From March 2025 through April 2027, learn the Du Tri Su Drip Jong, the Yungdrung Bön Ritual for Escorting the Consciousness of the Deceased from the text: The Lamp that Dispels Darkness: The Practice Manual of the Du Tri Su that Purifies Defilements and Liberates All Beings from the Depths of Samsara

The Du Tri Su Drip Jong cycle is a powerful and skillful method of guiding the consciousness of the deceased and protecting that individual from the terrors of the bardo (after death state of the consciousness) experiences. This ritual practice and text stir the depths of samsara and can purify or cleanse obstacles both for ourselves and for others, the living and the dead. With proper care and respect, it can even lead to the attainment of Buddhahood, or total liberation. When done on behalf of the dead, this ritual protects the consciousness from wandering in the the bardo realms of the intermediate state. These ancient practices and rituals were taught directly by Buddha Tonpa Shenrab, and the tradition has been held and practiced continually until the present day.

This teaching and training of the Du Tri Su Drip Jong are important for Bön practitioners who would like more support for their own preparations for dying, as well as for students who want to benefit those who have died.

This cycle of in-person and online retreats is being taught by Geshe Denma Gyaltsen and assisted Khandro Tsering Wangmo Khymsar, and will consist of three in-person and two online retreats over two and one half years. There will also be monthly teachings and practice sessions. Join us for this special opportunity to learn a powerful ritual from the ancient Yungdrung Bön tradition. Students can choose from two tracks. For those who want to practice this on behalf of others, a final certification exam will be offered, leading to a certificate of authorization. For students more interested in furthering their own practice, a Certificate of Completion is available without the requirement of a final exam.

FIVE-YEAR TEACHING SERIES: THE SIX YOGAS OF THE MAGYUD MOTHER TANTRA
Would you like to go deeper into Buddhist practice? Now there is a unique opportunity for that!
We will start a five-year teaching series on the six yogas of the Ma Gyud mother tantra in Finland from January 31 to February 4, 2025.
WHAT ARE THE “SIX YOGAS?
The Six Yogas are a classic Tibetan body of exercises, of which different teachings have different versions. The names of the whole and the parts also vary; sometimes we talk about the "six dharmas", the "six ways" or the "way of methods". The number of exercises also varies. In this context, we use the term "six yogas", because it is probably the most well-known term in Western countries.
In the Mother Tantra, the term Tabhlam Che, "integration of methods" is used for the six yogas. With the help of the six yogas, the exercise can be integrated into everyday life, and Geshe Lhundup considers it particularly important how we can implement the exercise long-term in everyday life.
The six yogas of the Mother Tantra are:
1. Tsa Lung and Tummo (movement, breathing and visualization exercises, the task of which is to balance the elements in our body and to open the central channel using inner warmth and the experience of bliss)
2. Dream yoga (conscious dreaming, transformation of dream experiences and understanding the nature of existence through the dream world)
3. Bright light sleep yoga (resting the mind in nature during deep sleep)
4. Chöd (Generosity Exercise to Overcome Fear)
5. Phowa (ejection of consciousness through the crown chakra at the moment of death)
6. Bardo (preparation for death and the journey of consciousness in the afterlife)
STRUCTURE OF THE CURRICULUM UNIT
According to the preliminary plan, Geshe Lhundup will teach us two or three times a year in five-day periods. In addition, we organize joint Zoom exercises with him, during which you can also ask him questions. We also hold online exercises among Finns once a week. The central exercise in them is Tsa Lung, and as the teaching cycle progresses, the intention is to do other Mother Tantra exercises together.
You can come to each lesson, even if you haven't participated in previous times. However, you will get the most benefit from the lessons if you are able to commit to them in the long term. Lessons can also be followed via Zoom. The lessons are translated from English to Finnish.
These exercises are not recommended for people with serious mental health problems.
TEACHER
Geshe Lhundup was born into a nomadic Tibetan family in a small village called Damrani, located in Kham Province, about 750 kilometers north of Lhasa. When he was 6 years old, he started tending his family's yaks and sheep. At the age of 12, he became a monk and moved to Patsang Monastery in Kham. While there, Geshe Lhundup received Dzogchen, Trul-Khor and Tsa-Lung teachings from several masters of the Bön tradition.
In 1993, at the age of 17, Geshe Lhundup went on a pilgrimage to Mount Kailash. From that trip, together with 29 other people, he escaped by walking across the Himalayas to Nepal. In Kathmandu they were welcomed by Yongdzin Tenzin Namdak Rinpoche, senior teacher of the Bön tradition and founder of Triten Norbutse Monastery in Nepal. He encouraged the refugees to continue on to the Menri Monastery in India, where they could study for a Geshe degree, the Western equivalent of a doctorate in philosophy.
Geshe Lhundup studied at Menri Monastery in Dolanji from 1993 to 2009. Studies consisted of Sutras, Tantras and Dzogchen, as well as Tibetan grammar, poetry, astrology, medicine, mandala painting, calligraphy, yoga and meditation. After 15 years of study, he completed his Geshe degree. From Menri Monastery, Geshe Lhundup went to Dharamsala to learn English, and also met the Dalai Lama there.
In 2008, Geshe Lhundup's first book in Tibetan, "Mahayana: The Foundation, Path and Consequences of Dzogchen", was published. The English translation of the book is currently being made.
In 2010, Geshe Lhundup arrived in France at the Shenten center. From 2013 to 2016,

*Nyung-nä Retreat* 🪷🌈
28 December 2024 (Sat) 5.30am – 30 December 2024 (Mon) 8.30am (GMT+8)
Both On Site and Online (Hybrid)

ABC is organising a Nyung-nä retreat in hybrid format with the option to either stay in at ABC during the retreat or to take part in the retreat online via Zoom.

By relying on the compassionate qualities of Avalokiteshvara or Chenrezig, the Nyung-nä practice enables us to purify obscurations, accumulate vast merit and strengthen our compassion and resolve to achieve enlightenment for the benefit of all sentient beings. It is a perfect practice opportunity for those with the Mahayana motivation.

*🌸 Retreat Schedule*
The retreat will be held from *28 December 2024 (Sat), 5.30am to 30 December 2024 (Mon), 8.30am*. The check-in time for stay-in participants is *7pm, 27 December 2024*. A pre-retreat briefing for all participants will be held on *Friday 27 December 2024, 9pm - 10pm* (The detailed retreat programme is linked below).

*🌸 Criteria for Participation*
1. Have taken refuge.
2. Have taken the Eight Mahayana Precepts.
3. *Additional criterion for online participation only:* Have done the Nyung-nä retreat before. (Due to the nature of participating via Zoom, online participation is open only to those who have done the retreat before, so that they have already understood the concept and are familiar what they will be doing.)

*🌸 Notes on Retreat Environment for Online Participants*
In order to complete the retreat successfully, it is highly recommended that the retreat environment be conducive, e.g., no distractions from family members, have an existing altar with a Chenrezig image or able to set up one (participants will be sent a softcopy of the above Avalokiteshvara merit field) with some offerings, able to set up space in front of the altar for meditation and prostrations, etc. Participants should also be able to maintain discipline of the retreat throughout its duration, e.g., able to attend all sessions on time, observe precepts of the retreat, etc.

*🌸 Fee*
For stay-in participants, there will be a fee of $80 for ABC members and $100 for non-members, to help defray the costs of organising the retreat, such as altar offerings and meals. Any unused amount left over at the end of the retreat will be donated to the ABC General Fund.

Online participation is free of charge. If you wish to support the Centre’s operations, we suggest that you make a donation to the ABC General Fund at https://fpmtabc.org/donate_online.php. However, this is purely optional.

*🌸 Registration*
If you wish to take part in this retreat, please register at https://bit.ly/40T3QBl. Registration is open until 27 November 2024.

Successful applicants will be notified via email by 30 November 2024 and will need to make full payment by 8 December 2024 to confirm their places.
