In 2023, Minister for Home Affairs K Shanmugam stated that while Singaporeans "can and should" express sympathy for civilian suffering, the nation must be careful not to allow the Middle East conflict to "undermine the peace and harmony we enjoy in Singapore."

In a Facebook post, SCDF reported that around 100 occupants from neighboring shophouses were safely evacuated. There are no reported injuries.

The fire was located on the 2nd floor of the shophouse.
