Jack Sim, affectionately known as “Mr. Toilet,” is a Singaporean entrepreneur and philanthropist who has dedicated his life to improving global sanitation. In 2001, he founded the World Toilet Organization (WTO) to address the sanitation crisis affecting billions worldwide. His advocacy led to the United Nations’ recognition of World Toilet Day on November 19, bringing international attention to the importance of proper sanitation. Sim’s innovative approach has transformed a once-taboo subject into a global movement, inspiring change and improving health outcomes across the globe.

At the 2024 International Convention, Jack Sim reminded us that sanitation is still one of the world’s most overlooked—and often taboo—issues. Rotary's very first service project was introducing a public toilet in Chicago in 1907, proving we've been flushing away barriers to public health for over a century.

Sim challenged Rotary members to tap into our legacy of service and tackle the global sanitation crisis with the same commitment that's helping to eradicate polio.

My name is Maraki Getachew. I have been living with type 1 diabetes for 11 years. The main role in maintaining healthy blood sugar control in these 11 years has been to accept that I live with diabetes.
With this, the idea of ​​not letting diabetes harm me or my family and following a healthy lifestyle is also a common one.

🎀 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month! 🎀

What is Breast Cancer?

🔍 Breast cancer occurs when cells in the breast begin to grow uncontrollably, forming a tumor that can be felt as a lump or seen on an X-ray. It can affect both women and men, though it is far more common in women.

Current Epidemiology :

➡️ Approximately 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.
➡️ In 2023, an estimated 290,000 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed in the U.S. alone.
➡️ Early detection through regular screenings can significantly improve outcomes.
