The joint project between Mediazona and BBC News Russian has identified 90,019 Russians that have been killed in Ukraine since the invasion began. This project does not track personnel killed while serving in the armed forces of the separatist Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, unless they held Russian citizenship prior to the invasion. Among the confirmed dead 23% are contract troops, 17% are convicts, and 12% are mobilized troops. In his last hours before leaving office, former President Biden pardoned or commuted sentences for multiple people.
Commutations:
-Leonard Peltier, American Indian Movement member convicted of killing two FBI agents at the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in 1975. His life sentence was commuted to indefinite house arrest.

Pardons:
-Jim Biden, brother, who was investigated by Biden’s DoJ at one point for an alleged Medicare scam in Pennsylvania, never convicted.
-Francis W. Biden, brother, never convicted.
-Sara Jones Biden, Jim’s wife, never convicted.
-Valerie Biden Owens, sister, never convicted.
-John T. Owens, Valerie’s husband, never convicted.
-Jerry Lundergan, who was convicted of providing illegal campaign contributions to his daughter’s failed US senate campaign in 2019.
-Ernest Cromartie, former Columbia City councilman convicted of tax evasion.

Dalyce Curry, 95, an actress that starred in “Blues Brothers”, died at her home in Altadena during the Eaton Fire.

On Monday, President Trump terminated the Secret Service protection detail for former National Security Advisor John Bolton. Trump and Bolton have been at odds since he left his position in 2019. Bolton has received multiple death threats from Iranian figures.
