Shouldering Office, Social and family affairs, Mr. Gadissa Bekele pursued his PhD and earned his Doctoral Degree from Haramaya University in Nov. 2024. His devotion and persistence, in this regard, inspired many attendees to follow his footsteps. In connection with, Rift Valley University Head Office staff arranged an event at Yerosan Hotel located in Bishoftu City to cheer him along with his friends, relatives and family on his successful accomplishment. On the event, some speakers thanked him for his commitment as Rift Valley University leader so far and expressed their best wishes to him besides their high expectations in the days to come.

The 19th Nations, Nationalities, and peoples’ day was colorfully celebrated at Rift Valley University, Gada Campus on Dec 3, 2024. Students, Campus Community and RVU Head Office members attended and made it colorful.
On the occasion, speeches that focused on ‘Unity in Diversity’ and the importance of accommodating diversity were made by Mr.Endale Mengistu, Gada Campus Dean and Dr. Abebe Gemechu, RVU Research, Community Service, and Partnership Vice President.

RVU Managing Council and Community congratulates Dr. Gadissa Bekele Gada, Vice President for Academic Affairs on successfully defending his PhD. Dr. Gadissa has obtained his PhD degree from Haramaya University specializing in Education ( Curriculum Studies) . He has been serving RVU for decades in various capacities with immense experienced in leadership. He used to overseeing and actively taking part whenever urgent institutional duties are at stake while pursuing his studies.

RVU leadership and community appreciate the commitment and perseverance he has demonstrated while attending his PhD work, and urges other academic staff who are attending their studies at various universities to do the same.

Rift Valley University has conducted consultative discussion with a Russian State University known as Moscow Technical University of Communications and Informatics at its Head Office on Nov. 11, 2024. The point of the discussion was to partner in nine identified areas of collaboration designed by the University. Accordingly, the parties explored the possible areas of cooperation that involve knowledge sharing and skills transfer in areas of Robotics and Innovative Educational Technologies, including staff and student exchange, engage jointly in organizing seminars and symposium etc.
Dr. Abebe Gemachu, RVU Vice President for Research, Community Service and Partnership chaired the meeting in candid manner and urged the participants to materialize the identified areas of cooperation for the common good.
Finally, the two parties reached consensus to navigate other possible areas of cooperation in the future based on the demands from both sides, and pledged to sign Memory

Rift Valley University News!

The Rift Valley University 2024/5 Academic Year First Session Senate meeting was concluded this afternoon.

During the two-day meeting (Sept. 19-20, 2024), the Senators attended the Report presented by the Vice President for Open and Distance Education, RVU 2023/4 Academic Year performance evaluation report, Annual Plan for 2024/5 and strategies designed to survive and thrive in the challenging academic landscape.

The Senators critically deliberated on the presented Institutional documents and strategies and enriched them through active participation. After a long debate and discussion, the Senators approved them for use.

In his concluding remark, Professor Derebrsa Dufera, RVU President urged the Senators to make utmost effort to overcome the internal and external challenges RVU faces. Finally, the Senators vowed to implement the Annual Plan and strategies in the coming academic Year.

Rift Valley University (RVU) Registrar Office has organized half a day of training on Oct 18, 2023, titled
‘Technical Vocational Education Training (TVET) Data Management Software’:
The training was conducted at RVU Head Office in Abba Gadaa Hall, The training involved Addis Ababa and Sheger Campus Registrar Heads and Data Encoders and emphasized Data Management - Organizing, processing, filing, etc employing the latest installed Software. Moreover, related issues such as new students’ entry criteria, Registration, orientations, effective communications, and student data handling were covered. The trainees raised questions during discussion time and answers were given by the Registrar Head and TVET Coordinators.

The training program was wrapped in the afternoon, and trainees vowed to effectively and efficiently
implement the training they have received and agree to provide quality service to the students and
stakeholders.
