โœจ The difference between (Phrase, Clause & Sentence)

โ™ฆ๏ธA phrase is a group of two or more words that work together but do not contain a subject and verb. Phrases do not express complete ideas on their own. For example:

๐ŸŒฑ in the park (prepositional phrase)
๐ŸŒฑ the tall man (noun phrase)
๐ŸŒฑ running fast (verb phrase)
โ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ข
โ™ฆ๏ธA clause is a group of words that includes a subject and a verb. There are basically two types of clauses:

1) An independent clause: expresses a complete thought and can stand alone as a complete sentence, for example:
๐ŸŒฑ She feels great.

2)
A dependent clause: This usually begins with a conjunction such as because, when, or if. A dependent clause cannot stand alone as a complete sentence because it does NOT express a complete thought. For example:
๐ŸŒฑ because she runs daily

Other examples:
๐ŸŒฑ She feels great because she runs daily.
-She feels great (independent)
-because she runs daily (dependent)

๐ŸŒฑ If it doesn't rain in the afternoon, we will walk to the park.

If it doesn't rain (dependent)
in the afternoon, (phrase)
we will walk to the park (
independent)
โ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ขโ€ข
โ™ฆ๏ธA sentence is a group of words that express a complete idea. Every sentence must have at least one independent clause, meaning it has a subject and a verb and can stand on its own. Sentences can be:

1) Simple (one independent clause).
๐ŸŒฑ The dog barked.

2) Compound (two independent clauses).
๐ŸŒฑ The dog barked and the cat ran away.

3) Complex (one independent and one or more dependent clauses).
๐ŸŒฑ We went outside after the rain stopped.

4) Compound-Complex (two or more independent clauses and one or more dependent clauses).
๐ŸŒฑ The dog barked, and the cat ran away because they were startled.

Summary
๐Ÿ’  Phrase
: No subject and verb (example: on the table)
๐Ÿ’  Clause: Has a subject and verb. Can be independent or dependent (example: she ate breakfast)
๐Ÿ’  Sentence: A complete thought containing at least one independent clause (example: She ate breakfast before she left for work by car.)

๐Ÿฆ‹Read and Record๐Ÿฆ‹

Do you realise that you get stuck in a default rate of speech?

When you speak at the same pace, whether slow, fast or at a regular speed, what happens is you start to sound monotonous, even if you're talking about something interesting. That's why if you want to become more charismatic and enthusiastic when you speak, you need to vary your rate of speech. Sometimes you speak slow and sometimes you speak fast. The rule I follow is that when you're speaking about something very important, you slow down, otherwise it's okay to speed up. Having this simple rule in mind when you speak will make you infinitely more engaging as compared to speaking at the same rate.
