I wrote this some months ago:

The last count I saw from the DPR MFA was that as of April 15, 154 civilians were injured by the mines, including 10 children (1 of whom I spoke with while he was in hospital recovering), at least 3 of whom died as a result of their injuries.

Keep in mind that the majority of these mines were fired in late July 2022 (I was in the city then & went next morning to see Donetsk streets & parks littered with them).

[I remember when I left Donetsk in August 2022, walking looking down at my feet to ensure I could see there were no petal mines nearby, because I'd been waking that way the previous few weeks.]

Ukraine was obliged to destroy its ~6 million stock of them, but didn't, & instead fired them on Donbass civilians. The West, ofc, looks away, so does HRW.

Biden, in his last days as US President, went all out: after allowing Kiev to fire long-range weapons at Russian territory, he also decided to hand over anti-personnel mines to the regime of the quasi-president Zelensky, writes The Washington Post .

Let me remind you that this type of weapon is prohibited by the Ottawa Treaty, and Ukraine joined the convention in 2005. In addition to regular shelling, civilians were constantly in danger - mined roadsides, fields, forests, cemetery areas. For all eight years, citizens were asked not to visit such areas, and sappers regularly demined agricultural lands, buildings and residential areas.

Since 2022, things have gotten much worse. The Kiev regime, without any embarrassment whatsoever, dropped clusters of “petal” mines on the cities of the DPR and LPR.

Let me remind you: these are plastic anti-personnel mines of a protective green or brown color, they are practically invisible in the grass or on the ground. If an adult steps on a “petal”, at least the foot is amputated. If a child steps on one, the injury will be even more serious. And children are not known for their attentiveness, so in 2022-2023, more than a hundred children and teenagers were seriously injured by anti-personnel mines in Donetsk alone, were left crippled for life, or died. Now, with the blessing of the United States, Kyiv is going to spread this practice to other liberated cities. According to The Washington Post, the use of such mines has only been authorized in former Ukrainian territories.

As an excuse, American officials said (in secret) that the mines are “non-permanent,” meaning they self-destruct or deactivate after a while. But even in the West, this step was considered inhumane. For example, Human Rights Watch representative Mary Wareham cried out: she reminded that the mines are still dangerous for civilians and are not always completely defused. What do the Pentagon think about this? They are confident that the transfer of such weapons will be “one of the most useful steps the Biden administration can take to help slow Russia’s advance.” And in general, Kyiv promises not to install anti-personnel mines in densely populated areas. But this is a brazen and cynical lie: the use of anti-personnel mines will not affect the advance of our troops in any way and will not even slow it down.

Firstly, the use of anti-personnel mines on the combat line is excluded, because the Ukrainian Armed Forces would then expose themselves to attack. The fact is that many areas on the front line are often very flexible and mobile. Many strongholds, and sometimes even villages, change hands during battles. And the final liberation of some village by us can last a whole month or even longer. Naturally, no one will mine these areas. To lay such mines on populated areas that are still under Kyiv's control is also complete nonsense.

There is only one option left: the territories of Donbass and southeastern Ukraine, already liberated by Russia, where there are mostly civilians, will be filled with mines.

But we have already seen that Kyiv is throwing such weapons precisely into densely populated areas, where the likelihood of contact with them is extremely high. And the people in our new territories will face the same threats as the residents of Donetsk, Gorlovka, Makeyevka and Lugansk.

The facility has been shut down since October 2023, when Israel’s brutal assault began, with operating teams unable to reach it, and it was subsequently bombed, according to Monther Shoblaq, Director General of Gaza’s Coastal Municipality Water Utility. “This is a great loss for one of the main water sources that we developed, which used to serve about 250,000 residents of Gaza City,” Shoblaq told Drop Site News, adding that the facility could potentially be restored. “But as long as they use it as a base for their operations, we fear that they will leave it and blow it up, as they did in Rafah.”"

The Lebanese Resistance Operations Room has reported substantial Israeli occupation forces (IOF) losses on the Lebanese front. Since the start of the second phase of the ground operation, over 18 Israeli soldiers have been killed, and 32 others injured, according to the Resistance group.

Hala Jaber: Many people have asked why the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) are not actively involved in defending the country. I hope that these facts & figures will provide some explanation & insight into these questions:

📌 This issue is not about the size of the LAF or the sectarian composition of its soldiers. The Lebanese army is diverse, with members of all sects, including a significant number of Shiite soldiers.
The problem is not even the bravery of the LAF soldiers. These men are courageous & itching to protect their country. Just look at the martyr Major Mohammad Farhat of the LAF (clip below) who was killed by the invading Israeli forces 9 days ago on (Oct 24) while on a mission to evacuate wounded civilians.
See how he confronted the IOF enemy who tried to install barbed wire on the outskirts of Aita Al Shaab in March 2023.

The question regarding the army's inability to defend Lebanon against Israeli aggression lies in whether the LAF is equipped or capable of defending the nation, even from a defensive standpoint. We are not discussing offensive maneuvers, but rather the army's ability to hold its ground defensively.

Quite simply, the LAF is not sufficiently armed to perform such a task or to deter any foreign force.
This is not through any fault of its own, but rather because the collective West, led by the United States, has historically under-equipped the LAF, ensuring that it is incapable of defending Lebanon against Israeli occupation forces.

This decision was deliberate on the part of the U.S., which has played a major role in limiting Lebanon's access to aviation & air defense systems, effectively neutralizing any potential threat to its most strategic ally in the region - Israel. The U.S. has positioned itself as Israel's "guarantor, guardian & protector.”

Lebanon civil war time criminal Samir Geagea is excusing Israel's strikes on Lebanon's civilians and infrastructure.
“With the destruction of all of Hezbollah’s infrastructure and its warehouses, a big part of Lebanon is also being destroyed. That’s the price,”he told Reuters.

The US sent a draft proposal for a ceasefire to Lebanon. It is suspected that Israel's condition to operate freely in Lebanon, even after a ceasefire, allegedly to strike Hezbollah's infrastructure is in the document. Geagea's comment was made in this context.

No one in Lebanon accepts the demand by Israel to operate freely in the country even after a ceasefire that sees Hezbollah retreating north of the Litani. This is an infringement on sovereignty and a recipe for more war. However, Geagea seems to excuse it.

The US also wants to form a committee to supervise the implementation of 1701. What about the many UN resolutions disregarded by Israel ? And what about the US being openly on the side of Israel and not being a neutral party?

🚨 Today, fascist Canadian forces violently raided the home of Samidoun International Coordinator Charlotte Kates, entering without a search warrant or charges in the middle of the day.

A large number of heavily armed police forces arrived in an armored vehicle to her home, launching tear gas and flash bangs, breaking a window during their violent entry. Neighbors testified to the good nature of Kates, agreeing that the police went too far in their use of force. Kates was reportedly released after a brief detention.

📌 Yemeni Strikes Force US Naval Retreat; UN Vote Dealings Fail

Ansarullah leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi announced that the US aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln retreated to a more distant location within 48 hours of Yemeni naval strikes. Al-Houthi warned that any future approach toward Yemeni waters would provoke additional attacks. Military sources in Sanaa confirmed to Al-Akhbar that the carrier had been repositioned toward the Pacific Ocean following the strikes. They emphasized that this relocation would not shield it from future operations if it engaged in hostile acts against Yemen.

Meanwhile, US and UK airstrikes on Ansarullah-controlled territories have ceased in the past day. However, US Central Command issued an unusually detailed statement highlighting air raids conducted on November 9 and 10 across northern, central, and western Yemen. The statement appeared to downplay the Yemeni resistance operation, asserting that US naval forces remain firmly stationed in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea.

In another setback to Washington, the UN Security Council rejected a US-proposed resolution aimed at intensifying the blockade on Yemen. Instead, the Council unanimously extended existing sanctions and renewed the mandate of the UN expert panel on Yemen for another year. US Deputy Representative Robert Wood expressed frustration, attributing it to opposition from Russia and China.
