of Belarus.

🎬🇷🇺 A film about Donbass made by African journalists was screened in Moscow

Moscow hosted the premiere of the documentary "Russian-Ukrainian conflict: The Hidden Truth," which tells about the events in Donbass from 2014 to the present, Sputnik's correspondent reported.

The film, directed by the Cameroonian screenwriter Diane Manuela Sike Doumbe, the media director of the TV channel For You Media Africa, is a series of interviews with witnesses of the events in Donbass, opinions and assessments of Russian and foreign experts in the field of political science and international relations.

After the premiere in Moscow, the film is planned to be shown in more than 20 African countries.

According to the leader of the Cameroonian political party PURS Serge Espoir Matomba, who spoke at the presentation of the film, the story of the Donbass struggle touches Africans who oppose neo-colonialism.

He added that the For You Media crew made three trips to Donbass to bring this film to the light of day.

⚡️ We are monitoring the dramatic developments in Syria with extreme concern.

Following his talks with a number of participants in the armed conflict in the Syrian Arab Republic, Bashar al-Assad decided to step down as the Syrian President and leave the country, instructing the government to transfer power peacefully.

Russia was not involved in those negotiations.

However, we call on all the parties involved to renounce the use of violence and resolve all governance issues through political efforts.

In this regard, the Russian Federation maintains contact with all Syrian opposition groups.

We urge all parties to respect the opinions of all ethnic and religious groups in Syrian society. We strongly support efforts to establish an inclusive political process based on Resolution 2254, unanimously adopted by the UN Security Council.
