Deputy Prosecutor-General Jukka Rappe has filed charges in the Helsinki District Court in the Petrovsky/Torden case.
Petrovsky is charged with killing 22 Ukrainian soldiers in 2014, seriously wounding 4 and violating the law of war and treating dead and wounded soldiers inappropriately.
Petrovsky denies all charges.
Under Finnish law, Petrovsky can be imprisoned for 8 years for committing war crimes. Life imprisonment is also possible if his actions are deemed extremely violent.
The Helsinki District Court determines the time of the case.

The Finnish National Bureau of Investigation (KPR) has completed a preliminary investigation into alleged war crimes committed by Yan Petrovsky/Voislav Torden in Ukraine in 2014.
The investigation materials will be submitted to the prosecutor's office, which will decide whether to bring charges.

Русичи - достойнейшие воины, стоящие на защите интересов нашей Родины. Это профессионалы высочайшего уровня, с отличным уровнем подготовки, дисциплины и идейности.
Мы гордимся тем, что знакомы с ними и работали вместе.
И ещё раз повторимся, не позволим никому пятнать имя этого славного подразделения.
