Percutaneous Puncture of a Fetoscopic Endoluminal Tracheal Occlusion Balloon
https://www.jvir.org/article/S1051-0443(24)00496-2/fulltext?rss=yes

Fetoscopic endoluminal tracheal occlusion (FETO) is an investigational therapy to induce lung volume increase and development and improves the survival in patients with severe congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH). Elective balloon removal 4–7 weeks after placement reduces the development of surfactant deficiency, risk of preterm delivery, and potential need for emergent removal during delivery or on placental bypass. Failure to deflate and retrieve the balloon can result in iatrogenic neonatal death.

The Burden of Insurance Prior Authorization on Cancer Care: A Review of Evidence from Radiation Oncology
https://www.advancesradonc.org/article/S2452-1094(24)00217-3/fulltext?rss=yes

Despite its high cost-effectiveness, radiation oncology faces the greatest prior authorization (PA) burden of any medical specialty. Insurance denials and resulting treatment delays have been documented across several treatment modalities, including stereotactic body radiation, intensity-modulated radiation, and proton therapy. While insurance companies suggest that PA is intended to control healthcare spending and ensure the implementation of evidence-based practice, the number of radiation treatment plans reviewed by the PA process that result in changes is quite low.

Cone-beam computed tomography-based online adaptive radiotherapy of esophageal cancer: first clinical experience and dosimetric benefits
https://www.advancesradonc.org/article/S2452-1094(24)00219-7/fulltext?rss=yes

Radiotherapy (RT) plays a key role in the management of esophageal cancer (EC). However, toxicities due to proximity of organs at risk (OAR) and daily target coverage caused by interfractional anatomical changes are of concern. Daily online adaptive radiotherapy (oART) addresses these concerns and has the potential to increase OAR sparing and improve target coverage. We present the first clinical experience and dosimetric investigations of CBCT-based oART in EC using the ETHOS platform. Methods: Treatment fractions of the first 10 EC patients undergoing CBCT-based oART at our institution were retrospectively analyzed.

Time to Next Systemic Therapy after Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy for Oligoprogressive Metastatic Castrate-Resistant Prostate Cancer
https://www.advancesradonc.org/article/S2452-1094(24)00218-5/fulltext?rss=yes

Patients with metastatic castrate-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) with progressive disease generally require a change or escalation in systemic therapy. For patients with limited1-3 sites of progressive disease (oligoprogression), metastasis-directed therapy with stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) may allow a longer interval before next line systemic therapy.

Radiation Pneumonitis after Yttrium-90 Radioembolization: A Systematic Review
https://www.jvir.org/article/S1051-0443(24)00650-X/fulltext?rss=yes

The guideline regarding the maximum tolerated lung dose for Yttrium-90 (Y90) radioembolization is an expert opinion (level 5 evidence) based on a case series of 5 patients and recommends keeping the absorbed radiation dose to the lungs below 30 Gy per treatment and 50 Gy in a lifetime to prevent radiation pneumonitis (RP). The current understanding of the risks of RP is minimal despite its debilitating nature and high mortality rate. This review evaluates the available evidence of lung dosimetry and RP.
