In commemoration of Africa Youth Month, Model AU-Ethiopia hosted an "Ambassador for a Day" event with the Canadian Embassy in Ethiopia. Dr. Kirubel Bogale took on the role of the Ambassador of Canada, serving as the Permanent Observer to the African Union and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA). The discussions focused on crucial topics such as youth diplomacy, peace and governance, health and well-being, and other vital social issues that our continent urgently needs to address.

The Model AU team presented the organization's past professional commitments and provided recommendations aimed at amplifying African youth voices in global forums. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the embassy and its officials, particularly Ambassador Ben Marc Diendere, for their support in making this impactful "Ambassador for a Day" event possible.

As part of #AYM, the Model AU-E hosted Ambassador for a Day with Embassy of Belgium in Ethiopia. This inspiring program highlighted the remarkable contributions of MAU-E’s dedicated student ambassador, Jerusalem Solomon, as she embodied the role of Ambassador of Belgium and amplified the voice of youth.

During our visit to the Belgium Embassy, we engaged in meaningful discussions on peace and security, exploring its multifaceted definition and importance in today’s world.The dialogue extended to topics like climate resilience, equitable education,and fostering inclusivity, emphasizing youth’s role in shaping a sustainable and harmonious future.

We extend our gratitude to Her Excellency Annelies Verstichel, Ambassador of Belgium to Ethiopia and Djibouti, and Permanent Representative to the African Union, for her commitment to amplifying young leaders’ voices and fostering collaboration.

Together, we reaffirm the role of youth in addressing global challenges and building a future rooted in shared prosperity

The Model AU-Eth had the distinct honor of hosting the Ambassador for a Day Commemoration as part of the #AYM program at the British Embassy, featuring a representation of the UK Ambassador to the African Union.

During the event,Student Rakeb Yared member of the Model Africa Union-Ethiopia had the privilege of stepping into the role of the UK Ambassador to the AU, embodying the ambassador’s work for a day. The delegate delivered a compelling presentation on the Climate, Peace, and Security Nexus to the actual UK Ambassador to AU. The presentation was accompanied by a resolution proposing innovative solutions, which sparked a dynamic and engaging discussion.

MAU-E is proud to have hosted this impactful event and is deeply grateful to Adam Drury, Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative UK office to the AU and the British Embassy for their unwavering support in ensuring its success. This collaboration demonstrates the importance of involving young leaders in discussions that shape our collective future.

The Grand Opening Ceremony of the 8th PIDA Week commenced at the African Union headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, featuring a lineup of high-profile keynote speakers. This event aims to highlight the importance of infrastructure development across the continent and promote initiatives that enhance connectivity and economic growth in Africa.

Attendees include government officials, industry leaders, and representatives from various organisations, all coming together to discuss strategies and share insights on advancing the Programme for Infrastructure Development in Africa (PIDA).

Ethiopia Launches Pan-African ManuTech Hub. The UNDP and the Ethiopian Ministry of Industry, in collaboration with the inter-ministerial startup committee, announce the launching of a hub that aims to catalyze innovation and collaboration around manufacturing technology in Africa.
Part of the timbuktoo initiative, the ManuTech Hub will base in Addis Ababa selecting participants selected biannually from across the continent through an open and competitive process.
