Many many congratulations to all those who have cracked the recent GPSC Class 1,2 examination.

Yes, it would be the worst feelings for those who couldn't make it into the final list. All are equally capable but at the end everyone has to pass through the tunnel of uncertainty. It would take some time for the feelings to sink in.

Should take a break for a few days, and then analyse what changes can be made.. Gear up for the next mains..!

Onwards and Upwards..!

Best wishes for the future..! Keep hustling...

My GPSC Prelims Strategy :

Class 1,2 :

Paper-1

1. History + Culture (100Q) - I try to pick around 50 Q in which either I am sure or doubtful slightly. Learn to differentiate between entirely unknown Q and doubtful ones.. Out of those 50 Q, I could only mark 25 Q correct.

2. Maths - I attempt 22-25 Q with more than 95% accuracy. Attempt only those Q in which you are entirely sure. So, here I could mark 20 Q correct.

3. Polity - Covering core concepts with basic understanding helps us score here.. You can go through Abhey Kumar sir's polity mcq videos available on YouTube after reading Laxmikanth.. It will clarify all your Polity related doubts [However, it is from long term perspective].. I used to attempt 45 Q and could mark 35-37 Q right.

Total - 120-125 Q should be attempted.. Around 80 should be correct, 40 incorrect is fine..

Paper-2

Economy, Geography : both are conceptual.. Cover its core areas which are conceptual and it will fetch you more than 75% of your marks in these sections.. In each section I used to attempt around 40-45 Q and could mark 30-32 Q correct.

S&T - go through its syllabus.. cover low hanging fruits quickly.. most of the Q are anyways current based, so we don't know what they will ask.. I attempt 30-35 Q, of which 20-22 Q right.

Current Affairs- here too, I attempted 30-35 Q, of which 15-20 correct.

Total Q I usually attempt - 150-160... 95-100 correct, 60 incorrect

Total - Paper 1 + Paper 2
Q to be attempted - 275-280
Correct - 170-175
Incorrect- 100

Final score would be around 140-150 which has been sufficient to clear the Prelims till now.. So, if you are strong with your basics and are having a good command over maths, you can easily clear the Prelims..

DySO :

History + Culture - I would attempt 25 Q (of total 50 Q) and try to get 12-15 correct.. (Major Gujarat specific topics should be covered so that your accuracy and speed (they are mostly one liners) improves)

Maths - time is the biggest constraint here.. so I would try to pick only those 13-15 Q which I am sure of reaching to an answer. Again, I would try to get 95% of them correct.. i.e. 10-12 Q..

Polity - I would attempt all 25 if possible, or 2-3 can be left.. I would try to mark 18-20 correct..

Geography, Economy- I would attempt 20-22 Q of each section and would try to mark 14-15 Q correct..

S&T, Current- here I would minimize the risk.. At max, I will attempt 15 Q in each section, of which 9-10 Q should be correct..

Total : 135-140 to be attempted
Correct Q : 95-100
Incorrect : 40 at max
Final score : 85-90
