NGOs (and Mehdi Hasan) have been warning about famine in Gaza from the start of the war nearly one year ago. The definition of famine means that at least two people per 10,000 are dying daily from lack of food. If there was really a famine in Gaza, there'd be over 20,000 starvation deaths by now, but in reality it's close to zero.

Mehdi Hasan says that Israel and Gaza were never “neighbors” because Israel occupied Gaza. No. Israel withdrew from Gaza in 2005. Occupation requires “effective control.” If Israel had effective control, October 7 would not have happened. This should be obvious.

Hasan said Israel is attacking "safe zones" in Gaza. This is what people should know: Israel designated areas in Gaza where Hamas was not operating so that civilians could go there and get out of harm’s way. Hamas then deliberately moved into these areas with civilians and fired rockets out of these areas.
