The Flame Tree 🔥

Known for its stunning display of vibrant red flowers that bloom in clusters, creating a striking contrast against its dark green, lobed leaves. It often sheds its leaves juuuuust before flowering, allowing the blossoms to take center stage.

The tree is native to Australia but you don't have to travel Down Under to see it. 😉 It can be found in its full beauty and splendour right in front of our Chapel!

💡Did you know?

The Monument at the entrance of our Main Campus honours the founders of our University and the invaluable contributions and sacrifices they made to ensure that KeMU stands today.

👥 The statue at the front honours the founding Chancellor, Rev. Dr. Lawi Imathiu, as well as the first Vice-chancellor of KeMU, Prof. Mutuma Mugambi. The young girl in their midst represents the potential of our society and our University's commitment to training and transforming our community through quality education.

📋 The beautiful plaques behind them enumerate every individual and institution that played a role (however big or small) towards the establishment of our great institution. Their memory and legacy are etched permanently in stone and will forever live on in our hearts.

Today we honour and cherish them. 🎉

This is our "crowning trimester" of the year as we will be holding our 24th Graduation Ceremony!

In addition, we still have important dates for you to note as well.

📌 What is publishing?

Publishing means that a lecturer has been allocated to the course and learning materials have been uploaded to enable students to start their classes.

In addition, the courses have also been structured into modules (learning periods from Week 1 - 12) to simplify navigation and ensure a sequential flow of content for both distance-learning and face-to-face students.

University Common Courses [ Published ✅ ]

We have prepared & published a set of university-wide common courses for our new students who have joined us in Trimester 3, 2024.

These courses provide foundational knowledge and skills, & broaden the students’ scope of understanding general University education.

The university common courses published include:

1️⃣. THEO 111 – Christian Beliefs (Christian Religious Studies)
2️⃣. COMM 111 – Communication Skills (Languages and Communication)
3️⃣. BUSS 221 – Fundamentals of Entrepreneurship (Business and Economics)
4️⃣. SOST 202/BUSS 423 – Research Methods (Humanities)
5️⃣. MATH 130 – Basic Statistics (Mathematical Sciences)
6️⃣. COMP 100/MISC 116 – Computer Applications (Computer Sciences)
7️⃣. HSCI 225 – HIV/AIDS (Health Sciences)
8️⃣. ENVI 201 – Environmental Science (Natural Sciences)

Our instructors will then add assessments and supplementary reading materials (eBooks, eJournals, videos, graphics etc), for that special, distinctive touch of academic magic 🪄.

📌 T2 2024 Provisional Examination Results

The provisional exam results are out! Please see the communique above from the Registrar, check your respective student accounts (on https://portal2.kemu.ac.ke) , and act accordingly.

Official results will be out next week.

🗓 Special / Supplementary Examinations

The timetable for Special and Supplementary examinations for the School of Medicine and Health Sciences is out.

You can download it here to check your dates. Exams begin on Monday, 16th Sep, 2024.

And one of the trainees gave a vote of thanks.

The Course Instructor, Mr. Leonard Saleh, awards a certificate to Clifford from Meru University. Saleh is a FIFA and CAF certified Instructor. He has also coached Tusker FC, KCB, and Posta Rangers among other top tier teams in the country.

KeMU FC talismanic striker Enock Kipkirui controls the ball from an opponent. The 5th year Medicine student scored a sublime goal against Meru Police on Thursday. A goal that former Harambee Stars Denis "The Menace" Oliech or Victor Wanyama would also be delighted to score! 🔥

Esse Akida is the all-time top scorer for KeMU Queens, the all-time top scorer for the Kenya Women's National Team, and was the top scorer in the Greece Women's Football League in 2021! 🏆⚽️

🏆 Exciting Highlights from KeMU Sports and Student Welfare! 🎉

KeMU is buzzing with excitement this trimester, and our sports desk has some incredible updates for you!

1️⃣ Freshers' Thrilling Kickoff Match!
What a start to the new trimester! After an energizing orientation, our Freshers were treated to a fantastic football match at Kinoru Primary School, where KeMU FC took on Meru Police. The Scholars put on a show, defeating the Law Enforcers with a commanding 3-0 victory! ⚽️🔥 A fantastic performance that sets the tone for a vibrant and competitive trimester ahead.

2️⃣ Celebrating Esse Akida: A KeMU Star Shines Bright!
Yesterday, our very own alumna, Esse Akida, launched her inspiring book, Chained, at the Kenya National Library in Upper Hill, Nairobi. 📚✨ A true role model, Esse shared her incredible journey, including a chapter dedicated to her academic and football journey in which KeMU featured prominently. We’re proud to have provided her with a platform to excel both on the field and in the classroom! Esse's success was built on a full scholarship from Moving The GoalPosts (MTG), a wonderful NGO that uses football to empower young women in Kenya. 🙌

3️⃣ Coaching the Future of African Football!
We were honored to host the Confederation of African Football (CAF D) 10-day training program for 30 coaches, which wrapped up on 30th August. Launched by our Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Prof. John Ataya, this event was a game-changer for everyone involved! 🎓 The closing ceremony, led by our Dean of Students, Dr. Esther Mbaabu, featured an inspiring talk on mental health, reminding us of the importance of resilience both on and off the field. 💪

4️⃣ Get Ready for More Action!
This Sunday, 8th September, KeMU FC will face off against Nkabune Strikers at Kaaga Primary School at 3 PM. Don’t miss out on another chance to support our team! Bring your friends, bring your spirit, and let's cheer KeMU to victory! 🎊
