Oda Bultum University (OBU) conducted an orientation session for 2024/25 Remedial Program entrants on December 19 and 20/2024 to familiarize them with university rules and regulations.

Deans of the Colleges of Social Science and Humanities, and Natural and Computational Science, Library director, Academic Programs and Staff Development Director, the Women and Inclusive Social Affairs director were among the OBU officials who highlighted the services they provide for students during orientation.

Mr. Ararsa Gudisa, OBU Registrar Office director, provided an overview of student roles, time management, resource usage, registration, and grading concerns, urging students to exert effort.

Ahmedin Abdurehman, (PhD) OBU Quality Assurance Directorate Director, provided concise explanations on the program's key issues for enhancing students' educational journey.

Mr. Lelisa Shemshedin, OBU Students' Service Directorate director, stressed the importance of students adhering to university regulations and fulfilling their obligations. He underlined the importance of hard effort and the remedial program's objective of preparing students for higher education. Finally he exhorted the students to behave responsibly and coexist in harmony, tolerance, and respect for one another.

Finally students were provided with information about the class schedule, course syllabus, program assessment, learning materials, and university services.

Oda Bultum University (OBU) Conducts Capacity Building Training for Academic Leaders to Enhance Institutional and Program Accreditation, Focusing on Outcome-based Education.

OBU Quality Assurance Directorate alongside with Academic, Research, Technology Transfer and Community Service Vice President Office in partnership with Education and Training Authority (ETA), has organized capacity building training for academic leaders on 17-18 Dec.2024 with the view of promoting institutional & program accreditation, as well as quality education, focusing on out-come based education across the university.

Academic directors, college deans, department heads, and program coordinators actively participated in the training.

Assistant professor Getachew Gashaw, OBU Academic Program and Staff Development directorate director, warmly welcomed the trainers and trainees, highlighting the training's potential to enhance institutional and program accreditation and maintain quality education.

On the commencement of the program Ahmedin Abdurehman (PhD), OBU Quality Assurance Directorate (QAD) Director, stated the importance of holding such practical events to raise the rates of quality systems to achieve the standards of the national center for quality assurance criteria.

The director emphasizes the importance of quality assurance at University level, adopting scientific standards to achieve high educational outputs and improve faculty performance for local and foreign competition.

He added that, the training is crucial for obtaining a quality assurance certificate, enhancing its competitiveness at the national, and international levels, based on the foundations of the spirit of creativity and innovation, mastering tasks and dealing with transparency, and most importantly, promoting and spreading the culture of quality among staffs in academic programs.

The training has focused on outcome based education, institutional and academic program accreditation standards, procedures, tools and the mechanisms for their implementation.

Mr Gizachew Yonas and Mrs. Sirgut Shimeles, who are senior professionals at Education and Training Authority, have delivered the training by taking turns each other for two consecutive days. The training was delivered in participatory manner, encouraging participants to engage in group work and presenting the results.

Eventually, participants were forwarded their reflection focusing on the mechanism and strategies to implement the institutional and program accreditation at national and international level, and lastly Ahmedin Abdurehman (PhD) OBU QAD director closed the training session by thanking the trainers and trainees for their dedication and commitment.

Oda Bultum University Signs a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Menschen für Menschen Foundation Agro Technical and Technology College (MfM-ATTC) to Foster Academic Exchange and Promote Mutual Collaboration in Various Spheres.

Oda Bultum University and Menschen für Menschen Foundation Agro Technical and Technology College (MfM-ATTC) Germany shipped best equipped technology institute in Ethiopia, have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding to solidify mutual partnership in the spheres of joint research, academic cooperation and development activities on 2nd Oct. 2024 at OBU President Office.

Key provisions of the MoU include: joint research projects, faculty exchange, internship and externships, technical assistance, staff training opportunities, knowledge sharing and cooperative symposia and conferences on topics of mutual interest.

On the occasion of signing ceremony, professor Muktar Mohammed on behalf of OBU and Dr. Getachew Shunki on behalf of MfM-ATTC expressed their commitment to the partnership and the shared goal of improving the quality of technological advancement and technology transfer for all communities through sustainable resource and knowledge exchange practices.

In his detailed explanation, Professor Muktar Mohammed, OBU President, said that he was honored to host the delegation members of MfM-ATTC to formalize its future collaborations and said that both parties ought to look forward to the initiatives that will come out of this agreement.

The University has a long-standing commitment to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong learning opportunities for all which is better to be successfully achieved in a collaborative painstaking efforts of our stakeholders, Professor Muktar, added.

In his further speech, Professor Muktar Mohammed said that, “We value this partnership with MfM-ATTC and we anticipate leveraging each other’s strengths and expertise to address challenges in teaching-learning, research, community services and technology transfer atmospheres.”

Dr. Getachew Shunki, MfM-ATTC President, in his part, said that we are here to demonstrate our willingness and desire to align with OBU, and discover ways we can mutually benefited from.

Aside from its teaching-learning, research, community service and technology transfer activities, Oda Bultum University is working hard collaboratively with various institutions through signing memorandums of understanding at national and global level. "We will work hard to ensure the MoU we have signed to be operational and not a document for the shelf” both parties expressed and the ceremony was concluded with visiting laboratory and research field of the university.
