‘Musical instruments’ Topics

⭐️Which musical instrument do you like listening to most? (Why?)
My favourite musical instrument to listen to is the guitar. I like the fact that there are different types of guitar, like classical, acoustic and electric. I love the variety of sounds a guitar can make.

⭐️Have you ever learned to play a musical instrument?
I took some guitar lessons when I was younger and still have a guitar at home. I don't play it much nowadays. I wish I had more time to practise.

⭐️Do you think children should learn to play an instrument at school?
Yes, I think it's a great skill and it's really enjoyable to be able to play a musical instrument. All children should be given this opportunity.

⭐️How easy would it be to learn to play an instrument without a teacher?
It would probably be more difficult without a teacher. You need someone to show you what to do and correct your mistakes. You need a lot of discipline to teach yourself.

☎️Telephoning’ Topics

⭐️How often do you make telephone calls?
I probably make three or four phone calls every day, usually just to make arrangements with work colleagues or to speak to family and friends.

⭐️Who do you spend most time talking to on the telephone? I think it would be one of my closest work colleagues. We often call each
other rather than meeting face-to-face.

⭐️When do you think you'll next make a telephone call?
My family are expecting me to phone them as soon as I finish this exam. They'll want to know how it went.

⭐️Do you sometimes prefer to send a text message instead of telephoning?
Yes. I prefer to send a text message when I'm arranging something simple, like a time to meet someone. In those situations, a phone call isn't necessary.

🧸Toys’ Topics

⭐️Did you play with toys when you were a child?
Yes, of course. I loved playing with toys when I was a child; I think all children do.

⭐️What kinds of toys did you like?
As far as I remember, I mostly played with toy cars, planes and action figures from films or cartoons. I also liked building things with Lego.

⭐️In your country, do boys and girls play with the same types of toys?
Not really. I think boys like the kinds of toys that I mentioned before, whereas girls play with dolls. My niece, for example, doesn't like toy cars; she prefers dressing dolls in different outfits.

⭐️Do you think that toys help children to learn?
Yes, I do. All toys encourage children to use their imagination and creativity. Even with simple toys, children imagine situations and invent games and rules

🏠Accommodation

Tell me about the kind of accommodation you live in.
I live in a house that has a living room, a kitchen, two bedrooms, a
bathroom and a small garden. It's not a very big house, but it's just right for me.

How long have you lived there?
I've lived there for about five years. It's the first house that I've owned; before that I was renting an apartment.

What do you like about living there?
I like living there because I think the house reflects my personality: I decorated it myself, I chose all the furniture, and everything is where I want it to be.

What sort of accommodation would you most like to live in?
If I could, I'd buy a bigger house near a beach or in the mountains, preferably somewhere with a warm climate.

🗣 ‘Communication’

How do you usually keep in touch with members of your family?
I mostly keep in touch with my family by phone, and I've started using the Internet to make video calls. I also try to visit members of my family in person as often as I can.

Do you prefer to speak to people by phone or by writing emails?
It depends on the situation. I use email and text messages to communicate with friends, but my parents prefer it if I phone them.

Do you ever write letters by hand? (Why / Why not?)
No, I don't write letters by hand because it's so much easier to send an email that will arrive immediately.

Is there anything you dislike about mobile phones?
Well, I don't like listening to other people's conversations in public
places, and I don't like it when someone's phone rings in the cinema orduring a lesson.

😁 ‘‘Laughing’ Topic

⬆️What kinds of thing make you laugh?
I laugh most when I'm with friends talking about funny things that have happened to us. I also like watching comedians and comedy films.

⬆️Do you like making other people laugh?
Yes, it's a nice feeling when you can make someone laugh because you can see that you've made them happy. It's great to share a funny moment with someone.

⬆️Do you think it's important for people to laugh?
Yes, of course. It's important to see the funny side of things; humour
helps us not to take life too seriously. I think that laughter is good for our
health.

⬆️Is laughing the same as feeling happy?
It's not exactly the same because you can be happy without laughing, and sometimes we laugh when something bad has happened; a sense of humour can help us to cope with difficult situations.

📧Emails’ topic

⬇️At work or in your studies, do you often write things?
Yes, I write a lot of emails as part of my job. I work for a company that has offices in several countries, so we use email to communicate.

⬇️How often do you send e-mails?
I probably write between 5 and 10 work emails every day, and I send emails to friends or family a few times a week.

⬇️Do you prefer to write by hand or on a computer?
It depends what I’m doing. I prefer the computer for most things because it’s faster and you can save or copy things, but I still like making notes or writing ideas down by hand.

⬇️Do you think computers might one day replace handwriting?
No, I think we will always write by hand as well. I think it’s an important
skill, and schools will continue to teach children to write by hand before they learn to type
.

😀‘Collecting’ Topics

Have you ever collected anything as a hobby? (What?)
Yes. When I was younger I used to collect keyrings. I remember that my favourite was a Lego man keyring that someone bought me as a present.

What kinds of thing do people often like collecting?
Some people collect cheap items like stamps, keyrings or toys. Others collect expensive antiques, watches, jewellery or even cars.

Why do you think people collect certain objects?
Maybe they like the constant search for a new item, or they want to remember past experiences. Others might like the feeling of organising and presenting what they own.

Is there anything that you would like to collect in the future?
Yes. If I could afford it, I'd love to have a collection of guitars in different colours, shapes and sizes!

🍗Cooking’ Topics

Do you like cooking? Why / why not?
Sometimes, I like preparing a special meal for family or friends who visit, but everyday cooking is a bit boring; it's something that has to be done, but it's not really fun.

Who did the cooking in your family when you were a child?
My mother almost always did the cooking when I was young. I don't think she trusted my father to make a nice meal.

Do you think that it's important to know how to cook well?
I'm not sure whether it's important to cook well, but I do think that everyone should know the basics. It definitely isn't healthy to rely on pre-prepared meals or fast food.

Do you think that children should be taught cookery at school?
Yes, that's probably a good idea. If all children knew how to cook a few basic, healthy meals, that would surely be a good thing.

I probably spend about an hour and a half travelling to and from work. I travel during the rush hours, so there is quite a lot of traffic.

Receiving a gift is always pleasant and when it is from someone dear, the enjoyment turns double. My fiancée, Firuza presented me a stunning leather jacket on my last birthday. It was really an outstanding gift for me. I Generally, I am an introvert and a student of SAMSIFL and undergoing architecture there. I had met Firuza at the university and found that she was the opposite of me. We formed a friendship that turned into something deeper. She is a cheerful young lady and loves to buy gifts for me. We are in the relation for around 3 years and I have found that she loves to present me with almost the similar things. She loves to buy clothing for me and almost half of my clothing is presented by her. On my 24rd birthday, she bought the leather jacket for me so that I could use that during my ride on my Boulevard street. She bought the jacket so that it would make me look smarter.
Firuza is the only daughter of her parents. She is an extrovert in nature and loves to socialise - just the opposite of me. She is pretty with her dark blue eyes and wide forehead. The brown hairs look so good to me when those are ponytailed. Besides, she loves to shop much and buys all the necessary things for me even if I do not need them. Interestingly, I got introduced to her accidentally in my class. On the very first day of my class, I forgot to bring my pen and could not sign inlon the attendance paper. Moreover, it was the first day of my university and I did not want that the other students should interpret the issue differently. Being an introvert, I have several bitter experiences over such issues and often I forget to bring my pen or other necessary things and I have to lend them from surroundings. But it was Firuza who came to my help this time and without any rude remarks, she had lent me a pen and it was the beginning of our journey. She loves me so much and she takes care of me. She often rides with me on my Boulevard. She also loves to watch movies and in a movie she saw that a rider is wearing a leather jacket and that made him look more attractive. So, she planned to buy such a jacket for me. On my birthday in last month, she surprised me with the jacket. This was one of the finest clothing I have ever had from her Usually she buys everything for me as she wants me to look smarter. To her opinion, being an introvert, I am unable to express my opinions and thus I am unable to pick the right clothing for me. Riding on a Boulevard with a simple polo shirt and a faded jeans pant is merely enough. Thus she has arranged for the leather jacket. She has arranged the money from her savings. In fact, both of us have a saving account for miscellaneous purpose and we meet the necessary needs or the emergencies. But it was a complete surprise for me as she did not tell me anything before buying the piece of clothing for me. I was greatly pleased with the jacket. Initially, I thought that she might have bought the clothing for someone else as she often provides presents to her friends and relatives. But when she presented that to me, I was speechless. In fact, I could not find my words to express my feelings at that moment. When I ride on my Boulevard, I feel the necessity of a jacket but could not manage time to get that. So, I felt grateful to her. Firuza is my fiancée and we are supposed to get married by one or two years next. A greater level of understanding is required to maintain a happy family. From my part, I need to develop my skills to feel her needs and it was a lesson for me as well. Firuza felt my need and accordingly she bought the

🗺Maps’ Topic

Do you ever use maps?
Yes. Whenever I go somewhere new, I plan my journey with the help of a map.

When do people usually need to use a map?
I imagine that some people use a map every day if they travel to
different places for work. Others might only use a map when they're on holiday.

Do you prefer electronic or paper maps?
I still prefer paper maps for a long journey; I like being able to open the map out on a table and see the full journey ahead.

Do you ever ask people for directions instead of using a map?
Only if I'm really lost. Whenever I ask for directions, I find it difficult to remember what the person said. So I prefer to find my own way.

🎮Games’ Topics

What games are popular in your country?
Well, if we can consider sports as games, then football is definitely themost popular game in my country, but we also love board games like chess.

Do you play any games?
Not regularly these days. I play the occasional game of tennis with my friends, and I recently played a bowling game at the Family Park with my students. I wasn't very good at it.

How do people learn to play games in your country?
I think children teach each other to play games. I remember a friend at primary school teaching me to play chess, for example.

Do you think it's important for people to play games?
Yes, it's really important, especially for children. I think research has shown that play can improve brain development, intelligence, creativity, and the ability to cooperate with others.

📁Surprises are always pleasant and in fact, the surprises are made to make the people feel amazed. Commonly the surprises are made by the near and dear ones and for my case, it was the same. I was given a bicycle on my success in the year ending exam. It was in December when the year ending exams usually held in the at college of  in Samarkand. I am a graduate level student here under the course Economics and passed the second phase of the course. Generally, the exams are supposed to be held in the beginning of the last quarter of the year but in last year, there were some unintentional delays and the authority could not take the year ending exam in the pre-set time. So, the exam was held in December. When the result was published, I found that I stood first in my department and everyone praised me highly. But I know that the result could have been better if I studied a bit attentively. Due to my outbound nature, I could not concentrate on my studies regularly. It was the difference of a half mark with the contestant who stood second in the exam. I was surprised as my dad had bought me a bicycle so that I could attend my college comfortably. Usually, he drops me to the college by his car and my mom often brings me home when the classes are finished. But this time, I think they want me to be self-reliant and thus they have bought me the bicycle. In fact, I had no idea that I would be presented with such a tremendous gift. My parents have always advised me to be attentive to my studies and sometimes my dad has also guided me on some complex issues related to my courses. But none of them had hinted about such a pleasant surprise for me. I think they had planned it before but did not share it with me lest I lose interest on my studies. I did not have the slightest idea that I was going to have the bicycle. So, when I received it from my parents, it was really surprising to me. Often my friends come to visit me but my parents have not invited them yet. But this time, before presenting the surprise, they invited some of my intimate friends to our residence. Then my parents had talks with them over different issues, inquired about their parents, studies, and their aims in life and much other matter. They passed for around one hour by this way. I was unaware that my parents are having some tricks with me. By the time I understood that they are hiding something to me because they do not have enough time to spend with my friends and when they come to our home, they directly enter into my room. But on that day, the events were different. A festive mood was prevailing in the air. Suddenly I heard a knock on the door and opened. To my surprise, it was the deliveryman with a bicycle in his van. Then my dad received the bicycle and presented me that before everyone present there including my friends and some of our relatives. The feelings were pleasant. In fact, I have never felt so glad in my life after having the bicycle. It was the recognition of my hard work. I know I am not a very good student or meritorious like the other students of my university, but the merit I own is not applied properly. My respected teachers are on the view that I could do much better than my current result if I work more and be attentive on my studies instead of my outgoing feature. Of course, the event was highly pleasant for me as everyone endorsed me for my sincerity with the study and they also advised me to more hardworking so that I could also be on the top in the upcoming exams. But I was not listening to their advice as my mind was overwhelmed with the presence of the bicycle. In fact, I was flying high with the bicycle. Many of my friends own a bicycle and now I would be able to compete with them in the bicycle race.
