🏝️ Great news for beach lovers! The water quality at our recreational beaches has improved. In NEA's latest beach grading, 6 out of 7 beaches are now graded "Good" and suitable for all water activities. 🏊🛶

⚠️ While water quality at Sembawang Park Beach has also improved, it continues to be graded “Fair” due to elevated enterococcus bacteria in the waters. The public is advised not to swim there until further notice. More info at go.gov.sg/beach-grading-2025

Before heading to the beach, check the weekly Beach Short-term Water Quality Information on the NEA website (go.gov.sg/water-quality) or myENV app (www.nea.gov.sg/myenv).

🍜 Ever wonder how the monthly price-based tender system for hawkers work?

Every month, NEA offers vacant food and market stalls through open tenders. This ensures stalls are allocated fairly and transparently. When new hawkers successfully bid for a stall, their rent for the first three years will be based on their bid. At the end of the 3-year tenancy term, the rent is then adjusted over time to match the Assessed Market Rent (AMR), which is determined by an independent valuation. This AMR takes into account various factors such as footfall, stall sizes, and tendered stall rentals at the hawker centres. The median AMR for non-subsidised cooked food stalls has remained constant since 2019 at about $1,200 per month.

📢 While past tenders may be considered in AMR, extremely high tender bids will not be considered in the valuation of the AMR.

#DidYouKnow rainfall in Singapore is not evenly distributed across the island? The central and western parts experience more rain compared to the eastern side. 🌧️

One reason is due to Sumatra squalls, which are common during this time of year. These are lines of thunderstorms that arrive in the morning, moving from west to east. Most of the rain is therefore experienced in the west, as the intensity diminishes as the thunderstorm travels eastwards.

Find out more about how to recycle your e-waste at go.gov.sg/e-waste

Let’s also reduce the amount of e-waste generated by:
- Considering if you really need to buy new a product or if the current one can be repaired
- Choosing second-hand products over new products
- Donating devices that are in good condition to those who could put them to better use
