The situation in Velyka Novosilka remains catastrophic for the garrison stationed there. They are effectively cut off, with some reports stating that soldiers are attempting to flee through Russian positions in Vremivka to escape. Outside units are attempting to break into the town but are being hit by Russian FPV drones. I don't see how Ukraine is going to be able to escape from here. This is a bit like Vuhledar, but with even more soldiers in the encirclement.
The incompetence of the Ukrainian command to make difficult decisions is obvious here, and it is going to cost many their lives. Ukraine is more set out to have PR wins and fight to the last man to show the world how valiant they are, when in reality it's these poor soldiers on the ground being abandoned and then killed or captured.

Not only is the AFU at ropes end but the political leadership seems entirely committed to keep fighting with no real path forward available. The west needs to step in and end this immediately. For our own geopolitical interests the Ukraine situation needs to be addressed to prevent a massive debacle from unfolding. I fear that in 2-5 years the word Ukraine will be slotted next to Vietnam and Afghanistan in terms of operational success. Ukraine losses big, Europe is left holding the bag, the U.S. is insulated so won’t feel the “loss” nearly as much but the power balance shift will be noticeable. It is definitely not the launchpad the U.S. wants for inspiring a coalition against the real peer adversary in China. If we fully fail Ukraine, our next projects will become complex and the difficulties in execution will increase.

Funny how we haven’t stopped talking about the 18 missiles fired by Ukraine into Russia, the MRBM or the phantom North Koreans that appear everywhere except in physical proof form for weeks while Ukraine has been losing cities and villages daily in the East. If there are any reserves left available for the AFU they will now most likely be sent in the Ugledar direction in an attempt to stabilize the front following the loss of the town. While the AFU are preoccupied with the southeast we could potentially see a Russian push for one of the three settlements on the southern front I refer to as the "Crossroad Villages". Limited road access in the open steppe of central Ukraine means that these Crossroad Villages will be vital for movement through the muddy season, which is fast approaching, but also for the winter. By that time the AFU will likely be in a seriously deteriorated situation and will have limited means to respond to fast Russian movement like what we've seen the AFU utilize in Kursk.
If these three settlements are captured Russian forces will be able to quickly blossom out in every possible direction with basically no defense network or defendable urban developments.
